Breading Bettas is inreresting, the dad spends endless hours building and maintaining the bubble raft & putting the wee ones back into the raft. The colours of the fish available now are amazing, really different from when I was a kid.

Initially I thought you were talking about breading and pan frying betta fish.

Cleaning those little guys would take endless hours for sure. :fork_and_knife::tropical_fish:

Up-potting day/evening…

Whole tent before I did anything…

Look at the roots on the little cups…

The BOG Sour Strawberry :strawberry: I took them all and dug a hole under each one and dropped in 2 packs of WOW Wallace Starter Nutrient Packs…

The 2 of the Autos (Bannana Kush & GRCD ) got 1 pack each, the other Autos got nothing :expressionless:

Whole tent after I moved things around and up-potted …

4 Female BOG Sour Strawberry :strawberry:

1 Male BOG Sour Strawberry :strawberry: got moved in with the Aquarium… Just placed the cup inside a tall jug of water so the roots are just touching the water… got that paper under to catch any falling pollen for now… I’ll have to figure something els out in a few days when I get the Aquarium running. For now he’s isolated for pollination the entire tent lol

Ps. The Pre flower pistols on the Dosidos are receded and crumpled up, so I think hitting it with some Pollen worked ,)

That’s all for now.

Just purchased this Nano Canister filter, even though this will be a planted aquarium, I want PERFECT water quality lol

This model 602B is 110V 60hz perfect for USA/Canada power grid…

After searching for many many hours looking for a “cheap” option for filters incl DIY stuff. This is the best option for $45 cad… Hell most HOB filters cost more then this lol so I juat gotta wait for it to show up from China some day in Mid December…

With those colors and patterns, I can see why! Used to breed guppies some 25 yrs ago. Then clownfish 15 yrs ago. Can’t wait to see how your tank comes together…

Plants are looking nice and healthy too!

If you really want ‘a show’ hold up your wife’s compact mirror to the side so the fish can see itself…

I used to keep south American cichlids. I bought an albino Oscar at Walmart it was about an inch long. I grew that rascal for about 6 years in a 70 gallon tank. When I sold it because of a move across country, it was about 12" long. Beautiful white and orange markings.

I had chichlids for a few years before Reef Keeping, mostly Yellow labs, blues and reds.

Oscars like to mess up your tank. Push stuff around. Mine use to knock them selves out hitting the glass lid at night.
I had a snake head that grew to about 20" long till I gave him away. That guy could eat!

There used to be a tropical fish store on Kingston Rd. in Toronto (1965-ish) that had 10" Oscar that liked to have it’s stomach scratched like a dog.

The owner showed it to me, I could not believe what I was seeing…

Yeah. Oscars turn into pretty good pets. I had mine in a long 70 gallon tank and that fish would race me the length of the tank. Plus if I stuck my hand in the tank he would do figure 8’s around my wrist and hand. They are messy but very cool. Frickin turds as big around as a number two pencil.

Lol, I had a red belly Pacu (fruit eating piranha) it got huge his name was chomp-chomp. I had to put cinder blocks on the lid cuz he would throw temper tantrums if I didn’t pet him every time I walked by. He was about 17" long. He out grew the 75 gallon tank he was in. When I lived on Padre Island I had fish tanks in every room. It’s pretty bad when the tropical fish store has less fish than I did. He would borrow my diatom XL pump from time to time to polish the water and equalize the ph. I had to use it everytime I fed chomp-chomp cuz the bananas would murk the water.
