In a strange turn of events, Gov. Ron DeSantis has come to save the Florida Hemp Industry in hopes that it will help him defeat Amendment 3 (Legalization of Cannabis for Adult Use) in November. He just vetoed a hemp bill that would have banned all synthetics in the state.

I hope that their qualified immunity is revoked. Possible under a civil rights violation but doubtful being NYC.

It seems like a curse to those who misunderstood what it is. We said it was heavy stuff in the old days.

Always thought the pot biz would boom/bust because it’s exotic to many but still, not like lettuce that everybody eats and farmers grow on multi-acres that aren’t taxed to death.

Once pot is legal nationally, a few companies with bankrolls will swoop in buy up the better existing businesses, influence states to cut the taxes and regs and they’ll pump it out like they pump out hot house tomatoes. Perfectly shaped, bland stuff that keeps and ships well. And eventually, the pot business will morph into another 7/11 grocery store item.

If you want it, grow your own, naturally. It’s a weed, easy to grow. You don’t need all the chemicals and junk in weed suppliers shelves developed during the “boom” phase. All you need are some seeds, a good organic potting soil, add some worm castings and maybe a little pumice to keep airation in well drained soil and sun and you’ve got it. Enjoy it, but try not to overdo it. Peace.

I love how excessive tax and regulation is barely talked about.

This reminds me of the casino craze that happened. All these states wanted to cash in on casinos/ gambling. They looked at the Vegas model and saw great potential. As more and more states legalized gambling the profit model changed for profit

you mean increasing the supply decreased the profit? and you say the same thing will happen with pot?

/s…

couldn’t help myself.

So that study from 2019 That concluded that those who used pot daily were three times more likely to have a psychotic episode compared with someone who never used the drug was fearmongering.

Not exactly… the new study is just a corelary analysis of a whole bunch of other studies.

The findings are interesting. Pre existing mental disorders raise the likelihood, and young women are the most at risk (strictly in term of age/gender factors)

you can read the text and tell that. just reading the interpretation will point that out and the real reason for the study, to try to limit the availability of high potency pot. i’ll quote it for those who don’t want to click the link:

“Differences in frequency of daily cannabis use and in use of high-potency cannabis contributed to the striking variation in the incidence of psychotic disorder across the 11 studied sites. Given the increasing availability of high-potency cannabis, this has important implications for public health.”

the findings part right above the interpretation points to this conclusion as a foregone fact. in other words, they started out looking for something, and then they found it. mp real surprise there.
