CADMANs Cannabis Thread!

I do, only because I can not grow up there…lol. I am a firm believer in using all the space we can.

Just curious on this, for culturing lactobacillus, why would the fat content make a difference?

For culinary purposes, I understand the difference in why you would want skim milk yogurt vs whole milk yogurt vs sour cream, but for just getting a culture wouldn’t skim milk be preferable as all of the fat is discarded anyways?

The way I looked at it skim would also be preferable in the sense that there should be slightly more lactose per volume(because of the lack of fat, fat is removed, nothing is added, therefore lactose is now a larger % of the liquid).

Also, most store bought milk would be pasteurized (not sure on Canadian laws, but in the states all is pasteurized, most UHT). My understanding was always that the reason you cover with cloth or mesh was to allow airborne bacteria to culture the dairy.

Don’t mean to come across overly critical, just want to see if there is something I’m missing and iron out any misunderstanding of the science and reasoning on either side.

Glad to see your Sour Strawberry is getting back on track!

Can’t wait to see what these seedlings are going to do…keeping my fingers crossed for some real strawberry stinkers!!

Your right. Skim milk, 2% milk would have a higher lactose count in it…

I’ve known people who have made it with Raw cow milk & Goat milk and Pasturized Cow/Goat milk UMT or HTST methods…

Personally I wanted to try this with cream mainly because I didn’t have enough milk at home that day lol and because it has a higher bacteria/microbes count VS Lactose count.

An experiment for the masses to see how well this works, Or doesn’t…

Thanks me too. I’m hopeful for some badAss bud & seeds this time.

I did some reading, because this logically makes sense; it turns out whole milk and skim milk are virtually identical in lactose content, with skim coming in either a shade lower, or equal to whole. Cream is almost dead last, but as long as the lactose concentration is higher than the air, the solution should favor lacto loving bacteria.
I also checked on a lactobacillus study that was exploring how the fat content of a medium effects lacto-according to that study it has no effect.
Here’s the lacto chart:

Red solo cups have SS F3s , I’m assuming since 2 are a bit larger then the rest they could be males.

But here is all the baby’s as of this moment.

Alrighty then … I got around to drilling the rest of my DIY Earth Box/Octopots

8 in tottal we have ( not all assembled in photo )

1x Dilled & smashed the bottom ugh. So this one will be watered Via Evaporation only. Meaning the rez won’t have a drain hole, so the only place the water can go is UP…

6x Done correctly lol

1x I’m not cutting the last one up cause it’s my " Humidity Dome "

Will fill the net pots with Cotton balls, then fill the container with HP Promix Mycorrhizae & fill the Rez to the drain hole, leaving about 1" air gap between the water and the bottom of the container.

Ps. The net cup comes pretty close to touching the bottom of the rez, so it will be able to soak up 98% of the water + Nutrients.

really cool stuff! how do you go by refilling them with water/nutrients?

Yeah the cracking is why i stopped drilling holes and melt them in with a shit soldering iron.

Looking forward to seeing them all up in action!!! :hugs:

Just lift off the top container that’s filled with Soil, then pour the water + nutrients into the rez till the drain hole. Replace the container.

This gives me full access to the rez to inspect, clean if needed, same for the roots…

Yeah I should probably pick one up some day lol

I’m always lurking myself lol

Hiigh @CADMAN, I hope you don’t mind me popping in. I used to do a lot of wicky things, so you’ve got my ears pricked up!

Have you ever used cotton balls for a wick before? I haven’t either, but the reason I ask is because I started out using cotton ropes, and they all rotted before the plants finished. Synthetic stuff like microfiber strips seemed to work the best for me.

When I ran net pot style cups as wick holders, I packed the cup as tightly as I could with the soil, no fiber type wick. It pulled the moisture up just fine, and gave the roots a little more space to move into, and didn’t fall out.

I’ll be over in the corner now!
