Ah, I see. I was looking at the 2ft 144w that you originally linked. I wonder what diode they’re using. All watts are not the same as different diodes have different efficiencies.
Yeah things used to be much easier . Just buy a hortilux hps and youre good to go…
Migro channel will tell you that the advertised par map is accurate. My buddy bought 2. Others on here have good things to say about them. I got you.
Only bummer is the stepped dimmer.
5, 25, 50, 75, 100%
I agree, it’s confusing. What I was told is to count watts as “watts drawn from the wall” and not to use the advertised “wattage equivalent.” But I may be remembering info from 8-10 years ago when I was first looking into this stuff, so hopefully someone else can chime in on this point. There have been a lot of advancements in LED grow lights over the last few years.
I have 2 of those XS1500 pros that ViparSpectra gave me to test and the work great in my 2x4. I am also a huge fan of Mars FC series bar lights. I use a an FC6500 in my 4x4 and and FC8000 in my 5x5, they are amazing lights.
Ill check out those too. Thanks doug .
Everyone’s giving good recs… I got the ks5000 from vipar on sale. It’s really solid and doesn’t destroy plants if they grow too close. Goodluck.
I’m with Doug on this one, two of these babies in a 2x4 is a great solution for SOG. The published specs are pretty accurate and you just can’t beat the current pricing.
Yeah I think I’ve narrowed it down to this viper spectra model. That makes me super happy.
Now im just looking at the difference between the $100 150w and $200 250w option.
It doesnt make sense but it seems like you get better value buying 2 150w instead of a single 250w.
Anyone disagree with that observation?
I would go with 2 and get that extra 50 watts while having the versatility of being able to.move them up and down individually.
Im such a detailed person when it comes to this stuff. Always trying to maximize every single little thing. It drives me nuts… And the amount of details in leds is just baffling. If its as simple as the 2 lights are better than the 1 for the price… then yeah.
I was thinking the same thing also. Originally I was trying to see if I would be able to just cut the bars connecting the 250w system together. But this would be just a little easier maybe lol.
Keep in mind that the lenses may shorten the life of the LED chips, the lenses hold in heat and heat is the worse thing for LED chips.
I like the light bar style, just depends on your budget. I bought some viper spectra on amazon they ar not light bars but they putt out a good amount of ppfd.
