Got the Blak n Blu cookies today, thanks !
Hahaha nice.
Hope you find the fire in them.
I wonder. When you cross two different strains like this, normally when they show the cross, is the father first, or the mother. i.e. blue Cookies was mother and Black Lebanese was the father, so is it correct to say Blue Cookies X Black Lebanese or is it Black Lebanese X Blue Cookies. Or does it matter? And since it’s a cross I should get at least 2 Phenos, plus whatever the mother and father came from, correct?
I lost a couple crops years ago. Daily inspection helps.
DE helped me also. Them lil bastards must go.
Female (first) x male (second)= strain.
I’ve noticed some breeders put the words sort of backwards when it comes to names, sometimes. It pretty much is up to the new breeder at that point and can call it anything. peace
I need to read up on breeding.
Its pretty intriguing.
Lemme ask you another question.
With the female listed first, would that indicate that there would be more traits present from the female? Just curious.
I don’t think so, it’s just the standard nomenclature used guess. I think the traits are are distributed evenly in some, female in some and male in some. I’ve never locked the breeding info into my brain yet. Learning in bits really.
IMHO The thing is, you never really know until you grow the progeny. Some strains really shine in a cross, others can bring more subtle differences/variations and recessive traits. Then there are some that just dominate and you have to find a balance.
The fun part (for me) is discovering new flavours and effects from what I’ve bred, and finding something that I like better and I find more medicinal/potent than the parents. That and sharing the seeds and getting feedback, whether it’s positive or not. Even what some would consider negative feedback, I take as constructive criticism.
I agree with both @GMan and @Oldtimerunderground . The standard is F x M in listing. Name is whatever you want it to be but the standard used to kind of be that the name would incorporate both parents somehow, the very least a main trait of the cross or parents.
While there are “standards” and do’s and don’ts to breeding, Breeding doesn’t have to be perfect. It should be fun and be whatever you want it to be.
That being said Blak n Blu Cookies is a dope name. Run with it.
Gotcha. I am germinating some of these right now and want to run them full course to see what we’re dealing with here. I’m certain there’s fire in there. Just have to find it.
I don’t pretend to be a “Breeder”. I was basically trying to see what I could do. Except for making feminized seed, this is the first time I have made seeds by crossing two completely different strains.
Ok everyone. I need some advise.
I have been fighting the spider mites for several weeks. And I still have those mofos.
Here’s my situation. I have 2 Ghost plants, 2 Grape Cookies and 2 Monstercropped Afghani. There are 3 weeks into flower cycle. And flowering they are.
I have already sprayed neem the first week of flower, waited a couple days, and hit them with Safers Insecticidal Soap. Waited a couple days and hit them the powdered Diatomaceous Earth. Did not see any after that. Couple days later I took them out and sprayed them off with clean water. After they dried off I lightly dusted the underside of the leaves.
So I just checked them. Still have bugs. Fuckers!
Should I cut these down and clean my tent really well again and start over? Or is there something else anyone can think of? I’m starting to get desperate !
I never had spider mites in flower. But I’m only going to give you advice based on what I’d do. Take everything down. If it isn’t the most important plant in the world, toss it. Then clean until your fingers hurt. Then clean again. Good luck
Your buddies plants may have been the culprit of the spider mites. Not certain obviously but I only got bugs from other peoples clones that were gifted to me. I luckily caught them in veg and tossed everything. But the first time I just used a crude mixture of vinegar, cayenne and garlic powder
I’m glad that finally got to you @BigMike55. I’m slow going sometimes.
I was out working the tomatoes two days ago and trimmed a leaf that looked wrong. I need new glasses very badly but even I saw the bugs and eggs all over that leaf. I called my wife over and said “This is why we have ““grow room clothes”” and wash up before going into the room”.
I think before I ever take in clones from someone else I’ll put together a quarantine grow box in a distant area of the house.
Those little critters scare the hell out of me.
I’ve found the mild stuff kills a few slows thing down but they’ll come back. Finish if you prefer but the only sure way I’ve found the two times I brought them in on clones that protocol 0 is the only thing that eliminated them fuckers.
Good luck @BigMike55
Best vibes sent your way bro. I’m a hybrid indoor grower. I bring things in and out but stop about now. I never had a tent, I use Panda film and a closet up stairs and a Panda Film room in the basement. It’s all evolving.
Got a place you can take out the tent and let it cook in the natural sun? Maybe some humidity to go along with it… So far, this is out of my expertise, thank God. peace
Well My wife has made up my mind for me.
Since I have seed for the Ghost plants, Im going to chop them.
Since the Grape Cookies mean nothing to me, Im going to chop them.
Altho I have a clone of the monstercropped Afghani growing outside, and growing well I might add, and bug-free (imagine that), I have months of time and effort invested in the Monstercrops. I really want to try to save them.
So. Take them outside. Spray the shit out of them. With clean water. Specially under the leaves. Clean the tent again. Then clean the tent again, again. After the plants have dried treat them one final try. I am 3 weeks innflower cycle so if this does not work, they get the axe, and I get to start over. I wonder if I put some ladybugs in with the monsters would that be beneficial. Worth a try???
Damn BigMike, you’re ruthless! I like it! Lol, can’t hurt to try anything you can. I seen quite a few ladybugs munching away on my outdoor lately, hope they’re eating up any buggers before the bad ones can do damage.
For my indoor right now I been fighting a few earwigs that somehow find their way into the house around this time of year. They’re more of just a nuisance and I just squish em, but if they eat enough leaf they can really do some damage.
