Man, this Lavender Frosting I got from @NugLifeFarms420 is kicking BigMikeās ASS!
Its a good thing Iām driving. I donāt think I could walk right now! hehehe
This has worked for me:
A solid recommendation if you bottom water (or) jam a funnel into the soil and fill that with perlite (you water through this) so the DE doesnāt cake up.
It also makes your plants looks like coke-heads.
Dude, stop wateringā¦ until your plants start wilting.
All you need to do is nothing.
And it solves itself.
Remember, these plants grow in deserts!
And youāre growing in a big living soil bed, youāre probably good for over a month without watering. Maybe two months. Stop underestimating your setup.
Pretty funny. Thanks I got to check my seeds list, I know I got some Lavender Frosting in the last little while, it sure sounds like one to add to the next grow list. Hope you can walk when you get where yr going. I had to put on the micro spikes today and salt the walkway, all is a sheet of ice
Had to kill a rodent in the barn, he left traces of himself on my desk. Its a site to see but I wonāt submit you to the gruesome photo of death. Gotta love them snap traps.
Does anyone know if DE is harmful to worms? I read itās deadly to nematodes but couldnāt find a worm answer.
Maybe this is too in depth for general chat, just seemed on topic.
I love you all
Pretty sure itās safe for worms, Iāve never heard of it being harmful to them.
Found this - Iāll dig a bit more to confirm tho
https://ameliadanver.com/can-i-put-diatomaceous-earth-in-my-worm-farm/
Is Diatomaceous Earth bad for earthworms?
āBecause of their thick gooey mucus layer that helps them travel safely through gritty soil, DE does not harm earthworms either. That means you can safely use a light dusting of DE in a worm compost bin that has become infested with mites, fungus gnats, or ants.ā

Will DE kill red wigglers?
Diatomaceous earth (de) is made of tiny, fossilized diatoms (aquatic organisms) that accumulated over millennia in fresh water lakes. Diatomaceous earth will not harm warm-blooded animals (like you or your pet) or red wiggler worms. Sprinkle some at the surface of your worm bin and every time you feed your worms.
Good to go
You can put a worm on a fishing hook and they still live.
They are pretty tough.
thatās fast!!!
Just a belly rub to them then?
Iāve used DE for years in the veggie garden outside. Have a great little duster for it, makes spreading it SO much easier. Just a little bellows like thing with a nozzle. Fill the bellows with DE and squeeze. Blows out just a light dusting of DE.
Gotta reapply after rain, heavy dew or overhead watering, but its easy to do.
Iāve used DE for over 20 yrs now lol I always keep a bag around. You can even take a spoonful daily for yourself. it has beneficial minerals, the wife and I use it on the dogs for fleas, on the plants for the micro-nutrients and as an insecticide, and a spoonful in our coffee in the morning. Itās about as āall aroundā useful as anything Iāve ever seen lol
If i remember correctly, it has something like 17or so beneficial nutrients/minerals
editā¦ i just googled it, there are at least 15 essential beneficial micro-nutrients and minerals, and over 30 proven health benefits.
Really? Interestingā¦ Learn something new every day!
Been taking it in my coffee (just in one cup) daily for a long time now.
Google the info on it cuz
lol good for everyone, humans, animals, plants but deadly on mites and other soft bodied small bugs
It has very sharp/hard crystal type points in all directions from all the different microscopic fresh water critters. when the insects(mites) crawl over it cuts them open and they just dry up dead. Itās a desiccant, also good to cut pollen with
Diatomaceous earth is also an effective treatment for tapeworms and other such parasites in animals. Probably works in people too, but I have neither a tapeworm nor a bag of DE so I canāt speak from experience on this one.
I realize a tapeworm is not an earthworm but this is the reason why I hesitated to incorporate DE into my gardening practices.
But not worms. Thanks for the link @Mithridate!
Iāve used neem spray and DE before but my favorite is mosquito bits. Just sprinkle them on top and water them in. Theyāre definitely a nuisance. I see them hanging out around the bottoms of my pots. I keep a spray bottle with a little soapy water close by at all times LOL that way if I ever see one flying around down there and canāt reach it, I spray the mf One way or another, itās gonna die
For best results, sprinkle the mb/de like this:
Food grade DE is cheap as heck, you can buy it at any farm supply, Tractor Supply comes to mind, theyāre everywhere lol Folks use it for pests on cattle, etc. 10lb bag for $20, and that stuff will last a long time!
