My GF has an 80 lb pit (I say she does because I hate this dog with the force of ten holocausts) and they need to give her sedatives for him before bringing him in to trim his nails, and even sedated they need a few people leaning on him.

His reaction to nail clippings I believe is my fault⌠He trusted me when he was a puppy until one day I clipped too close and clipped the quick (nerve). Yeah, NEVER again was he calm when clipping nails⌠Funny thing, nail clipping service is how we found the new vet. Originally $5.33 now its $12. STILL a steal, I couldnât pay a friend $60/hr to get them to hold him down, vet does it in 5 mins⌠They donât like sedatives for him though because of the boxer genes, bracyphellic (short nose) dogs have issues⌠Even though his is more pittie than boxerâŚ

Have taken him to 5 or 6 dog salons to get his nails clipped. Even muzzled I take him in and walk outside to wait the 30 seconds it takes for an employee to pop out and ask me to come get my dog as he isnât cooperative and is terrifying the staffâŚ
The vet has a âchill protocolâ which includes a sedative the night before his appt, another the morning of and then we repeat the procedure from the dog salon anyway.
I keep his claws manageable with lots of walks. (Hour and a half a day min)
All that walking keeps my ass where itâs supposed to be tooâŚ
Oh salons donât cut it. She has to take this idiot to the vet or itâs not getting done.
In fairness we donât know what his life was like before she adopted him and he seems to be intimidated by some males, mainly me despite never laying a finger on him. His ears are cropped too so thatâs usually a sign of someone who wanted a âbadass pitâ instead of a pet to love so no idea if thereâs some abuse there.
I love animals and dogs in general, always had a soft spot for them so for me to say this dog is an asshole means heâs an ASSHOLE. Someone out there might enjoy an 80lb dog who doesnât listen to shit, has bit me unprovoked, whines all the time no matter what, has no idea his size and will bound around knocking shit over, and just exudes dickhead vibes- but it ainât me. Top it off with the fact that I canât get near him to even get him back inside without worrying about being bit means he gets to do whatever he wants.

Welcome to my illegal growroom America! No but even if this dog made a miraculous turnaround the bridges are burnt. I want to see him have a good home and life but not around me.
The GF has finally conceded to giving him away (supposedly) so thereâs hope. There are people out there who love goofy dumbasses like him and everyoneâs life in this house improves from him going to that type of home.
