BigMike55’s Ongoing Cannabis Log (Part 1)

It looks like there’s a lot of color on the pistols on the buds in the background…

Post 290 in my grow log is my Tangie at 4 weeks, not seeing any brown pistils.

Well I was wanting sinsemilla but I may end up with some seedy tops.
I have got inside the tent upside down and can not find anything male on these girls.

Maybe my brothers @JohnnyPotseed and @Oldjoints will chime in with some thoughts.

Usually the pistils turning brown can mean a couple of things, 1 is the plants getting close to harvest time, the other could be the plant got pollinated. Actually that’s close to the same thing, once pollinated it starts to work on producing seeds, and winding down on THC production. Nearing the end of life stage
Or full maturity/harvest time.

I’m afraid, at only 4 weeks into flower, it’s got to be a male part got frisky.

That is kinda early for the pistils to start turning

I am betting on the pollination scenario, I guess you will know here shortly.

Yep I would say pollinated. Only takes a few male flowers to make it happen and it is not hard to miss. I have a strain that pollinates itself every time I grow it. Even though I am actively looking for any hint of a male flower and never see anything and yet the plant still gets pollinated.

That lone male flower that can hide really good, can do damage!

Especially with fans circulating…….

Well, at least if it did Hermie, the produced seeds will be female.
But will THEY be Hermie prone??? Trash seeds???

Not always but will have that potential. But also could be as bad as the mother plant or worse. Personally I wouldn’t trust them as it usually follows suit. It sure has been that way with a couple of generations of the strain I was talking about.

If/when the time comes, they will go to File 13.
I can always remove seeds and make Bubble Hash out of the rest.

I would think it may depend on what caused it to throw a nut.

It takes a LOT to stress induce a plant to hermaphroditism. It doesn’t usually happen in a normal growing environment unless it was in the genetics to begin with.

And my plants never get stressed, haha.
Honestly though. These girls have not had any kind of treatment not normal for me.
I’m thinking it must be in the genetic makeup somewhere.

Which drives me to a question.
Why, if one reverses a female to create pollen to bang a female with, why do the produced seeds not create Hermie’s? But if the female creates pollen on her own, without me using silver, the produced beans could be Hermie prone.?

I would think because when reversing you are inducing the pollen sacks artificially but with a hermie it’s likely a genetic trait being carried on. But that’s just a guess

And a damn good one.
When you reverse if that plant wasn’t genetically prone to herm than it shouldn’t.
When a plant pollinated itself it was in the genetics to be hermie prone in the first place and passes those genes to its children.

That makes sense. Kinda. Hehe

My question now would be…. When you find a stray seed or two in a sack of weed will it be hermie prone for sure? Hmmm. Always wondered
