Balochistan Black Tiger (NLD) Preservation

Man I just actually read this. That’s a  huge bummer. I truly admire your dedication and honestly, your ruthlessness. I’d have the world’s hardest time killing my big plants even if they were infected. I guess that’s what makes a true next-level grower, the ability to cut your losses from time to time.

But I will say that if it protects the Black Tiger, I stand behind it! The sap is a feature I really, really want to see for myself. Iv heard of red sap, but I’ve heard the sap from BT described as a metallic purple. Say what?!

I salute your dedication.

Here is #4 the bleeder for you all!

Everything else is in the 1 gallons, they will stay in these for the rest of the run! Going on vacation for a week. I gave my house sitter a detailed watering timeline so we should be good while I’m gone! I’d imagine I’m about 3 weeks from flip. I’m about week 3 test run in the RB26 (Rainbow Belts v3 #6 x GTR F1) that I’m running for hash rosin!

Man those look healthy! The sap is really wild. I’m surprised that the leaves are so broad. Do they narrow down later? Are both Indica in their effect?

I think there were posts up above about this topic that I’ll read, but I’m surprised at how broad the leaves are at that early stage.

Black Tiger is an Indica Sativa hybrid. In Kandahar, where these seeds hail from, strains from several areas are typically mixed. Most have influence from North of the Kush, preferring Mazar-i-Sharif, there will be the short local Hindu Kush landrace influence, influence from the local wild Sativa, and My guess is influence from Tirah Valley as well.
Some are fresher hybrids and others are from years ago, depending on the farm.
Typically broad leaves early on, narrowing with time, but there is a good chance a bld pheno turns up too.

Beware the Black Tigaaah!

I love to hear the history of these landrace strains. It is really wild that there is a community, largely disconnected from us culturally, doing basically what we do going back a very, very, very long time. I have had my perspective broadened a lot on here as I learn that it’s not exactly that these are what grows ‘naturally’ in a given area but really a lineage that has been added to according to human movement and trade in the area.

@Upstate have you grown the black tiger?

No. I organized a group buy to do a repro of it and ordered a pack from the seedsource( I think)
After I paid I was notified they had accidentally oversold their stock, and I’d have to pick out something else or wait for a re supply. I elected to wait. A short while later, I was informed that they couldn’t get more seed, and I was offered a refund or to.pick out something else. I picked out something different for myself after talking with the group and offered up a rare West Afghan from Helmand that looks very
similar…goes black etc. It’s still awaiting a reproduction.
*seedsource did me justice in the end. Offered up a free pack of seeds for the trouble.

Well that’s disappointing that they couldn’t keep their inventory organized, but in the end these things happen mostly due to error not any malice on the side of the sellers. Folks get very pissy and I’ve been blessed by folks like Angus at Real Seed Co. just for being reasonable and staying patient.

I have been eyeing the Black Tiger and the Daman #8 from Ace (selling on behalf of Indian Landrace Exchange I think) and just haven’t had the €300 it takes to buy them. I am glad to see this grow by @cdues21 just so I can enjoy the view. I’m still not letting go of my dream to grow both of those 2 purple people eaters, but there’s plenty to grow in the interim.

I have a Tashkurghan from RSC that seems like it purples up in the same fashion and has purple trichomes in the pics. Once I repro those I’d love to share the wealth and get them into the hands of better growers than myself. If you do ever get your hands on some Black Tiger please share pics!

Found this while looking at the various suppliers of ILE seeds. I’ve got to say that I’ve learned to read between the lines in order to avoid stressful weed. It’s usually advertised as “energetic” or “psychoactive” or something but this one comes right out and says it. The exact opposite of what I need in my weed lol!

I can’t imagine they thought this would help sell beans:

I used to get bud that would, if smoked in large enough qtys give you the “dread” feeling. Like, curled up all sweaty on the floor, regretting every decision you ever made and really digging at your own motives in life. Haven’t gotten anything like it in yeeeears though.

While not my favorite smoke, it was unique to me, and if offered the chance, I would burn some again, just to see if weed could still put me there. I bet there are people out there actively looking for it.

Yeah interesting that some strains give you The Fear consistently, but I’ve also noticed that if I’m holding back a lot of mental anxiety day to day, then even chill strains might lead to that “What am I DOING?!” feeling.

For me it’s usually a feeling that I’m supposed to be doing something that I’m forgetting or neglecting to do. There was a stretch where a friend had cancer and I was really affected by it, so when I smoked all I could think about was my mortality. Fucking awful. But luckily she is now cancer-free and as soon as I learned that, the feeling eased up a lot. Now if I get it it’s not as dark, but still stressful.

I used to just laugh my ass off when I smoked these more psychedelic varieties. I’m hoping that one day I’ll have fewer responsibilities gnawing in the back of my mind and I’ll once again get the giggles. Probably once the kids are grown haha so give me about a decade

All the pictures from the region have me excited. I’m excited to see what I get when I flip them! It’ll be getting cold here soon so I’ll really be able to give them a nice fade.

I don’t know, it’s working on me lol. It’s been a while since I had some impending doom bud, I would honestly like to have that in my stable!

Now I kinda want to grow some just to know what they mean by, “Feeling of impending doom.” Not going to lie, that kinda excites me!

This looks like a really good line to preserve. All the best for the run!

Thanks to the other members who posted more info about the strain :+1:

Here are the six cleaned up getting ready to be flipped soon. #6 has been growing like crazy and handles my topping well so it got moved to a 7 gallon to really see what it can do. #4 has a very sturdy structure but it isn’t the fastest growing, this is the purple bleeder. #3 and #5 seem pretty similar no real complaints about these. #1 and #2 nothing to write home about. I had to clean up a bunch on these plants, they’re slow growing, too compact, almost fighting itself for light.

It’s called not being “present” & it’s hard to shake. That’s what I value about Buddhism- meditation, awareness of breathing. Very difficult for me but it’s a guide

Thanks for the update!

It’s an interesting trait that the internodes are so short. The main pic does seem like it’s a very solid plant, no gaps in the structure. #3, #4, #5 all look really nice, and the purple bleeder is just fascinating to me. I’m sure that some will have thinner leaves as they get closer to flower, but I’d honestly be happy to see some retain those nice blocky, fat leaves.

@cannabissequoia I agree that it’s trying to guide me in some way and there’s usually a positive result if I am a good listener. I’m a huge believer in meditation and have grown a lot by trying to understand Buddhism. It’s so much more than just “chill vibes maaaan”.
