Az growers, share your desert grows here?

So outside by July?

Start from seed… The plants need that month to maturity to realize the days are getting longer by 2 min and 9 seconds. U take a plant under 18-24 hrs of light and throw it outside ur gonna have it trying to flower then resort back to reveg

Ok I have this spot ready. Not the best for all day sun but it has to do. There used to be a small tree here that was cut recently. The ground around it was spungy today after I soaked it yesterday. I piled some weeds on there then added about a foot of some garden soil from last year that has a bunch of roots and rotted stuff in it. So if I pop seeds in the ground tomorrow I should be fine for a decent season hopefully.

I also plan on putting a marigold, a couple onions, small amount of basil and cilantro.

Looks like a nice spot to get started. Was up in Prescott last weekend and although it was pretty chilly relative to why I’m used to in dirty Phoenix, it’s plenty warm to grow in. Just gotta remember to create a thick mulch layer( doesn’t have to be traditional mulch, I use a 6 inch layer of pine needles because, that’s what’s plentiful in Northern Arizona) so that the roots stay warm on those cold nights and cool on those hot days.

Father in law has a house up there with drip systems so I might just throw some seeds down and join ya as an experiment.

If you can get a small hoop house going that would be ideal to try and provide alittle more warmth and humidity on those cold nights, but certainly not necessary. Just might speed up growth a bit during veg. Cheap ones can be McGyver’d with some rebar, pvc pipe, and some greenhouse cloth from lowes/ HD

And with how mild the heat has been thus far the heat I imagine is going to be a pretty spicy summer this year too  @Dirtron

Ok wish me luck. I just ended up putting two little Afghan autos that just sprouted a couple of days ago outside. Figured I’d try photos next year. Also had some other little stuff sprouted. A bunch of heirloom jalapenos, a couple peppers, then the rest are basil, marigolds, cilantro.

The Afghan are the ones under the little domes
