Cannabis Current Events (Part 1)

RI is soo far behind, but hopefully change is coming soon.

I’m intrigued by the $100 license for “small-time cultivator” they mentioned? Beyond the 6 plants I’ll be able to legally grow… what does that get me, as a small-time cultivator? Can I set up a table at the local farmers market and sell eights, right next to the guy selling local honey?

“I would like someone to explain to me why this is being wrapped around, ‘Oh, the children, the children,’” she said. “What we’re discussing here is clearly a parenting issue, not a business issue.”

“We’re also doing Delta-10, it’s like a super sativa,” Warrender says. “It blasts you rather nice.”

At least they’ll let you grow! NJ has no growing in our recently passed legalization. They’re still so far from allowing it that the current “homegrow bill” they’re working on is just removing mandatory minimums for it. There will still be legal repercussions.

And they had a nice little summit with PA and NY awhile back to present a uniform front with the tri state legalization effort. So unless something changed PA and NY were in agreement to roll with no homegrow. Greedy assholes.

Canada has a THC limit of 18%.

You are right it’s a parenting issue, same as with alcohol and tobacco, you don’t see alcohol or tobacco capped at a certain percentages or how much you can buy at once.

I see this as a new way to control the seed market, if strains are being sold with higher than capped percentages, they will then regulate what and where you can get them, allowing prosecution and fines for those that don’t comply. They have to find something for all the DEA officers sitting around with nothing to do because cannabis is no longer a viable target.

Edit, also the more people that grow their own the less tax dollars they make, so they can make the tax money up selling the seeds instead of the weed.

Yeah, NJs laws are crazy backwards… but, I just read yesterday that someone in the govt is submitting a new bill, to allow home growers? I’ll try to find the link…
The RI laws might end up being terrible too, because they sit hand in hand with NJ, when it comes to corrupt govt officials.

There’s an article floating around about the removing the mandatory minimums that is labelled “home grow bill”.

re: Rhode Island, the governor’s proposal, which is already in the budget, does NOT allow plants:

Both plans allow adults 21 and older to purchase and possess up to one ounce of marijuana. However, only the lawmakers’ bill provides a home grow option, with the governor’s a series of fines and penalties for personal cultivation of any number of plants.

Cannabis can prevent major chemotherapy side effect, Israeli study suggests

They monitored 500 chemotherapy patients, and found that nerve damage, a common side effect, manifests itself far less among those who take cannabis.

“legalization” looking a lot like Prohibition…keep in mind no one in this town is even allowed to leave their house after 6PM!

Yeah but folks like this go way over the top. They take advantage of the medical laws and flood the black market with product. The article also said “Police also found cocaine, crack, methamphetamine, fentanyl, magic mushrooms and more”. You can bet they will never raid my legal 4 plant grow.

Yeah but they raided 8 houses. All of those other drugs could have been in the possession of one person.

They want you to think all of them as one continuous entity instead of a bunch of different individuals, but they didn’t give us any evidence to support that point of view

It’s quite possible. The way they report stuff has always been ridiculous. Like giving you the value of a seizure by saying well at $15 a gram it’s worth millions, lol. If the plants they took were evenly distributed to the 8 locations that would mean 162.5 plants per location. No matter how you slice it that is ridiculous. Hey I hate the cannabis laws as much as the next person but at some point when you look at certain busts one cannot help but think they asked for it. These are not home growers they busted with those numbers.

I hate they.
