Bodhi Plant and seed guide (Part 1)

Man, seeing and hearing how those turned out after you talked about them the last couple months…congrats! And didn’t you get like 9 females out of a pack? No wonder that’s your favorite strain out of the last 30 you’ve ran, and there’s no greater testimonial than immediately going out and buying two more packs like you did. Awesome!

How’s the smoke on those Banana Spliff? Much difference from best to worst? And any problems with the run? I think yours is the first grow report I’ve seen on that strain and I’d love to hear more. Some people have trashed the Wookie male as being garbage and subpar, but I think they’re short-sighted. bodhi’s crosses are about possibilities, so if somebody didn’t find something they liked, it’s very rarely some problem caused by the male, it’s just the combo didn’t work out for them.

Those are usually the same people who have way more likes than they give, so you can draw your own conclusions about what that says of their own personalities. I think we need more likes per day so we can turn this place into a love fest! :green_heart:

Anyway, man, nice job and would love to hear more about this cross! Any lavender or spa herb flavors? What about banana?

:peace_symbol: :seedling:

Yea we need more names like Dream Beaver instead of the cakes and candies. lol She is stinky but not overwhelming. 9-10 weeks to flower, no picky feeders or problems with any so far. Here is an f2 that i have going currently.

I appreciate the kind positive words however it was a bit crazy of me to order two more packs of those before even trying a sample nug. I’m certainly pleased as punch that I was finally right about something but judging a strain based off of the structure smell and frost level isn’t something I’d recommend anyone risk doing.
Pure luck that that they turned out to be one of my fave bodhi strains.
I did wind up with 8 females and only two males and all 8 are fantastic smoke. None of the lavender or eucalyptus showed up in these. My favourite jar smells like those old industrial brown rubber bands but even the one I like least is super gassy and Uber potent. One did smell like plantain chips while growing but that one tastes like watermelon rinds.
No weak sauce phenos imo and I was super happy to get the chance to grow more and hopefully I can do a better job growing them bigger and fuller next time.
No idea why people bash the wookie male but I would guess that most of the haters wrote it off after trying one or two crosses like I did. Prior to growing these I would have said that the 88hp male was my favourite that b uses but now I’d put that wookie up there if I’m being honest.
I have had weak terrible smoke phenos from hp crosses and I can’t remember any of those from a wookie cross. Not saying all the crosses from the wookie are going to be everyone’s cup of tea but for consistency I’d say it’s at least as good and deserves to be grown out by more people before it’s judged so negatively.
I’m sure there’s plenty of people out there that have grown way more bodhi strains then me but I can only speak from my own first hand experience and this one was a very very worthwhile grow.
Just my two cents and to each their own

I think the wookie is a really nice male overall. But I do think that the general internet consensus of it passing along lavender/grapefruit is a little off base. Ive gone through Lucky Wookie, Gfunk, Terpenado, Soul Mate, and Phone Home. I didnt really detect any lavender, grapefruit, eucalyptus, etc in any of the phenos from these crosses. What I did notice was a super hashy burnt rubber tire factory scent on the best phenos. I’m talking final dried/cured bud here too.

There are some large yielding phenos in most packs too. Some of the Lucky Wookies and Gfunks got massive, but the overall flavor and potency was lacking compared to the moms of the crosses.

I have seen one grower pull the lavender out of a big pheno hunt of Lavender Jack, so it is in there. I have just noticed that it (to me) is stupid rare and requires the correct pairing. That grower said that his pheno was the most lavender smelling of the bunch, and even then it was very light on the back end. Have heard really good things about Space Monkey.

I got dramatically better “wookie” terpenes and tastes from the Wookie 7 mom. It was from Cannavore’s Wookie 7 x GMO/Waltz pairing. Touching the plant leaves my hands covered in a super oily resin smelling of ripe lavender and grapefruit citrus. It stuck through the dry and cure as well, and was very stable in a jar. Just based on my experiences, I think the Wookie 7 is the one to look at for the coveted wookie terps. Breeders seem to back that one up too, saying that its an absolute terpene hog when used in crosses.

At this point Id go into a wookie 15 hunt expecting mostly burnt rubber hashy earthy terps after a dry/cure, with lavender/eucalyptus as a recessive bonus that is less common. Based on its expressions in crosses Id like to say its really appy dominant.

Interesting
You’ve ran a few more of the wookie crosses then me I’m happy to hear your results
Only grown Sakura f2 and 2 1/2 packs space monkey before these. The space monkey had a lot of the eucalyptus and I found it super dominant in them. Wasn’t what I was hoping for but I kept popping more before it was super stony and everyone else raved about it.
The Sakura was super sweet with cherry grape and some citrus which was a pleasant surprise.
For the last 5ish years I’ve been running constant hp crosses with a few appy/snow lotus mixed in and found the hashplant crosses to have more phenos show that harsh rubber incense vibe.
Let’s be honest these days most crosses have so many strains mixed in that it’s tough to not find good or better smoke but maybe the rubber tire terp is the mashup wash out problem that everyone fears is inevitable with interbreeding.
20 years ago there was 20 strains to choose from now there’s 20 000 000 and they are all just mix and match from the original 20
I dunno just stoned and riffing

I got a pink pheno in my pack, but the smell wasnt there. Did yours turn magenta? If there is a pink stinky out there, I’ll run more. Mine was very pretty, but just a light OG funk. Frosty and dense as hell…

You don’t get a winner in every pack. I compare seed packs to lotto scratch tickets. I started buying 2x of the same pack recently to give the seeds a fair chance. Hell, my 1st pack of SSDD(4yrs ago) was 8 males, 1 runt, and 2x mediocre plants. I have 6 more packs, so I like to think that I just trimmed the fat. Next time, I’ll be taking multiple clones of each including males.
