THE BASTARDS LIVE!! Finally home after 5 days. ABC crossed plants look a bit rough and crunchy but much better than I thought they’d be. The pure ABC plants look like they took a short vacation and are rejuvenated. They really don’t care how hot and dry it is.

ABC cross #5 has impressed me time and time again. Firstly because it was the runt of the first 8 seeds I popped and now it’s one of the strongest ones. #5 has a pungent gassy garlic smell with minor citrusy undertones especially pungent when it’s hot out. Of all the plants, I like the internode spacing on this the best not long but not overly stubby, simple to prune and top. #5 was also left without water for 5 days during a heatwave in a tiny 5x5 pot and was virtually unaffected by the heat while the gallon sized plants were 2 seconds from croaking. I scrapped #1 after I repotted it. Ever regular leaf cross looks wilted right now except for #5.
#5:
I think I may end up scraping every non mutant cross besides #5 because it was the only one to inherit ABC’s heat tolerance and I feel this could be a useful trait for breeding regardless of the leaf shape. Just waiting on it to show its sex at this point.
The crosses with mutations are taking the heat well:

Attempted to up-pot my 2 straight ABC plants from 1 gallon pots last week. The shorter plant did not approve, so I put it back in a 5x5. The roots popped off rather easily.
The taller plant didn’t mind being repotted:
I’m going to cull every non mutant leaf plant except for #5 or any female plants I deem essential to my projects until I can set up some sort of diy greenhouse. Being back home has been challenging. The hardest part is having to be more stealthy with my grows.
Here are the 3 mutant leaved F2’s. #9 and #10 made it past pre-selection based on vigor alone. #9 smells like lime flavored slushie syrup, and I honestly would love a non mutant with this scent!! #15 is tiny but I won’t toss it because I still need a male and I’m limited in the amount of mutants that I have:
Cleaned my A+B mother plant a bit:

2 of the 5 ABC seedlings that I popped about 2 months ago have since died off. At least I have 3 more that are doing pretty good outside.

So my old canopy’s legs couldn’t handle this morning’s wind and heavy rains. It collapsed right on top of my pots, flooding the biggest pot with my tallest abc. Had to quickly repot to a 5 inch pot. Used its label to hold it upright.
The one that looks like it was repotted while under duress:
Ran outside in nothing but slippers and my underwear when I saw what happened. This is a buzzkill, but I’ll just use this as a moment to learn from. Gonna also get some fabric pots for them.

Cleaned up the bottom and took some cuttings off the tall one. Took some time to just sit and admire the unique leaves. Wish I were better at taking photos!! lol
Not one sign of pre flower on this one.

Accidents happen. At least you were able to salvage a bit and get some cuts.

The plant is doing alright now, but the cuts shriveled up and died a day or 2 ago. I’ll try again after it throws off more branches!!
