Bodhi Testers Summer 2020 - Passionfruit Hasplant (Lush X 88G13/HP)

Down goes the final contender, plant #3. She is at 64 days flowering today. She’s flopping, branches are snapping, some are already snapped and are drying, it’s a darn mess. She’s the leafiest of all three as well, a pain to trim. Dense top colas but lower buds are looking pretty weak, no light down their really. Hardly any of the tropical fruit smells like her sisters, just a subtle hashy lemon scent.

I’ll report back in a few weeks with final weights and smoke report. Plant #1 is fully dry and is at least 5oz of great nugs. That’s higher than average for what I typically get.

Gawddamn, though, she looks like a beast!

Don’t let your resentment of the way she grew affect your judgment of the way she ends up smoking haha! Just kidding around, but for real, I’ve definitely gone into my evaluations of certain plants with that sort of,”Pssshhhh… This plant pissed me off…” attitude before I smoked it haha.

Looks real good, though. Fingers crossed this one gets released. I’m gonna grab a few packs of it for sure. Have you sent your results to Bodhi yet? Any feedback?

Yo, I’ve been digging your grow! Looks like we’re harvesting at the same time: TWINSIES!!

Yeah, this 3rd plant was definitely like a 3rd child. Totally ignored and putting up a fuss. But you’re right, it’s probably gonna be some bomb smoke. There’s not much I don’t like honestly.

I’m gonna wait to dry and smoke all three before sending Bodhi the final report. This would be like my 6th time or so testing for him. I’ve only ever gotten one response, from Mrs. B. I think she combs through the reports initially, logs info, then passes any that catch her eye on to Bodhi. I used to feel kind of miffed for the lack of response but I know they’re insanely busy, and I get to grow some great stuff! I’ve rarely been disappointed by any of his strains, even the ones that didn’t make it.

It’s about time to be wrapping up this grow log with a smoke report. I’m happy to be done, and won’t be documenting grows for at least a little while. Much love to the Bodhi’s for having me be part of their tester crew.

Plant #1
Produced a little over 5oz in a 5 gal container which is higher than my usual. These have been curing a couple weeks now. They burn smooth and have very faint taste/smells of fruit and floral tones, a little spicy. The rosin has a taste of passion fruit but not really the flower so much. Very elevating smoke. Makes me want to move and get stuff done. Smoke it too late and I’ll be awake in bed with my mind racing. Great day time smoke though. Potency is like maybe a 6/10 for me.

Plant #2
This made right around 5oz in a 5 gal. This one burns a little harsher and has a more expansive smoke. The flavors have more earth and stink to it than #1, and are generally less pronounced. Potency gets a bit higher, maybe a 7/10. The effect has a bit more body but does get me stuck in my head sometimes too. The rosin does not have much flavor at all compared to #1.

Plant 3
This plant was vegged 2 weeks longer but only did about 3oz in the 5 gal, a little lower than my average. This one was clearly the more hashplant leaner, and like @minitiger called it, I’m actually liking it the best of the 3 so far despite totally neglecting it for the majority of the grow. It’s only been curing a couple days but smokes real smooth. Potency is the highest of all, like an 8-9 out of 10. It has subtle smells of lemon and hash/earth and comes through beautifully in the smoke. A perfect blend of body and mental stimulation. #3 gets the best returns on the press as well, averaging around 25%. #1 gets about 18%, and #2 is like 21%.

I’ve been handing out #2, hoarding #3, and doing about half and half with #1.

Psssshhhhh, of course the smallest yielder ended up producing the best smoke… haha!

They all look and sound real good, though. Pretty jealous of the yields, I haven’t gotten even three ounces a plant in at least three or four grows. I forget, do you grow organically? Or use bottled nutes and stuff? What’s your soil mix and “style” for lack of a better word?

I really hope Bodhi releases these, I definitely wanna grab a couple packs.

It’s been a long time since I pulled in that weight myself. These Lush plants just beasted out though.

I grow in soil (start with FFOF and Happy Frog mix) that’s amended after each round with KIS Nutrient Pack. Water only throughout the whole grow. I guess it’s organic.

I used to grow in 3 gal bags but the plants would usually be pretty lacking in nutrition by the end of it using the water only route. My average yields were typically around 2.5oz each in that setup. I moved up to 5 gal bags and now they all finish pretty healthy, and my average yields went up to like 3.5oz each. 7 gal bags got me a little more yet but not worth the extra soil.

Okay, yeah, that’s interesting. Because I’ve always gotten the best yields vs soil ratios in three gallon air pots. Usually around an ounce per. It seems like my yields have actually diminished the bigger the pots are, to the point now where I barely got two ounces from my plants grown in seven gallon pots this round. Could just be the genetics, I don’t really know. I’m not too worried about it or anything, just curious.

Thanks for the great smoke reports. You did great and they rewarded you with a big haul.

I find yields are driven by the genetics, but also correlated to amount of soil and time in veg in that soil. I try to always give them at least 2wks in their final pots after xplant before flipping. I think in organic water only soil this helps the rhizosphere to get established in support of their big growth spurts in flower, both stretch and budswell. Their roots grow all the time, but I prefer to have the roots mostly established before flipping so that they can start really transferring all the nutrition most efficiently from microbes to root hairs to buds.

This is all purely speculative.

That’s good insight, thanks @nube. I forgot to mention veg time, all my plants get 8-10 weeks veg while I wait for the flower tent to finish. I have definitely noticed the plants that show sex earlier (and therefor get up-potted earlier) seem to be much healthier than the late-showers who sometimes get transplanted same day as moving into the flower tent.

Yeah, for sure. Usually, when everything is going right, it goes like this: seeds planted in three inch starter containers. Takes 30 days for those to be ready to transplant, at which point they go into half-gallon containers. Only takes 14-17 days to fill those (usually) at which point they go into flowering containers, where they veg for 14 more days before flip. My Time Bandits vegged sloooooow, though, took eight weeks before they were ready to go into the big pots. Vegged for 69 days.

My current grow’s moving like clockwork, though. Pretty stoked about that. Put the seeds in dirt September 2, transplanting everything into the half-gallons today.

Looks like Bodhi is giving this strain the green light (not too surprised). They are being released in February at GLG along with Lush x Wookie. He’s calling these Passionfruit Hasplant, so I have updated the thread title for better search results.

That’s really cool! Lilikoi is an amazing fruit and an even more amazing flower. So fitting. I’m intrigued!!

An old colleague of mine got the Lush x Kashmir testers (released as Portable Space Ship) but never ran them afaik. I wonder if he still has them…

I picked these up and will be hunting through a few packs. Thanks for documenting this! Stuff like this is a huge help when determining what to hunt.

What a great thread! I picked up a pack of these and look forward to growing them based on what I see here.
Had 2 xtra in the pack…so one of those went right in, now up and looking good.

Feel free to post in here with those grows if you like! I’m sure you’ll both find some great plants in those packs. I’m thinking about running them in the summer again. They did great with high heat and humidity. I miss having the heady sativa smoke as well.

Ill keep you updated with what I find!
