Chat room (let's chat!) šŸ’¬ (Part 2)

Good morning and a big HELLO to everyone who has missed me. Sorry for my absenteeism but I had a very insane couple of months. Broke down, cleaned and packed up my entire operation and have moved to a new home on January 3rd. Am in the process of getting the house put together/ mostly finished off and will begin setting up my operation again tomorrow (wish me luck) more space, more convenience and all in all an even nicer home, anyway, I am back once and for all. Will be sporadic for a couple of weeks but I am back nonetheless. Hope everyone had an amazing Christmas Holidays and a very happy new year!

No I didnā€™t even know they brought back the Ranger name. Kind of a let down like fox body mustangs.

Chevy has killed me twice with their naming. They had a ZR2 series on the S10 pickups and Blazers which meant they had slightly different frames which accommodated lifting the vehicle 3" above the standard ones, 31" tires, and fender flares. Theyā€™re nice looking little trucks and I had an 02 ZR2 Blazer that I put a 3" body lift on, 2" rear shackle lift, and cranked the torsion bars to level it, topped off with some 33x12.50 mud terrains. Fucking loved that truck and was on a forum where many others loved those trucks. Then for no reason Chevy added a different ZR2 edition in the form of

WHY?!! These were not to be spoken of on the forum

Now they released a sporty looking minivan and decided to call it a Blazer for some God forsaken reason. The Blazer - the TRUCK Chevy introduced to counter the Bronco that was built on truck frames rather than a hybrid like the Broncos were, the truck that the military used for stuff. And now itā€™s a minivan.

And it will run forever. People like to talk shit on Ford until itā€™s time to buy a work truckā€¦

And my 2008 FX4 Supercrew only has 63k on her  Even have the 6.5ā€™ bed instead of that useless 5.5ā€™ bed. I wanted to be able to close the tailgate behind an ATV, hate that open tailgate bitā€¦

And F150 is a foremans truck at best, you need an F250 for workā€¦ Once you need to tow an excavator, that superduty makes the difference. Same with solid front axles vs independant.

And sadly, the 5.4 Triton is a picky bitch of a motor. Oil galleys muck up and cause issues with the variable cam timing. Pretty common :frowning: Absolutely GOTTA use the recommended 5w30 oil, 10w40 WILL screw up that motorā€¦

Oh and I will bitch about the rear bottom of the cab corners. Another ford issue is those rust every time. must be shit collecting behind the body panelā€¦

My dads F350 box truck lit on fire in the middle of the night and destroyed most of his tools. Cousins expedition ignited in the middle of the night and burned down their house.

My dad had a Triton V10 F250 that he had the springs upgraded to be more like a 450 and that truck was (is, it still runs but is a backup truck) a beast. No engine issues I can remember. The body will rot away before that engine stops at this rate, or sitting will kill it.

Well thatā€™s horrifying! My dad had an F450 rack body for years that was perfectly fine. For some reason he brought it home one night and parked it in his driveway and woke up at like 2am to the horn going off. He looked out the window and it was going off cause it was melting! The whole truck was in flames in his driveway. In his case though it was most likely aftermarket wiring cause he had beacons and extra lights sunk around the perimeter of the flat bed for plowing. I think he had my idiot BIL put in a few lights a day or two before this happened iirc.

Almost same fire story here but no mods or numb nut brother in law to blame. Scary shit and a real kick in the balls for a blue collar guy.
Not sure what about 2am gets them sparking

Thats not the 5.4 Triton found in F150s. Only a V8 for the 5.4ā€¦

At the koi shop we had most springs swapped  Had Dodge trucks there, but 2500 / 3500 with the springs from a 5500 / 7500 in em  Since we moved a LOT of rock, it helped to not get pulled over for looking overloaded though we likely were many times, just the sag wasnt thereā€¦ NY state is 20x more active in ticketing commericial than NJ is, thats for sure!

Itā€™s the only Triton Iā€™ve ever experienced so I didnā€™t know

City areas, outside the city, or both? I thankfully have no experience driving a truck under load around NY. It makes me shutter to think I was really close to towing a 24ā€™ trailer with my truck on around the city. I would still be there!

Both, in the city is ridiculous with so many non commercial roads. I did a lot of work in Orange, Sullivan, Westchester counties and even on I87 or I84, commercial checkpoints are a daily thing at times. Westchester sucks with the non commercial roads too, and even getting to the bear mountain bridge commercial had to take a 45 minute detour north past West Point, to come back south down on 9W, vs take a 5 min drive east down the bear mountain parkway.

So, commercial roads, random stops, commercial checkpoints, OH, and dont forget, EVERY NY state trooper is a DOT agent and has scales in his car as wellā€¦

Lots of the commercial guys up here have a few group chats to give a heads up on where checkpoints are.

Damn I had no idea. Around here local cops arenā€™t pulling you over for anything commercial related unless you have material flying out down the road. Catch the right trooper and theyā€™ll throw a random quick inspection on you if theyā€™re bored but most arenā€™t wasting their time. I actually have had a sense that local cops give work vehicles a little more leeway for some things. I definitely get that impression while plowing.

Lol that would not happen in NYS. LOL. We had to tarp if anything was in the back. Mind you, most of the time it was a few yards of gravel, or several 2ā€™-4ā€™ boulders. Like a tarps gonna do shit with a 1200lb boulder. But we still had to tarp it.

I did almost get railed by a landscaper on 287 in Montville, he lost a green barrel out of his bed, untarped. Instant lane change for me, and it woulda gone thru my windshield. Appreciated the tarp requirement then. Of course, I caught up with him, called the number on the side of his truck, let him know he lost his green barrel and flipped him off as I drove awayā€¦ Guy was giving ME shit about calling him out on tarping his back, meanwhile shits flying all overā€¦

Its times like those I want James Bondā€™s Aston Martinā€¦ But I could just as well take a Mad Max creationā€¦

Thank you @LionsNaughtyBeans :pray:t2: Truly. And glad to meet you my friend

I donā€™t understand your hybrid comment. They both had steel frames, they both were same thing really.

For those picking on the F150ā€™s you would be surprised what a 96 can handleā€¦

It sure are brother :relaxed:

I was thinking about last year when I started growing again and all I had was a shitty light and a too small tent. Now I have enough grow stuff to fill a pickup truck bed. Lights I donā€™t even use or need anymore. I got veg areas set up everywhere. My wife thinks Iā€™m going crazy but she loved the cucumber I gave her :joy:
