Sorry it took a little longer to read through your thread than anticipated. The Mrs ended up passing me balloons and stuff to blow up for the little ones party on Sunday. Today we have the pleasure of going to cbeebies land. Had to wake up at 5am to get the dog walked and ready to go get the bus/train there. My cars clutch has gone
For the most part, everything looks super good, well thought out and clearly working for you. One suggestion I will make though is to add a bit of copper on your drain/return. Roots will naturally stay away from copper so there will be no need to chop them and stress the plant. Try to remember ābigger roots means bigger fruitsā
I also used to defoliate a lot and noticed a considerable difference when I only took leaves that would sit on buds and increase the chance of bud rot.
Seen bits about you living in new England and now I have to listen to https://youtu.be/Y8EPs0D7siE?si=B0VJEGmWWqx7d6D8
Sam fender is one of my favourite artists. And along with noah Kahan this is an epic tune. Lyrical genius at work. Especially when you think that sam fender grew up in the labour partyās new England. (Same here, millennial at work) And noah Kahan in Americas north.
Iāll be keeping a close eye here now
Did i read you were running out of head room? One thing ive done to buy a few inches of height is to toss the wire hangers that come with the light and just go with your ratchet ropes right to the light. Helps if you have 4 ropes but can be done with 2.
@TheValleyPhantom that sounds like a long day! My one concern with copper would be if it makes roots avoid it, but itās in water with nutrient salts, will it corrode and cause problems with the nutrients? If I continue to have any root issues, I may dig into that further.
That song was good! Iām a millennial as well, turned 39 this year. Grey hairs and meat smoking hobby present and accounted for with both myself and my partner. I forgot to take pictures, but we smoked some eye of round today for sandwich meat.
@BudLarfy Iām hoping not to! But thatās a good idea too. I have paracord and a 3d printer, Iāve printed some tensioners already for hanging the duct, and played around with some pulleys to make my own hangers, but decided to just start with the included ones. If I go with a 4 rope option, I will probably revisit that.
Might be a good way to keep myself occupied during the rest of flowering. I have so many other things I should be doing with my time, but that might happen. I was also contemplating a design for LST clips, so maybe itāll just be ādesign grow accessoriesā time.
Itās gonna be a very long day indeed. But itās worth it to see the little one that excited goty backpack full of munch and drinks. (Not paying Alton towers prices)
It will have absolutely no effect on your nutes whatsoever. A quick search will show you most commercially available systems come with copper inserts for your exact reasons. I had similar issues and just cut a bit of pipe to fit in my buckets.
Made a world of difference, copper also has antibacterial properties so will help to prevent any root rot Iād start looking at that sooner than later honestly. Iām waiting to see a length going spare when Iām on a job and Iāll be doing the same in mine.
Last couple of systems I have made have been gravity return with a 12v solenoid N/O that kicked closed when my pump ran to flood. Iām considering the same in this if I can get a low enough profile tote (or multiple joined with M25 sealing glands) but I donāt want to lose too much height for obvious reasons.
I recently switched to using pool shock (calcium hypochlorite) in my reservoir, and thatās keeping things very stable. If I do add copper, I wonder if I could get some of those copper scrubbers and pull them apart and stuff that into the gap between the bell siphon and the root guard. Might go that route if I try it, because then I wouldnāt have to re-re-redesign anything about the drainage, since itās working really well.
A little insert like that on your return would be enough. I imagine the scrubbers would work too. I used to use hĀ²0Ā² (I canāt figure out how to do a subscript on my phone ) but it was a pain in the arse and not too effective. Pool shock works great. I know a few people using it.
I forgot to say in my previous post. Iām 33 a month tomorrow. And Iām feeling it too
Seems we have a fair amount in common too. Iām also autistic with a slipped disc causing nerve damage. Headphones at the ready to drown out crowd noise
I generally carry (at least in my vehicle) regular earplugs, acoustic earplugs, and bone conduction headphones, so I can adjust based on my needs for a situation.
