Carbon filter. Need advice

I have used two filters so far. A can 705 that has a 2.5 inch carbon bed depth that worked great when my lights were a meager 60 watt. Currently I’m using a Can lite 1500 plastic with a carbon bed depth of 1.25 inches, it works, but it leaks a tiny bit of smell. Since upgrading my lights, I’m looking to upgrade my fan filter system. I’m looking for advice on brand and models something around 100 CFM

I’m happy with my Vivosun 6". Zero smell. It is big and heavy, though.

Vivosun or even ipower, I run there 4 inch model in a 600w hps in a 3x3 tent. I pull 200cfm through it no problem.

In hindsight, a 4" would have been more appropriate for my 36" x 20" tent. A few more inches of head space in the tent would be nice.

My 4 inch makes my tent look like it’s about to implode on itself, even with an intake fan.

I read carbon filters are designed to run continuously for 2 years, I feel that is kind of pushing ur luck, also humidity over 60% will reduce the effectiveness of the can.

Just some things to keep in mind when sizing a carbon filter

Edited cuz I’m stoned

Pretty sure mine is reversible, in the sense that you can switch ends. The bulk of the air passes through the end near the exhaust fan, therefore the carbon at the opposite end has more “life” left in it. Switch the ends and pull more air through the “fresher” end for extended life. That’s the theory, anyway.

Even if mine isn’t designed to do so, I’ll make it happen when the time comes.

I power and vsun are good filters. I run a 8" in my smoke room to knock out smells and it works great, I have a phresh 10" in my room, even next to the plants you can’t smell them unless you touch them.

I know some of the nicer filters u can swap ends to use all the carbon. Phresh comes to mind

After a year I wrap duct tape around the third that is closest to the fan to force the air through the unused carbon.

I’ve used Rhino filters for a few years now, pretty good far as I’m concerned
