When most people drop a few seeds, @Mithridate drops a few handfuls.
Sad but true hahaha
Sounds like a dream
If your dream is about endlessly filling 4" pots, writing 100 pages of notes a week and watering 4 hours a day, sure
Honestly anything to do with the plant is fun
It’s keeping it small scale that’s the most fun.

Greetings @CADMAN,
Thanks for this great thread, I’ve just finished reading it top to bottom and rode the roller coaster of joys and sorrows along your path. I totally admire your gumption! Handling setbacks with grace and style is a rare gift. I’m following along to see how the story unfolds.
My next grow will be experimenting with the micro-octopots (ala @firehead, @SaintAliasKnife, @GramTorino, @Nagel420…) so I’m especially curious to see how your DIY version plays out. If you don’t mind my expressing a concern it would be that your soil may remain too damp. That is a problem others have had with this system. I also wonder if you intend for the roots to grow down through the net pot into your rez?
Best regards,
-Grouchy
Hey
Thanks for taking the time to read thoroughly throughout this thread, it’s a long one and full of my ramblings haha Much Appreciated …
Experimenting is fun Love DIY & trying to do things on the cheap is always a goal lol
For the DIY Octopot/Earthbox box and the continuous damp/Most soil, I thought out this too and I’m going with the assumption that it’s gonna be OK, only based on that SIPs & Earthboxs are basically sealed unit besides a watering pipe to have any soil dampness evaporate naturally. I’m hopeful this is the case for my DIY as well. If not, if I run into problems I could just remove the plastic bag to allow air evaporateation via the hole around the plants stalk.
I also thought about the roots growing out of the soil container, via but load of holes I’d drill into the container bottom. I’m probably gonna make 1 or 2 like this and the rest without holes in the bottom to see what one works better.
Stay tuned over the next few months to see how things turn out
