Chez Calix - Journey of a Junior grower

Ive thought a couple of times now - is it actually necessary to keep those moduled/packs on the lights cool with a fan ? Or just good for longevity of light maybe ? Good.practice ? It does help the air flow regardless.
Just feels a bit excess having a dedicated fans for each light… Perhaps that’s where I can rearrange and just replace with one single light .

lower temperature leads to increased conductivity in copper. Don’t know if it will generate more efficiencies, though, because there are no readings to go by of it being cooled vs not.

Well!! My plants are just about 7 weeks In

The sourjacks breeder information has 9-12 weeks for harvest window .

However, my plant leafs seem to be discolouring /dying, as if they are depleting the leafs of nutrients - as you would see after a flush.

This could be due to my heavy defoliation. However I just Did a full feed before this last water
I am going To have a look with my loupe…

I am going to do another nute feed on the sour Jacks and I think I’ll commence / continue water feed for a flush on the birthday cake.

I also notice some crowning on a few tops, foxtails?

I remember being mentioned it’s to much nitrogen?

I am going to mix up my last / second last nutrient feed.

It’s raining at the moment so don’t feel like venturing out for a picture . I will ASAP though.

It’s really looking like the sour Jacks are close to ready. However I would like the buds to dense up a bit :’)

Some plants will grow fingers as a natural thing they do, but if the finger thing is new, then it’s probably not a good thing.

Thanks for your input
I snagged a few photos it’s hard to tell. Looks like some thick stringy yellow growth … I had it last grow also on a few tops. Not the best photo but that I what it is . I don’t want to chop early but if it’s going to affect the girl negatively I may have to but I’m willing to let it run .
On one it’s right at the tip of cola. Others are
throughout.tops body
Do you suggest not a good thing as possibly herm?
I’m hoping it’s too much nitrogen

well, a bad thing as in too much heat or some side light exposure in bloom or something. It’s strange things like that, they will get the bud all fluffy by growing extra branches inside the bud. I’ll get a photo, just a sec.

The second one is growing a finger out the top of the bud. The ones that got directly exposed to side light from the LED look worse.

I did lower my lights about 2 weeks ago…
I am now thinking it could be heat stress .
I will fall back 4-6".

POssibly on my second last batch of nutrients for this harvest.
Just mixed up week 7 flower mix
Might just continue the birthday cake onnthe water schedule as I approach week 7 tomorrow, day 49…

When Looks plenty healthy, I just need to check trichs throughout this week or two .

Sourjacks getting one more feed tomorrow and ill go from there with visual cues. On a ten week flower schedule , they can get technically two more feeds between week 7 and week 8 then flush week 9 and 10

FYI that’s not enough to kill Hops Latent Viroid. I suggest a 10% bleach solution with a minimum of 60 seconds of contact time.

Thanks. I read that recently oN OG of. the alcohol wasn’t enough so I mixed in the peroxide…lol…il have to pick some bleach up

Flower tent. Day 49
Things are looking sexy!

Hopefully this feed helps these plants on there final journey!

Goin to be doing a bud wash after choppy choppy .

Weeks out anyway !

Need to get my Inspector gadget loupe out!

Anyone interested in commenting wether bud density increases over final weeks before harvest ?

Or is that something that’s attributed to genetics or even many variables / grow style / technique - lights - medium - ect.

And would the drying process also have an impact on the density ?

My flowers all seem pretty AIRY . As in not much density.

It’s interesting because the same plant that is under my PAN light seems to have more dense colas .

It may all be in my head lol.

My first grOw - under the pan light - produced some monster colas that showed they’re density within the first 3-4 weeks of flower!! And those genetics (9lb hammer) has that reputation.

All a major learning curve for me.
I can’t even think I’m on the curve at all yet !feels like I’m just swinging blindly at a pinata

I hope to get things dialed in for my next flower .

I really jumped in on this one the summer…I harvested in June and got some clones at the end of.june - then popped some seeds end of July…

All while working full time & trying to live a somewhat normal life.
Normal being - work and then spend my evenings on O.G. LOL…absorbing zero information

I’ve got a good head on this time around.

Can’t wait to chop these girls and focus on my next batch.

I don’t feel like doing. The whole perpetual thing right now - it’s going to be too much at the end of my work season. I’ll be harvesting - trimming ,drying bday cake., flushing sourjacks - cloning my vegs and flipping .

I’d like.to just have two In flower and 2 mother’s not necessarily ready to flip . I think I could handle that lol

You know, many options when jars are full and you have personal medicine taken care of for a while…

Just peaked into tent

Things looking pretty well done! Almost into week 8 flower.

Birthday cake is flopping over. And the sourjacks leafs are discolouring. But all the tops have ripened up. I think I am pretty much waiting on the trichomes to mature at this point .

Took bday cake out of the tent…

Suffering a PM issue…had it under control but it looks like the birthday cake took the brunt of it.
:frowning:

I chopped down some affected sour jack limbs and am washing them

I have been using a spray throughout . A 3-1 sulfur spray.

Doing a heavy peroxide bath then some lemon juice bath just incase… no baking soda.
Hopefully kill some PM and get rid of the 3-1 spray remnants…

Unfortunate…

I was never set on this run as I didn’t choose the genetics…

The end result has been phenomenal aside from PM going from manageable to not managable.

I think I can chop now and mitigate alot of the spread

At 57 days … It’s early…however I did a look with the microscope and There are some amber with white trichomes…I would say 10% amber 90% white/cloudy…

I would grow sour jack again …under the right circumstances

I am going to have to clean out the tent after this…and all the lights and fans…and upgrade my ventilation…I was doing very well I thought.

I will continue to grow the sour jack for.another week and see if I can stop the PM from progressing…
