Just starting this topic to keep track of my ABC grow projects.
I originally wanted to grow Freakshow years ago but couldn’t source any seeds so I tried a Duckfoot, but those just weren’t freaky enough for me. Decided to wait till I could get my hands on anything with freak phenos, but everything was sold out. That pushed me to search for other mutants
Fast forward 4 years later finally got my hands on some ABC types. The person I got them from sent a bunch of other freebies. They sent:
Pancakes x Apples and bananas fems
ABC
ABC x unknown f2’s: Breeder said “It’s a cross between ABC and an unknown strain that had already been crossed with ABC.”
АВС.
Out of the 18 ABC outcrosses I’ve grown only 3 have ABC leaf mutations. Still pretty slow growing but all three are growing at a faster pace than the pure ABC.
I originally wanted to increase the THC levels and introduce a different terpene profile but after reading all of the work others have put in and how difficult working with ABC may be, I decided to start small with my goals since I am new to successfully being able to keep my cannabis plants alive past the seedling stage.
I’m going to work on making crosses with one of my favorite strains apples and bananas. I have a breeders cut that I’m currently reveging. I’m going to turn her into my mother plant for cuttings. I took a cutting a couple of months ago, I think I’ll use that clone for this project.
I grew out the Pancakes x apple and bananas seeds. One died a week in. The two that have closer traits to pancakes are weak and have splotches all over the leave and the one that is a+b leaning is much stronger which is unfortunate. I wanted to use the pancake leaning plants for their strong vanilla terps but I don’t want to pass on any potentially crappy genetics.
I’ve got 5 more pure ABC plants that I popped about a month ago + some seeds I refuse to pop until I can sex the 7 that I currently have going. I’m going to pick my favorite male and female to make seeds with.
The first 2 ABC plants I sprouted. Almost 3 months in.
Very hard to sex these plants.
Looks like a fun project you got going. Always admired the Abc type leaf. Tried my hand on some myself recently, but sadly nothing popped for me. Ill have to source some more when I can, but in the mean time I’ll sit here and admire your lovely mutants.
Hey I also love the freaks and weirdos of cannabis! Were you ever able to source some freakshow? It’s directly available on the breeder’s website, maybe shipping limitation? I’m popping some right now
Much appreciated!! I think I’m going to take my time working abc before I try and get my hands on Freakshow. I’m pretty new to breeding so I’m gonna make tons of mistakes. There are a couple abc crosses that lack the abc leaves but smell great. Green phenos have a lemony gassy scent, red stemmed plants have a berry gas scent, I’m gonna use those to practice with. #8 has slight variegation that I want to play around with. I’d love a variegated abc.
Sorry to hear that nothing popped. These lil buggers are tough, even the seeds are tricky. Out of the 13 I potted up, 8 popped, 1 dead like the second day its taproot popped out. That’s why I want to find a male and female to make sure that I’ll have enough seeds for my future projects and also for anyone who also gets bit by the mutant bug.
I stopped searching for a couple years, then my next issue when I did was that the seeds were expensive. Only reason I got my hands on the abc was because a breeder had them for $30. Having hobbies can get expensive, especially this one!!
Up-potted my 3 mutant leaf abc crosses earlier today. They’re already bigger than the straight abc were at this stage. I’m excited to see what they look like when they really kick into overdrive. #9
Did something pretty stupid. I’m moving back home and I started moving my things, starting with my plants a couple days ago during the worst possible time to do so. A heatwave!!
My plants are in another state while depression and anxiety have be kicking my ass elsewhere. It’s been a bit difficult to get out of bed.
I can deal with losing the plants that aren’t presenting any leaf mutations but I’d be crushed if the 2 ABC plants I spent 3 months on have withered by the time I get back to plant them in the ground. I hope they’re as drought tolerant as most people say they are.
Currently have 5 more ABC plants to work with if anything happens to the other 2 so I’ll be fine. Annoyed, but fine.
thank you for workin with ABC! I don’t have the skills to do so yet but its obviously a special strain I really hope is successfully bred into something REALLY special, just takes the right combo so it could be you good luck!
There are a good handful of people working with ABC compared to a couple years ago when I first heard about it. Some really remarkable ABC types being made!!
