that’s the way it is. last two seed runs I’ve done I only got one female and 5+ males.
Gangbang huh?
Man thats a good amount of females to be able to hunt through for a keeper. Should find something very worthy in them. Can’t wait to see.
So from my 1st batch of clones the male I’ve been eyeing up(E1) is the only plant that started to root. I take that as a good sign because i suck at cloning and the rest of them died lol.
Going to take some more cuttings tonight and trim them up a bit then ill flip them to flower in a couple days.
Little tent shot - been lazy with photos recently. Planning to take clones tomorrow, do a nice top dress (neem, kelp, malted barley, ewc), and flip to flower in a day or two. Theyre starting to take off and Im getting a bit worried about the infamous goji stretch haha. Theyre all between 1-2ft tall, closer to 2. 4 declared males on the right, rest are inconclusive so far. Surprisingly two of the males are the shortest phenos.
what type of stretch should we expect from this?
@ramblinrose yours look amazing.
Thanks - they’ve been happy campers under the CMH that’s for sure!
From what I’ve read - they stretch like an OG - 3x stretch or so? Definitely read enough reports that were surprised by the amount of stretch. Also known for needing support.
I’ve grown Goji twice from seed and they didn’t stretch too bad either time. Definitely not 300%. They were manageable, for sure. I don’t think you have anything to worry about.
That is absolutely true haha. Mine flopped big-time. I know Bodhi described Goji as an “OG on a sturdier frame,” but that was not the case when I grew them. Staking was a must.
Check it out, @ramblinrose:
Haha! Prrrooooooobably shoulda used more than one stake… BUT, the flowers still turned out really frosty:
Haha flop city! Good to know on the stretch, was worried if 3x was true! Will have to stock up on some stakes that’s for sure.
Yeah only one of mine didn’t flop, haha. I’d say invest in stakes or yoyos now. The stretch on mine was 2x to 3x, but that could depend on your temps and lighting, influencing how much stretch you’ll actually get. Most of mine were leggy and long internodes.
I’m late as usual but here’s what is going down.
Transplanted from 1 gallons to 3 gallon. They look a bit yellow from running low on juice, should bounce right back. At least that’s what usually happens.
So far off the 6 plants. 2 on left are female. 2 in middle are unknown but thinking the one in the front is a male. And 2 on right side are def males. Like someone else said, 2 males are on the short side.
Some random pics.
That’s it really. Give them some weeks to get happy then take clones and flip.
Those roots look like ramen! Those plants will be real happy once they settle in the new soil.
Alright… so I really did win the genetic lottery. 9 Females and 1 Male! You’ll never guess who the boy ended being… THE PHOENIX! I’ll refresh your memory. The Phoenix was my #10 seed that I forgot about in the ziplock bag for a week. He pushed through and survived and now he has some nice balls. Cool story bro. He actually has a nice structure although he’s short and squat I feel like it has more to do with the roots that were damaged during germination.
Any other time I’d be pretty pleased with these results but not the best when trying to produce seeds with a fair amount of genetic variability. Not sure how to proceed from this point. Do I pollinate with the one single male? I think I was the first one to flip so my ladies are on the 10th day of flowering. If someone can get me some pollen within the next 15-20 days I should be good to go! We may even be able to push the pollination to day 35 so that would mean I would need pollen from someone within the next 25 days.
Possible? Thoughts?
The clones are doing well. Half of them have been potted and are doing good. The others are taking their time to root. N4 is especially eager to root… I’ve taken special note of this one! Look at this root production… None of them are even close to this.
That’s crazy bro…I might flip early now just to get you some pollen. What a crazy story about the forgotten seed.
These are all looking great, those are some serious roots you got there @Islayhearts
@NorthNorthNugs, 9 ladies, wow and a cool survivor story for the lone homie, love it!!
I think I’m just a couple days behind you on the flip schedule, Im down to try to get you some extra pollens ASAP.
Two of my boys were quick to drop balls and have been isolated from the group.
Excellent! As soon as you get some pollen lmk ASAP so that we can make arrangements!
want me to send you the ingredients?
