Carver Farms' Scorpion Candy thread

Congrats on a Krazy grow @rasterman
Beautiful stuff! !

My chosen dad hasn’t grown any male flowers yet. I take from this (and other reversals this past summer), that in the future I need to start spraying a week before flip.

The chosen mother is about to turn purple and as I recall, harvest should be around Christmas, so I’m not making any seeds this run either.

HOWEVER, I will continue spraying until I have male pollen and my next set of clones (two in one pot) are ready to flip. Then I can just pollinate and go…

Great news - sacks!

I’m going to wait until I have plenty of pollen before flipping the next mom to flower but I’m saving a space for her in the tent.

I’m expanding my goals as regard this strain. I’m still waiting on enough pollen for a selfing project. But I started thinking I’d like some regs, and decided to turn it into an IBL (or at least a BX3). Still making feminized seeds though.

So I started digging through my seeds and decided to pop this pack of Pakistani Chitral Kush and use its males to start the project.

So I guess I’ll also be doing a PCK repro on another thread.

I don’t think I’m going to get enough pollen this time around to do anything with. But she is making enough to create ten or fifteen seeds on herself. The damnable misery is that the Mega Maid clone next to her is doing the same thing.

So what I’ve got is a mixture of selfed Scorpion Candy and Scorpion Candy x Mega Maid.

… which is actually pretty cool. No worries though. I have two Scorpion Candy clones in a five gallon pot ready to flip. But I won’t flip this time until I have a vial of pollen.

I ordered some more STS and it should be here on Wednesday. I took clones from my backup clone, and up-potted it to a 3 gallon this morning:

I’ll start spraying her a week before flip so I can get better male expression.

And I’m going to make a LOT of seeds. The “mom” is these two clones in a five gallon tall pot:

As you can see, she’s long overdue for flipping. I’ll up-pot her to a 7 gallon, maybe today to get ready for flip. I’m just going to flip them both at the same time and have faith that I’ll get a lot of pollen this time.

Edit: Actually, I’m not going to do that. I’ll put the “male” on 12s a week before the female, maybe two. She goes into flower fast and I want to get maximum pollination and still have seeds ripe by the time she finishes.

Awesome! Great work my friend

This plant in a 3 gallon, was supposed to be the seed mom. In a way, I’m glad because the last Scorpion Candy harvest is all gone and this one is 12 days from harvest!

So this is basically the dregs of my first Scorpion Candy harvest. After rolling, I would carefully scrape all the leftovers and dump them back in the jar.

I just smoked half a gram, maybe a touch more, and Shazayam! :fire:

Edit: *I meant to say that I smoked it because that’s all that’s left.

My chosen dad is being put on 12s today. I sprayed her and stuck her in the tent. I recall that last time when I tried this, my dad was on 12s for a few days before I started spraying and I hope that was the problem.

Here “he” is in a 3 gallon:

The mom goes in as soon as I notice balls and she’s already huge in a five gallon.

Wish me luck! I don’t want to do this three times.

I just chopped the plant I had put in a 3 gallon for making seeds and it yielded more than I got last time - probably closer to two ounces.

I have a lot of extra room in my tent now and am considering putting the next mom on 12s this weekend.

She’s resisting being reversed. I’ve been spraying for 12 days, most days twice. I think the flowers are turning male, but not sure yet and couldn’t macro in enough to know for sure. But hopefully this week…

My understanding was that it takes longer for the reversed flowers to appear than would natural male flowers. Also, I got pollen spraying on a 4-7 day interval, certainly not daily or twice a day. It took a while though. I wonder if spraying that much is actually suppressing flower.

I’m no STS or seed making expert but reversed a fem auto flower last summer. I’m sure someone else will chime in

Also it seems like you want your female around 3 weeks for best seed production.

I started my reversal with Silver Thiosulfate five days before flower. Then, every 4-5 days for a total of five treatments. I only used 55-60ml of finished STS solution.
She was throwing balls everywhere!

Really? I did?
Good to know!
Glad I could be of service bud. :slightly_smiling_face:

That occurred to me too. I’m toxifying it so it needs a couple of days off.

Worst case just collect the male flowers, dry them and pollinate your mom whenever she’s ready. I wouldn’t stress about timing the two synchronously especially if you are having difficulty with the reversal.

Field effect is exactly right, it’s not often a reversed female gives that visible dumping effect, you can take them, dry them and then disperse. Or you can actually grab the pods as they dry themselves (white/yellow ) then roll them between two fingers and the pods will open and the pollen forced to the front, if you have a black/dark background you can physically watch the dust fall and spread. This is what I just did after drying/spreading which was a pain in the ass, the individual sacks was so much easier.
