If they just dropped out there ready to chop @Bob13
Decided to germ test a green ish grey seed i pulled from a calyx as its about the youngest of the seeds. Its from the green pheno, also put a purple pheno one in alongside but this is one that fell out.
Still might give them till the 5th before chopping though unless this green one gets growing. Wont be till friday at the earliest that these produce leafs anyway if they do.
Note to self: germinated a selection of seeds today (27th) for reference purposes.
Purple malawi
Frisian dew
Gazās 29 mix
Random fem autos
Thai passion
Finally got myself a profile pic, you lads and ladies will have to let me know if it needs editing.
Replying to myself feels a little coo-coo but hey past me. The purple malawi are already pushing 1 inch + roots compared to the other little ones that are barely 2mm at most so into the starter tray they go!
Good news! Iām now a proud father of my first ever seedling from a seed I created! one of the BB x DS seeds has cracked and is now producing a root! Sadly (not so) it is the big dark one and not the green one but there is still hope yet! onwards and fowards in time my galliant meat steed of a human body! to the next time we meet.
once you get a feel for what kind of seeds will germinate, itāll be much easier in the future to identify
I am so confused, you have all those seeds?! Thatās incredible.
When I am popping seeds, Iāll throw in a little bit of hydrogen peroxide. Like just a dash
You are far from cuckoo lol. I just figure itās their loss. Tell me more about the seeds you made! Are you a proud papa
Yeah, all those seeds on the list are in my collection. I had a lot of kind people on here offer them up for me when i asked around for autos and other strains im interested in.
If you look at the picture two weeks ago you can see the two blueberry. They now look like this, all full of seeds.
And this is the three remaining dark sparks that also were pollinated by the blueberry boys.
The seeds are nearly falling out of them as they were pollinated before the blueberry ladies and infact around 7 have fallen out. Mostly from the purple (front and centre) hopefully you can spot the seeds almost falling out in this next pic!
I ended up pulling open one of those ball looking sacks which are called calyx (i think) to see how ready the ones are inside but it looks green and someone suggested that the only real test was if they germinate (bwahaahha more excuses!) So i put one that fell out in for good measure along side the green one. And behold!
My first ever seed to germinate from something i pollinated myself!
To be honest im not sure what you would like to know but feel free to ask anything.
The dark sparks will get till next weekend then im going to chop them down and dry them because they are basically done but if anyone thinks they need more time then i will leave them to it. The buds are solid with seeds.
Outdoors everything is still looking all small and puny but it should pick up soon.
The seed that germinated is getting its own cup today so it wont be in the bag for long but i bet i could leave it in there another day, im never sure if it will help it not be so leggy or not if i let the tap root get bigger.
Legginess has to do with light. The less light they receive the more they will stretch to get what they need. That causes legginess in seedlings.
I meant in that gap between germination and pushing the shell off. The shell gets pushed off at around 2-3 inch tap root and if you put the seedling in at a 1 inch tap root it still pushes out another inch or so which can put it out of the soil a ways before itās helmet comes off
That is so cool! What are you going to name it?
Honestly never thought about it. I germ my seeds directly in the soil.
I havenāt quite settled on a name yet but I shall think on it.
@Meesh I do it to stop me digging it up in 3 days time to find out if itās popped or not.
I chopped the dark sparks yesterday, nowt to report, plants are growing, seeds now have 2 weeks to dry then we test! ā¦ Outside probably
A month is better, and even then you should freeze or refrigerate them for a week or two to simulate winter or a dormant period. I have read that seeds hit their best germination rates when they are 6 months old Diggy read three months. So I think itās safe to say, three to six months for best germination. Some seeds will germinate straight off the plant, but not all of them. If that happened in nature, seeds wouldnāt be able to make it over the winter . if there is some sort of Indian summer the seeds would germinate in the fall instead of in the spring. Sorry Iām so late replying to this one
I actually plan for this to happen, so when I plant the seed in my Solo Cup, I only fill the cup 60%. I add soil as the Sprout grows, and if I do everything right, the first leaves will appear as the Sprout reaches the top of the cup and stops stretching. It works really well, but when it doesnāt work, I either dump the little Sprout out to add dirt underneath it, to bring it up higher in the cup, or I take a lanky Sprout( usually a male) thatās too tall out of the cup, and knock some dirt off the bottom to lower it down into the cup some, and then add this dirt back to the top. The goal is to have the first leaves appear,( when the stretch phase of the Sprout is over with) when is Sprout is even with the top of the cup. I hope this makes sense.
I figured id make a post and say i aint dead, most of the action is going on where im not so i really dont have much to post at all, been popping a few seeds indoors and ill let a picture do the talking
Nice setup the plants seem to love it . What are your lights ?
