C_in_CT's basement hydro

This is what that branch reminded me of. It’s a very nice branch, it just looks like it was fucken WIMDY.

Are these autos or just small plants or just nuggys sitting on something I like either way lol

make sure you use polarized lenses.

Definitely. I appreciate the reminder though!

Hahahaha totally…

Check our the bottom of it tho, it’s supercropped, but there’s no way I could get it to stand up the way it grew :joy:

I’m working on getting more artistic shots, so the branches have to stand up on their own, for a while, lol

Wow. I have been kinda keeping up with this thread. Y’all definitely ain’t playin. I don’t fully understand all the gibbrish but impressive none the less. I somehow feel more informed and more confused at the same time. Great stuff y’all!

Thanks! Please let me know if there’s ever anything you would like explained or want more info about or something. I’m always happy to either explain what I can or point toward resources. I only learned about any of this because other people shared information about it, so I’m glad to do the same.

I obviously have a limited knowledge set, but I am happy to share what I have!

I do some indoor. Very limited. It simply amazes me the depth y’all take it. All of the precision and managing of every molecule. I just don’t have that in me. I absolutely love the breeders/ seed maker people they make it possible for me to set it and forget it. Amazing work I say.

I am doing one of the easier versions of hydro nutrients. If you ever need evidence that you can still get something resembling weed from less than ideal nutrients, feel free to reference my dyscalculia having ass and my attempts at dosing them properly. I definitely still fucked it up. But it looks like bud so far at least! It’s healthy enough to want to pollinate itself! (which I realize is often a stress reaction)

I mostly just stick with natural soil. I hesitate to grow what someone has put such a large part of them selves into to disrespect the dedication by just letting it live or die in less than ideal conditions. Seed person: OMFG!!! What did you do to my babies! Lol

I mean if one wants to stress test their strain. I’m their man!

I understand that perspective. My perspective is that “ideal conditions” can exist for the seed but also for the grower.

If the only way people could grow was in soil, there would be no way myself or many others could grow. I think we all have our priorities when it comes to growing.

I appreciate that it’s such a versatile plant! We can all get what we need from it and it can grow in a solo cup in a windowsill, or outdoors, or in a grow tent, however we need to.

I totally agree.

As always, it was a pleasure chatting with you.

If anyone else wants some, @US3RNAM3 is giving away more of the Red Snake seeds that I also got (I misread, they’re) a cross between the Red Snake I got and one of the landrace parent strains

Go sign up if you’re interested in landrace seeds!

General poll time! Context first:

At some point when I feel up to it, I’m going to be starting on stuff for the new tent. That’ll include setting up the bus tubs, the inside of the tent, eventually starting seeds, etc.

I’m someone who gets daunted by the topics with 1.5k+ comments, because where do you even jump in? How much past stuff do I read?? Have I mentioned I overthink things?

So with those things in mind, I am contemplating whether I should start a new topic with (essentially) the complete ground up setup of my system? Or should I just do that here and link to that comment from my first post (or something like that)?

Does anyone actually go to the first post in a long thread? When it gets to “(part 4)” or whatever?

Below I have a few options that occurred to me, I welcome other thoughts. I have some time before I’ll be getting everything really running.

I have arbitrarily decided that you can choose up to 2 options:

  • Continue on this log, comment count be damned!
  • Start a new log from the bottom up and have it be a general “everything I’m growing” log (which has the potential to end up in the same “high comment count” situation)
  • Start a new log for my veg tent, and later a separate one for my flowering tent (and separate for any future tents?)
  • Start a log per “run” (complication I see there is that if I have a long-flowering sativa or something, I might have one ongoing while starting another and that feels like a lot to keep track of)
  • One log per strain (that feels like even more to keep track of)
  • Other, explain in a comment

I realize that comments are the whole point of this site. I realize I’m neurotic about things, I don’t see “many comments” as a bad thing per se, it’s just a daunting thing for some people to tackle. I tend to like siloed information more than a general pile to dig through, but again, that’s my own preference. I’ve already read the nonsense I write, so I want the most efficient way to foist it upon others.

(I promise I’ll include a picture in my next post, haven’t been to the basement yet today.)

Alright, made it to the basement! I think more buds have been pollinated. I’ve mostly decided that I’ll harvest sooner than later. Hopefully I’m wrong, but we’ll see!

Pictures then a follow-up post asking for thoughts on what seeds to start.
Overall

Potentially pollinated bud

Almost certainly pollinated bud

I’m seeing at least some similar color on many / possibly most buds (though some minorly and some I might just be paranoid about), so I think I’ve got a seedy harvest ahead of me.

Ah well, if nothing else I will have trim to consume ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I thiiiink that if everything goes well, I should be able to order the remaining needed items for the other tent some time next week. Which means: it’s time to decide on what seeds to run! Still not going to start them until I actually order the stuff, because I learned my lesson last time about trying to keep ahead of seedling growth.

I have some seeds, and some on the way from generous OG members, both are included in the table. The information below is based on the source, but also searching online, so some might be iffy.

Strain Name Cross Fem/Reg Type
Golden Goat Island Sweet Skunk x Romulan Fem Sativa Dominant
Birthday Cake Girl Scout Cookies X Cherry Pie Fem Indica Dominant
Blackberry Kush Afghani x Blackberry Fem Indica Dominant
CBD Blueberry Blueberry x Afghan CBD x OG Kush CBD Fem 1:16 THC:CBD
Hotcakes Katsu Bubba Kush x Burnt Toast Reg Indica Dominant
Blueberry Milk Mother’s Milk x Blueberry Reg Parents: SD x ID
Appalachia Green Crack x Tres Dawg Reg Parents: SD x ID
Texas Butter Banana OG Kush x Stardawg Reg Sativa Dominant
Red Snake Oaxacan '79 x Punto Rojo Reg Sativa

The feminized seeds are the ones I purchased, based on having tried strains by those names from dispensaries in the past. They’re all white label from NASC, so I realize it’s possibly nonsense.

Some considerations:

  • I would really prefer to avoid pollen next time, in any form. I’ve read conflicting information about whether feminized seeds are likely to throw intersex offspring, so if y’all have thoughts on that, I welcome them.
  • Goals for building my stash are to have at least one clear-headed sativa and at least one solid indica for sleep as soon as possible.
  • I’ll be running 3 different strains. If any don’t sprout, I’ll start another of that kind, I’ll have at least a few of each, and since I’ll have separate veg and flower spaces, I don’t have to have everything ready for flower at the same time, so starting later isn’t a problem.

I’m kind of leaning toward just running 3 of the fem seeds just to make it easier on myself and “guarantee” (I know there’s no such thing) a harvest that’ll tide me over through the next grow. But also I want to run the Red Snake ASAP.

I welcome any thoughts!

I don’t see bud rot, only pistols browning which is normal, looks like quite some time left for them to ripen…

I thought that was the “pollinated” color change, since they’re dark at the tips and white on the rest. I can only hope you are correct. They’re at day 34 of 12/12.