(I donāt always need any, but having them available is extremely helpful on the occasions that I do.)
I get sensory issues putting things in my ears. So I just use a pair of pioneer over ears sometimes I donāt even play music. Just have them on. Like when shopping in Tesco. The tannoy absolutely grates on my soul
Are you planning to run your cuts on the next round or trying something different? To get back on topic. You may have already said but I must have missed it
Iām tempted to run the clones again and try tweaking things. I think indulging in that instinct will lead to a rabbit hole of growing the same thing over and over and never moving forward to another strain.
I have several other bag seeds from my friend, and a handful of strains that are theoretically actually the named strains that I purchased earlier on in my planning stages. Iām still undecided on whether Iāll grow any of those or some of the other bag seeds as a āsome significant things are different this run, shaking down the new changesā approach. Or if Iāll just send it.
I vote - Send itā¦
I feel like I should expect nothing less from someone with your picture and screen name.
How many can you grow at a time? Iāll never get threw my seed pileā¦ just sayingā¦
Depending on how big I let them getā¦I can fit 3 of those bus tubs in each tent. Currently Iām equipped to run one tent. Once I can purchase the pumps required for the second tent, I can get that running. Or I set up a way to share pumps (I have thoughts on this).
So with 2 tents, and small plants, maybe 6 per tent? That puts me up against the legal limit here. 6 per person, 2 people in the household. Probably more reasonable that Iāll try to stick with 3 per tent. (I accidentally put 2 at first)
6 in flower 6 in veg to be exactā¦ legally that is here as it standsā¦ I can mail you a cut or seeds if your in needā¦
Yeah, I appreciate it! I am good with what I have for now. Like I have I think 12 or 15 seeds on hand.
I know some people plant that many in one run for a single keeper. I am not that person.
One reason the plan was always to have the two tents running is to have one flower and one veg, so I can just start seeds whenever, and if they donāt start I can toss another one in. Iād rather waste a few days in between attempts than a bunch of seeds I need to cull before I know how it grows out. Iām all about the effects, so I want a chance to try as many seeds as I have opportunity to grow, in hopes of finding one that meets a need.
Itās a battleā¦ I started 6 20+ year old seeds in June only to find 5 were malesā¦ so long season and timeā¦ small op, go for fems or cutsā¦ just my opinion tho
Yeah, the seeds I purchased were fems, and outside of extenuating circumstances, Iām going to try to avoid cuts. I donāt want to risk bringing in pest problems.
If I end up with males, my general plan is to pull pollen if I can spare the space long enough, just to be able to pass it on to others who might want it. Maybe Iāll eventually make seeds?
My general plan for growing is to take cuts from every seed I grow and keep them at least until I decide if I want to grow it again. Iām not trying to do like a full on pheno hunt, but the entire reason I wanted to grow is to find plants thatāll work for various medical needs and keep consistent access to them. So I have to be able to regrow something that works.
I vote, try the bud off your plants before you decide to keep her running. And maybe sprout a couple of other potentials so you donāt have the germ and veg time taking your next run to between 5-6 months. When you can get that a lot closer to 3 months if that makes any sense. You probably could just manifold your pumps too for the additional tent/space. As long as your res has capacity.
Some will say you should run a strain like 3 times to dial your space in for those genetics but Iāve absolutely never done that
The āoutā pump is fine to run a second tent. Itās the sump situation and return pumping that needs a per-tent solution (or a way to drain both tents to a central sump).
I donāt have super high consumption needs. Iāve been getting by on an ounce a month for over a year, was around 2 oz/month for a few years before that, and that was the high point. Vaping is very efficient. So this one harvest, if I donāt fuck it up before then, should tide me over for a minute, even with sharing some with the person who gave me the seeds.
Taking the time until Iāve actually saved some money instead of just spending more and more on the grow before I buy more equipment seems at least mildly prudent (though if the budget loosens up before that point, Iāll just get the stuff required before Iām broke again).
