I got the feeling that chit chat on āseriousā grow threads was a No-No, and that the whole point of FSFC and this chat thread was to keep our chat and seed sharing contained and NOT to infect the rest of the OGverse with it.

Seriously though, if the chat gets out of hand in my thread I just PM whoever it is and continue the conversation from there. Simple enough and no big deal.
I expect some want a big party time in their thread too so to each their own.

Honestly I enjoy that all the chat is one place if I want to read the chat I get to read the chat if I want to read everyone grows I can read their journals focused around their grows I usually donāt have much time do though so when itās condensed into one spot makes it a little easier for me anyways who do a lot of fly bys lol as well I agree with @Dirtron in my experience thereās growers who use their journals as personal notes and logs and rather not have a lot of unrelated conversations
I didnāt mean just grow thread, If you spread that over all the thread, all kinds of threads. Add all the smoker lounge threads. I am new so will crawl back into my hole

What Iām seeing is a lack of communication- constructive and polite communication- between users and moderators about how to best move forward. Instead itās just hints and then snapping at us.
If people are unhappy itās because thereās a lack of clear and helpful communication and a lack of dialogue about how people actually enjoy the āwater coolerā and are more eager to participate in the community as a result. People are coming on here and saying theyāre being discouraged from participating by these abrupt and rude actions, and it seems like nobody in charge is listening.
i do exactly the same thing doug, look thru unread, then new, then the chat. update mine as i see neededā¦ and when its dead in chat, i dig deeper and search for random shit becuase theres no new or unread left
Thatās what Iām saying. I keep hearing how the chat makes it harder to find answers to grow questions because youāre wading through chatter, so we use a thread where thereās no incentive to search for grow info- big problem somehow.
I donāt mind banter in my grow thread. Itās like someone stopped by to check out my grow room and stayed to bullshit for a minute which I prefer to a sterile ānice plantsā āthank youā thread 
The thing is the issue isnāt really with the banter. No one is coming in here and complaining about it. It has more to do with the free seeds part. I think the misconception is that everyone hangs in there hoping to scoop seeds all day, like weāre faking small talk up until itās time to compete for beans. If that was the case I could completely understand the irritation, but itās not.
If anything it makes it feel less community like. In the FSFC thread everyone is just enjoying each otherās company and someone comes along and throws some seeds out, itās casual. Now itās āhey I am giving out seeds in that thread soonā. Ok so weāll head over there and I guess try not to chat with each other, just dib or answer questions, congratulate the winners and thank the host of the giveaway before coming back here and acting like that scenario isnāt weird as fuck compared to what we had?
Not at all. Youāre allowed to have a different opinion and voice that. Just like irl own any opinion you have, decide if itās important enough to discuss with those who may not agree by voicing it, and know that by voicing it youāre inviting the opposing side to respond. But never feel like you canāt speak your mind if it means enough for you to consider it.

exactly! half the times I answer trivia with silly answers, just becauseā¦ a third of the time I just dont have the interest in the strain, and a sixth of the time Iāll answer because I want a shotā¦ But I donāt really see anybody whoās expressed purpose is be on that thread to collect seedsā¦ as a seed whoreā¦ but people who want to find em can and will IF they participate in the community! To me, thats the win for OG, that thread increased participation and fostered meeting new peopleā¦

lol I donāt do updates daily, unless something changed overnight, I usually just do em every 2-4 days! 
2L soda bottles with water, I 3D print a nozzle for the top and shove in soil. Works kinda like those glass watering globesā¦
could possibly do it by punching a few holes in the lid of the soda bottle, but i havent tried it like that, and it may change the design principle from the watering globe styleā¦

@Breelie ā¦āvacationā??! A new creole food group? Iām here 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week. I aināt took a vacay in so many years I canāt recall the last time. I think it was for(4-5 days) only an extended weekend, about 13-15 yrs ago though, and I had a close friend come over to tend our dogs and crops. That was only because she had been working in the grow with us as āextra helpā when needed for quite a few yrs by then. The wifeās BFF, who was at our house daily, getting ripped with Rose! lol
Oh, to any I have made seed trades with or giving seeds toā¦they go in the mail today! I believe itās 2 trades and 2 gifts.
