Well, here goes nothing… no comments in 7 days, another reason I’ll be abandoning photo periods for a bit and going back to my love for Autos… plus we need the 30 day rotation to keep better stock of meds too… and Autos makes that possible. Goal is 4 plants every 40 days for a 70 day plant on average…

Here are the 3 photo periods I have left after losses and culling males.

Hey bubba… thanks, just takes a small post like yours to motivate a guy…

How you been? Did you get any of Ottafish’s giveaway’s… ? If not he gave me thousands of a few… be happy to share. I’m going to get back at it with my Auto growing again. Hoping my Gabagoo Seeds stock arrives within 2wks finally and I can start the fun… I just like the 40 day rotation of harvesting also, we tend to run out of meds otherwise… like now… hahaha

Not quite available yet, but oh so close. I finally talked with Argo and he’s just been super busy with work, buying a new car and walla, back in debt… lol.
Think I’ll send him $20 for shipping to speed things up and plus he shouldn’t have to pay for that after helping me/us, out… very soon though, and I’ll start a post on Gabagoo F4…

Still so close you can taste it I’m sure . Happy for you!

Hey man, you never got back to me on that phone… will it work on your program?
LMK so I can send it to ya’s…

Take a good peek at these photo periods, when these 2 are done I’m putting them away while I grow autos for a few months and hopefully fill some big jars.

Put them into the smaller tent with the Spider Farmer SF1000 light, equal to about a 200w light… only thing I dislike about it, the dimmer switch is located under the ballast… so ballast has to be removed off of the light, then pop out the rubber plug and hopefully find a screw driver to turn the screw a bit… so I just leave it set as it came from the factory… luckily it’s not strong enough to burn the plants even when they grow within inches of it…

Here are the 2 Blue Destroyer by G&M in the smaller tent

I use the venting system Mars Hydro gave me to clear the heat out of both tents by running a passive ducting from the drawing tent and connecting the 2 tents

How is that marshydro venting system? Yes that will work with my plan. Dude my auto game has gone to straight shit. Out of the last idk 20 autos I tried to grow 2 got about 9" with about 7 grams on each those were my best. The rest died or looked like this at 49 days. I know I can grow autos and you’ve seen me do it but not anymore.

This super skunk auto is doing the best so far but as you can see I topped to late so have a bouquet of bud tops growing instead of a cola.IDIOT!

Starting autos in solos makes them stay really small…as soon as the main taproot hits a side or bottom they start to presex…
Most auto’s also do not do well with transplants–so start the seeds in whatever pot you plan to grow them out in…they get MUCH bigger!!
That said-- that Skunk is looking good…but yeah- some strains don’t take well to topping…next go around, try fimming after the 3rd set of true leaves! :+1: :green_heart:

She beat me to it…
l preach and preach to never, EVER start autos in anything smaller then a 1gal pot and it must be plastic and not felt to start them in… it gives the plant a chance to establish its root ball before going to air pruning in a felt pot… run them in 1gal plastic pots until they sex… usually around 3wks.

Stay away from Indica dom Autos for size… sometimes with genetics there is nothing you can do about it. My first auto was Sour60 and was tiny… but, she was so icky sticky I couldn’t just walk away from Autos… so I kept working it and by my 3rd grow I’d come up with something that worked quite well for me.

Another thing that will stunt them bad… over watering or just keeping soil to moist. After plants are a week old and established, try allowing them to dry out more between grows but not to the point of the plant wilting… but even then it’s just stress and can be good done correctly…

And when you do water, don’t over water. Mine are in 2gal felt pots and get watered every 2 days by hand… fed every other. Each container gets on average 4 cups. water when lights come on not going off, plants need the vigor at lights on grown indoor…

Regarding transplants… I have to go against ya on that one Lady Zandra… every book I read or forum I found agree’d with you on this… I do like to start feminized seeds in their 2gal pots, but watering early on is challenging…

Actually, Autos do quite well up potting at week 3. and I found this out on accident when I started 15 Autos in 1gal pots because I had to sex them all 1st.
because I did not have room for 15 2gal felt pots, nor the $ for all that soil… so this dictated I tried something on my own.

When I up pot mine, I wait a week for them to get established and then I put them on 12/12 for 2wks… (Ssshhhh, don’t tell anyone this secret) lol. “I Feel”
that even autos have a photo period within lying in wait… when you do this it kicks it in the butt and they go nuts.

I’ve broken all the rules with Autos… my last 2 grows with them I’ve actually grown my autos under 12/12 from seed and am amazed at their size still…

Do not over feed, do not keep to wet, and solo cups are for beer pong

Air movement is key, but that’s with any plant photo or Auto… my bro Pa-Nature has always had the most killer veg game ever… we talked about it and he swears the best kept secret is… FANS. especially early on in a plants life, he wants his baby plants swaying in the wind. I bought new fans and tried this and was amazed at just how that little adjustment changed things up…

Your not vegging under Blurple LIghting are you?? worst thing you can do for an auto… the best thing I can recommend to change anyones game and it cost almost nothing… Add a few HLUX daytime spectrum LED lighting… I grabbed a pair of 2 for $36 2ft long, the 4ft pair are less then $75… when I started using them people were asking me why my veg game was so awesome… gifted them away and need to get another pair, get rid of this Spider Farmer SF1000…

Thanks @Lady.Zandra63 and @carty no I don’t veg under a blurple. My grow area is in our plant room that has a big east facing window. It’s for the banana plants, aloe, wandering Jew, Christmas cactus. I have 2 4’ lux seedling/ cloning strips in my “veg closet” I have my vivosun 100w thinking to jump to my viparspectra 150w. I’ve always liked the 150w so much more than the vivosun but it was free so hey why not.

All we grow is Indica-dominant… even in autos…that means they will show sex sooner than Sativa Dominants–so have to be handled differently, since their roots systems establish faster…
I start them and grow them out in 3 gallon plastic planters …they get some decent size to them- but as Carty Stated-it is dependent on genetics!

I Like to use a really good pre-nuted potting mix (organic if possible, like a mix of Happy Frog with extra pearlite and some seed starter if I can’t find M3 mix) wetted well and packed into the planter around a x-large solo-cup in the center … Then I remove the solo cup and pack the hole with pre-wetted seed starter…
This allows the seed to sprout naturally and use-up it’s energy from the cotyledons before the roots reach the richer soil…kind of a transplant without moving the seed or disrupting roots or giving the seedling nute overload.
That way- once they start blooming, the only feed they need is bloom nutes-- I usually use granular rubbed into the top of the soil-- liquid amendments only if/when the plants show me they need it.

Every soil is different when it comes to watering, so does your environment…
Carty is where it is often humid, and is using a soil that holds moisture well… but some mixes dry fast…or you may have a dryer environmendt…so do the old-fashioned ‘lift and knuckle’ test…
Lift the planter when you know it is dry to feel it’s weight, and again after watering so a simple ‘lift’ can help you judge how dry it is!
Then stick your finger down into the soil past your 1st knuckle…if it is cold and damp AND the planter feels heavy, don’t water yet!
If you can’t feel any moisture and it feels light when you lift it- time to water.
At least once out of every 4-5 watering’s should be a deep one so a small amount leaks out the bottom–if you do not do that, the roots will not grow down into the planter as quickly to search for the water and nutrients in the soil. A shallow root system = a smaller/weaker plant with smaller yeilds.

Yep!! Agree on that! Unless you are growing a bunch of photos, and need to cull weak plants-- or are ding a ‘challenge’ grow- don’t use Solo’s - especially for Autos!
And the 12/12 thing is not that uncommon- It helps get them to bloom faster-- but the faster they start to bloom, the smaller the plants will be…which, in a smaller environment, can be a good thing!

So many cool things we can learn and share about this wonderful plant… I tend to be a rule breaker who HAS TO find out for himself is this or that is true. Deadvet taught me, if it works for you, work it. That man grew some of the most wonderful plants using his KISS method. MG soil, Calmag, bloom booster week 6 & 7. Other then that, it truly is in the plants genetics.
When the Auto shows sex is everything… my first grow of Sour60 took 10 days. The plants were 10" tall but swelled up to the size of a coke can…
Actually used it to create my Gabagoo, but by isolating larger pheno’s to work with shorty rarely shows now Gabagoo is at F4.

LZ … I absolutely LOVE your idea of the seed starter mix… ever thought of cutting the bottom off the cup and leaving it in until plant establishes up against it’s edges… might assist in controlling moisture early on too… just a thought…
Hey, read up on Soma Boxes… I ran them one year outside… back when I was really trying the next best idea a lot outdoors…
