Check Out what AC Infinity Just dropped yall

They should make a standalone a/c only unit without heating. And kick it up a notch by somehow making it ventless :ok_hand:

I told em (ac infinity) that they need to have this same unit… buy made in a way that all functions can be use at the same time… like once cooled… maybe dehuey kicks in etc… have priority parameters like cool trumps dehuey … or vice versa according to user needs… but also create in a way they do not fight each other… for a seamless all around unit that truly does it all … all the time

You’re missing the point terps, all portable AC units have dehum and heat function, heat may not be a selectable option with button, but you just reverse hoses routing.

A 12000 btu Magnavox portable AC like i bought was 300$ on sale, it dehums, ac and if i route the exhaust hoses into a tent, it’ll heat.

That’s all this is, its a basic cheap Chinese 8k btu with manifold on both exhaust and supply that 6" duct attaches too. You can actually buy tent specific AC units for camping on Ali express that do the same thing .

Ngl I am kinda sick of keeping my whole apartment kinda chilly to keep my tent optimal. They should make a smaller unit too, 8000 btus a bit much for a 2x4

The way air conditioning works is it removes the water so the air is dry (condensate) and then lowers the temperature. The more humid a room is the more that ac will work to lower the temp. As it lowers the temp, the humidity of the room is still being removed down to the target temp minus about 30 degrees (just before shut off since most ac evaps are rated for a 30 degree drop). You have to be lower than the target temp to get there quickly.

In a grow room plants are continually transpiring. This adds heat and humidity to the space we are controlling. An ac with a variable compressor can have very high energy efficiency and take advantage by ‘coasting’ much of the time. Especially when lights are off.

Heat pumps are for the most part accomplished by reversing the refrigerant flow by means of a special valves and solenoid combinations. The evaporator becomes the condenser etc.

The most efficient way would be to completely recirc and treat the air and supplement with some percentage of outside air. But that can raise the issue of smell in some situations.

Anything advertised as both a dehumidifier and an ac for a targeted group smacks of snake oil to me.

It is worth considering an air purifier as well in both a grow space and the area used to dry and cure. Removing spores, etc and UV can be an option on some.

Could you speak more on this? We have a couple window units and portable ACs, two of them have a dehumidifier mode which I adore. Im humidity bougie. I would like it warmish but dry. My husband doesn’t care if it’s 68 and wet, as long as it’s cold. That just feels clammy to me.

I’d buy the AC that touts a special dehumidifier mode.

Could you provide a model number? I am just guessing but it may be equipped with a humidstat and operate on that instead of the thermostat optionally and again may have a variable speed compressor.

Edit- to add dehumidification as an option in a general use case such as this would not be snake oil. If you are targeting a specific group and jacking the price way up well that is. Depends what they are asking versus say

None of them will keep things at the wattage and the degree of accuracy that the terraform will… who wants 8 degree sways temps and 8 point sways humidity ?? That is not doable man!!

We need things to stay in the maybe 2 digits away from setpoints… not 10…

I understand, I know enough about HVAC to know I need it explained to me! Thank you!

Sounds like you’re convinced that this is the coolest thing from sliced bread with that I will say give it a shot but you’re going to be disappointed.

You want to treat the long room not the individual tent with air conditioning.

But even if you do want to treat the tent with air conditioning, something about that unit just like Herbie says snake oil

I’m not really one for gadgets anyway but this one doesn’t appeal to me.
