Anybody know what’s up with Sannie?

Chocolate Rain was so friggin good, that mention brought back lots of memories. Killing Fields was great early on, especially a certain pheno, but it took a long time to finish and had monstrous yields. His Sugar Punch was the one most drippled about, i did it once after a new seed run and was disappointed. Always got my seeds from him too…

Hey guys, nice to see some old friends here from Opengrow. This is the first thread I’ve found with any info on Sannies Shop.

I, too, wondered what happened to Sannies. Opengrow was well on its way down, as it wasn’t attracting new users, and those who’d been supporting it seemed tired of fighting a losing battle. Then, for the past two-three years, you couldn’t sign in to it at all, so I lost track of everyone. Then Sannies just disappeared. Given Opengrow was already dead, how would they get any warnings or notice out?

I grew almost nothing but Sannies shop strains for almost 10 years, have a few Blue Hammer clones at 5 weeks flower right now I’ve kept for a few years. Had a ten pack, and only one popped, that was female. I always loved Blue Hammer, so I saved it.

I’m all out of Sannies Jack, to this day, one of my favorites of all time. By todays standards, his shop was a dinosaur, but killer strains. I still have hundreds of Chuckys Bride F2’s by Escobar, but unfortunately, most are really feral, and I just don’t have the resources to reincarnate her, undoubtedly one of the best tasting strains, ever. Also have a bunch of KO Kush crosses and my final two Sugar Punch seeds.

Life goes on. Hard to believe he’d just let all his strains just die off, seems someone would save his work… I’m sure you guys have some of his stuff, too.

My, how times have changed in 10 years! Wow. No more customs seizures on international seeds, lol. Now, you can buy anything in the US. Just got a bunch of FastBuds seeds yesterday. Ordered Friday, received on Tuesday, is this a great country or what?!

Peace to all.

This might be a little off-topic, but I got some freebies from an order at Sannie’s Shop, from Basic Seeds, called Basic Beer. This was over ten years ago. Has anyone grown them? I just popped the 5 that I had, and they all sprouted… I guess I’ll find out, but still interested if there’s any info out there

Basic-seeds Beer
(Purple peace x Losotto/ierdbeer)
This cross is suplied by Basic seeds to give us all a impression to see what they can do for us indoor
growers. Strong old school genetics for optimal pleasure.

and to stay a little on-topic, I basically learned to grow on OpenGrow. I had built a bubble bucket system and ran it in my closet, but I switched to soil after that first run basically because that’s what I was following on Open Grow. I remember e$ko once made a comment about how good my soil looked. I was star-struck and didn’t know what to say. San was like, dude that’s a huge compliment! I was just like, uhhhhhhh
(I know e$ko didn’t run soil, fyi). It was a really good place. I remember island420, and oh shit, Cleptor!

woah, yeah … i remember cleptor, haha,
posting weapons and meth-stuff, lol
he sure was a charcter …

el tiberon as well, though people.
i remember chatting with tib about how he gathered the mexican landraces
for esko (guerrero, michoacan, jalisco, oaxaca). that was a really tough dude.
he wanted to go to colombia to gather lines and we never heard back from him.

@Zanzibar
wow, that’s a really old gem, lol.
i totally forgot (!) about basic at sannie’s.
it was around the time i first started to be interested in growing my own.

We’re not getting older, just better at gowing, lolz
I hope el tiberon is ok… sounds ominous. Maybe he met a nice Colombian and settled down.
And yeah, Cleptor® - he was very insistant that the trademark symbol be used with his name because he was very certain it was going to be trademarked sooner or later - the name was that good!
Yes, I cracked those Beers… let’s see what happens

one person that was so quiet yet ever present was Knutsel… he seemed to be behind a lot of Sannie’s gear

Yeah, that’s what I wonder about too. It seems the naw guys just disappeared, I remember rhino posting a little longer but then that was it… I still have blackberry haze and some other stuff from them.

Ditto on the Blackberry haze, I made a bunch of seeds. The original was pretty good, the F2’s, not so much, pretty hermie prone. I recall they had discontinued it. Didn’t NAW do Blue Hammer, too? That was a really nice strain, have two now a few weeks from harvest I’ve cloned for a few years.

heya @Dieseldog381 ,BlueHammer was made by Breeders Choice (Sannie & Knutzel) ,if i remember right

Here’s my Blue Hammer, they always were a bit ratty looking, but a great high. Pretty old school.

Haha thanks for the reply Papalag! Yup it was a fun place, I learnt a lot and tried to stay respectful even if I asked a lot of dumb questions (lime green silverfields pheno?- no dumbass you just aren’t feeding it right lolol.)
It’s cool that so many of the good guys and gals like yourself are here now. Good to hear that Baq is still around somewhere, he was always very patient and inclusive with me.
Cheers mate!

There were some really cool people, and some FOOLS ha ha. Baq was and still is one of my favorites, seems to me him and Hempy had the most patience of all. It pretty much died for years over there, but I still miss it and how it was when so many actually participated. But at first, years ago, that place was horrid lol so many assholes and mods did not care. People telling each other off and getting into fights.

Something really bizarre happened to me when I first joined, this guy literally attack me saying I was stalking him over all kinds of forums, and I was changing names. Holy shit he was so mad and I could not convince him I had no clue who the hell the guy was! lol That was insane, Not One Mod Stepped in, and this guy was really trashing on me.
