B's 2020 grow diary/gets told it's not right

Bridgelux eb2’s, they read 240 watts draw or there abouts on the controller dooodlywhatsit that’s connected to my phone all the strips are 3500k. The plants absolutely love that light compared to my old cfl setup and I can’t get over the evenness of light distribution allowing for the level canopy (or the ability to have one if I ever actually stop popping seeds)

The boredom is getting to me, small harvests from outdoors, regular rainfall and high humidity is causing some of the autos to melt, didnt feel like any photos but i had a play with a usb otg microscope that connects to my phone usbcamera20200824180825

Gonna touch on an indoor update, a week off harvest inside… As always a picture speaks way more than words.

Its my birthday coming up and im thinking of running a little year long competition that ends on my birthday next year, i will send out these same seeds to contestants and the best/most impressive grow using those seeds will recieve their pick of seeds from my collection (within reason).
Would anyone be interested?

I feel like this outdoor grow is done. I’ll try get a few pics at some point in the next few weeks but the ones left are pitiful small things that got stunted. Pretty purple colours but still the indoor buds are way nicer and my main concern now.

All in all the outdoors did alright, of the 50% of seeds planted that made it to harvest 25% mouldy and then about 80-85% of what was good bud was super fluffy but I’m glad they got that far and had a good life in the wild battling slugs and snails, rabbits, deer, storms, rain and me hahaha

The last plant and only pic

It was mostly fluffy tiny buds like that just bigger plants, none of the outdoor autos broke 3ft … boring and going to be easy to one up next year.

So my indoor grow. Thought id write a little review on that last grow. My final yeild was about 210g. Density and buds and strength of the smoke is on point, its improving daily as it cures. I believe i can improve upon the yeild because i had extra space and the side branches from the plants filled out a lot of room and gave very little bud for the space they used up. With everything into account if i can control the lower branches i should be able to get atleast a third to half the yeild again. Total grow time from seed to harvest was i think 73 days?

I would love to hear peoples thoughts on how to improve but for now i flipped my light on its side in the hopes that it will do more and started a new diary.

You could potentially increase yield by growing a single plant with a scrog net to maximise the space you have

Thing is I’m not so sure if will increase it past what a SOG can do I’m literally going for a main cola every 3-5 inches, they should give 15g average. Scrog requires more veg time to fill the space which may put my total grow time from 75 days up to 100 and I m not sure but I think it produces more smaller buds on average and not 7 inch colas in every spot. I would love to be proved wrong please don’t misunderstand  just trying to push it.

I think of i cap out at 15g every 5 inches ish in 24 x 24 inches that’s about 25 plants with an estimate of 375g or there abouts. Drop it to four inches and that’s 36 plants x 15g average… The math is yours to do. I started enough seeds expecting 50% males and enough to cull a third of the undesirable females and to hit that 36 plant count. Got the wall hanging so I can increase my room by putting the stretchy tall ones up the back and lean everything in but I’m having doubts now about the vertical and may revert to what I was doing if I cull enough.

Of course I’m going mega control on the air movement as mould will be my main concern but I really like being able to place the colas exactly where I want them which I get the scrog does give you.

My main downfall would be genetics and height as fatter buds that fill out all the way up the stem every plant would increase yield.

Yep this would be my next point. Seems like you pretty much got the optimisation figured out in your space, the next issue would be stable genetics that produce dense buds in the space. Mold shouldn’t be an issue as long as you have air flow. Couple PC fans, if you dont already use them, around the sides to circulate air should work well

Yeah at the moment circulation isn’t quite optimised as I open the door a little and stick a rotating tower fan in the gap  once I get to flower that won’t be an option because of smell. Couple of pc fans and a small cage fan on standby but not suspended in the grow space yet. I was considering sticking the tower fan in the top corner sideways but I’m not sure how to hang it without going full on bodged.
