I had a couple of casting machines (centrifugal as well as vacuum), with the kiln, mold making equips etc … all the accessories but gave all that up when we semi-retired. sold all of that stuff now we just do free strung gem stones necklaces n carvings and silversmithing

I preferred the ‘Lost Wax’ method over the vacuum csting

Thanks Johnny. Carving is a lot of fun. I started when I was healing from the accident.

not disappointing at all my talented friend! lol I know how it is though, as the artist, you’re always your own worst critic!

The entire thing, carving and silversmithing took about 2-3 hours start to finish

I wanted a much deeper orange and red but the pigment in the paint is not dense enough, and when you reduce it to go through the airbrush and be semi transparent it becomes washed out. This was the colour depth I was trying to achieve.

Very nice!

I never did try airbrush artwork, but I thought about it now n then lol then I rethought that idea!

Yeah the painting bit is relatively easy, its all the prep work and paint chemistry you have to learn to stop it falling off whatever you painted it on that’s a pain in the ass lol.

I learned as I wanted a customized bike and could not afford it. With all the money I have spent of equipment I could have paid someone to do it 4 times lmao.

I have a 1962 Dodge D100 that I want to put some custom artwork on. I wish I could get you in on that Shadey!
Very cool effects on this work.

A perfectionist huh? …‘if ya want something done right, do it yourself’!

edit… lol I know that feeling well!

Yeah thats kind of my moto, but more like if I want something done cheap, do it yourself, but do it properly lol, and probably behind the reason I do anything.

That was odd, @JohnnyPotseed . I posted that when I left my house and it was just showing as cycling, then when I got back home and re attached to wifi it posted it a second time!

lol that too! The prices some people charge for a bit of art work is beyond belief! I always say those folks that charge so much hold themselves in much too high esteem

edit… I always charged below wholesale for any of my stuff anything someone bought they could find it was always worth much more. So, bunch of happy customers, always!

that reminded me of a funny story… we had a mobile shop trailer with display cases and awning etc. A lady from new York stopped to look at things. She says, ‘that ain’t real, it’s much too cheap’… I told her it was and she tried to argue with me about it! lol I shut her up finally by saying. ‘look lady, if it’ll make you happy, I can raise the price just for you’!

edit… naturally, she walked off in a huff lol

edit… We take pride in advertising that we use ONLY all natural gems and real silver!

But it’s true! It takes talent to do that stuff cuz

edit… lol , ooops! I didn’t pay attention to the ‘Yall’ part I reckon that’d include me as well. so that’d make my statement look a bit conceited! lol my bad
