I have a bluegrass / Gospel band but my lead guitar picker is an older guy that made his living as a Jazz and Blues musician in St. Louis, so when we are kicking around together we mess around in those genre’s. Actually, we are quite eclectic in our music because of the diversity of our members.
@wbSamadhi , That is some setup! I would be lost as city folk in deep woods.

$70 plus whatever it costs to ship. I bought and never used it.

If you can wait till the first of the month I’ll take you up on that. How far from Missouri are you so I will have an idea of the shipping cost.
Thanks.
You can PM me if you like.

Clear vocals or cookie monster? There’s a good number of us into Doom stuff (but I’m tame on yelling vocals these days).

Personally I like it all, but my band has mostly scream/yells

Blues/Rock for me. SRV, Bonnamassa, Gary Moore, Rory Gallagher, Clapton, etc.
I have my trusty Gibson Les Paul Goldtop, and my Paul Reed Smith Custom 22 Semi-hollow. that I use mostly into a Marshall DSL40 tube amp.

@BigMike55 and anyone else, who was the greatest guitarist ever, in your favorite genre?
I’m very much into variety and looking for something new to listen to. I’m also experiencing one of those stalled out moments and need inspiration to grow past it. Listening to stuff I don’t normally listen to, helps me when this happens.

Joe Satriani’s the best guitarist I’ve ever heard, hands down.

Watch this and you will understand why Gary Moore is the most under rated guitarists ever R.I.P. So much feeling is in his playing.

Derek Trucks has that blues slide sound mastered. It’s not really my genre, but man is he good.

Indeed he does. But I saw a video a few years ago where he was on stage with Johnny Winter and was himself blown away by his slide playing, if that says anything.

There is a Cajun guy that is a Phenom as well Named Sonny Landreth you should check out if you want some mastery in slide guitar. You’re welcome.

My favorite guitar player is Jerry Cantrell. He isn’t the flashiest or most technical player and most of his stuff is actually really simple but the riffs are awesome. He’s shown that he can shred a little and has some speed but I respect his restraint because he serves the song with his leads rather than going on the runs he’s capable of. That’s a big part of playing imo.

What’s funny is he was really good friends with the guys in Pantera and in an interview he said he sometimes wished he could do some of the super shreddy stuff Dimebag Darrel could do. In another completely unrelated interview Dimebag said he wished that he could play like Jerry. He said Jerry could wring more emotion out of a single note than he could with 100. I concur!

Gary Moore is a motherfucker! I don’t actually listen to him (I owe it to myself to dive in a little deeper to his catalogue) but as far as playing he’s insane. No many guys can get really technical and fast without sacrificing the feeling. Like Yngwie is an amazingly skilled guitar player - who sounds like shit cause he’s more about sowing you his skill.

His rendition of Red House is off the charts. Gives me goose bumps every time I watch the video.

My son got me listening to him years back. I still have his stuff on some of my playlists. Truly amazing.

I saw Yngwie live a few decades ago, he was indeed amazing… and I’ve never actually been able to get into listening to him. Granted, I’m not a concert guy at all, but you’re right… it was a pretty mechanical performance. An amazing mechanical performance, but that’s all it was. A sufficiently advanced robot could play Yngwie’s sets just as well. :stuck_out_tongue:

@BigMike55 , I got lost in YouTube land. Just got back. I Still Got The Blues man. You are right. I just closed my eyes and drifted away. He was an amazing guitarist bro. Thanks.

I just listened to some of Derek Trucks stuff. I have messed around with a dobro a few times. Slide is something that takes a lot of work to get to where people don’t want to throw something at you when you play. I’m going with that because I sucked at it so everyone must. My buddy that plays lead can make one cry but not me. lol
Trucks is outstanding though. Thanks. :+1:

It’s true, except of the one or two people I know who do play a mean slide guitar- actually it’s only one person. I even have a slide collecting dust somewhere. Still bad to the bone, but I’m no George Thorogood
