The stuff we used to get in a tuna can as teenagers it was some crazy potent stuff not sure what strain it was but you would literally have to use a can opener to open it ans itt would come in a quarter or half ounce the stuff would lay me out on my ass lol

Guess you’re not the only one searching for strains and flavors that bring some good memories of your youth . I’m afraid they’re all blown away by hyped strains with funny names, high THC hybrids and other marketing based products, not everything coming is good with legalization times, hope you will find it anyway … beer3|nullxnull

Well I was active then but never made it to rural midwest I suppose. We were lucky to get good outdoor or expensive dank from Ohio/Indiana.

Tuna kush is/was a heavy indica, couchlock high super stanky strain, People suspect it’s a hindu but who knows.

I used to get it in highschool in the mid 2000s. It cost around 80 dollars a quarter vs 40-50 what most people paid at the time.

Pretty sure it was a British Columbia strain but there was tons of it in Ontario. Had to open it with a can opener (not that tab thing) and it smelled strong as fuck. Some people say it smelled like tuna but I never noticed any fish smell. Pretty sure the name came from how it was sold, not that it actually smelled of tuna. Just stanky kush.

It was some really good shit but I bet if I smoked it today it probably wouldn’t kick my ass like it used to. I’m still looking for “purple indica” from those days too was also a memorable old school strain that knocked me on my ass back in the day. I’d be curious how it effected me now.

Pink kush and pink hybrids seem to have taken over BC in the past few years. As far as I know tuna was a clone only that was/is very locked down and almost nobody, at least at the time had it.

I wonder how it compares to the popular stuff today.

Interesting as hell, thanks for the post.

As far as the stuff of yesteryear, yeah we do get such a nostalgia thing going on.

I still pine for a representation of the first dank we used to get, but then I remember it was actually outdoor and just some plant pulled from a 10 pack of Dutch Seedbank seeds, but it seemed mindblowing as a 15 year old who had only smoked low grade Mexi brick. It’d probably just be “decent” quality by today’s standards, if I encountered it again. Only thing notable was the sharp pine scent, but maybe that’s a bit of nostalgia too before I encountered other good weed.

It’s probably almost as good as the modern stuff, I have to imagine. We would sometimes get no-name “BC bud” that still commanded 20/g pricing but it was a clear notch below well-tended semi-local stuff. Things moved a bit different in full-drug-war rural America…sources were scarce.

Shit it was $300-400/oz+ in early 2000’s money for anything seedless back then…don’t even matter what it was.

Haven’t seen proper tuna kush in a can in years and years. Had blue tuna in Vancouver a cpl years ago that was insane. But not in a can. That old canned Tuna kush used to run like 200$ a half O in canada like 2005ish…

Never heard of it before. I have talked about it all day. I was talking about tuna and my wife said no tuna is the trash can. I laugh. She knows nothing. Lol

Are you in western Canada? I’ve heard the HA moved their weed in tuna cans out here. Not sure if tuna kush was a.specific strain though. I remember different weed in cans in early to mid nineties in BC.

alot of people used this method to transport or package grows. at 2400 a lb canadian (bulk 2k if you had connections) once packed into cans and sold for 200 usd per oz getting you back 3200 american. and at that time the usd was like 160 to a cad… good ol days… where you could turn a 10k investment into close to 30 in a 2 hour drive.
