Consider what you want. This post is not meant as a thorn in your eye, but as a possibility-expanding suggestion.
You will never get to 100% because it’s not possible, and here’s why: evolution.
The 1 constant in the universe, is CHANGE.
Genetics are nothing more than a juggling of balances between traits that get passed on or not, and are turned on or not.
IF YOU SUCCEED at producing a strain that, in your setting, produces 100% purple plants, what is going to happen when you distribute it, and other people will grow it out, well, one of those people will have either different enough circumstances that the plant, especially over several generations, will come out differen, OR, once upon a time there will be a genetic freak of nature as all strains put out, and a seed will pop that decided it wanted to live a green life.
That’s not a bad thing at all.
You don’t have to do it at all, but I would like to advise you to roll with the punches of growing and not become held back by percentages and things that don’t turn purple.
There are different ways of becoming purple. As has been said, some plants even turn the trichs purple, I’ve seen it under my own microscope from my own grown and have squished out purple resin from rather fresh plant material (only way to push out purple resin seems to be using fresh cause the coloring tends to become unextractable once the pH changes happen that happen in buds and leaves when they are drying).
But the fan leaves could turn purple leaving all the buds green. That plant may turn purple 100% of the time but not a person in the world smoking the buds will know or see it cause only the fan leaves turned. It can also happen that only the individual flowers will turn purple, or only some of them.
So if we assume that all of those are directed by different genetics or epigenetics, then it’s safe to assume that it’s influencable.
If it is influencable, like with temp fluctuations, there’s more to it than just going “These always go 100% purple”, because there’s always more situations to try out.
I applaud the effort but at the same time I don’t believe you or anyone else will ever get there.
But I won’t say it’s impossible to create a strain that puts out near 100% purple-inducing individuals from seed. I think it IS possible. But it’s the NEAR that makes it possible.
If you are not willing to select out the “good” from the “bad”, why grow at all?
