Chez Calix - Journey of a Junior grower

LOL
I know man I know.
I see people grow in such small containers lol

So no rush to up pot. I’m always worried about root boundLOL

LOVE those trees.

I will let them develop some more .

Yes, they can drown… Roots need water & Air.
When your soil dries out, and you water again, the new water suckes are into the soil.

Okay thanks man!

appreciate the help!

SO I guess I should take the 2nd cups off the 1st cups to let them roots breathe better?

I don’t want them sitting in the condensated 2nd cup ,right? Just let em air out onnthe black tray??

Ehhh it’s too late for me to do that right now anyway. They’ll be fine lol

Good idea for tomorrow.
After they have dried enough, water just a little.
Like to the 1st ring on bottom of solo cup.

Wet/Dry cycles = BIG growth
Can use a fan blowing across the plants to help dry it out some. Although your photos don’t look soaked or super muddy so thats good

Yes! I will get a clip fan going. My flower tent is SHUT DOWN …a bit disappointing lol. There should be plants in there…but god wouldn’t give me more than I could handle lol…so I will take a clip fan from there
( let’s get these wet/dry cycles going! going to love this correlation lol

I had another question…i forgot…

Oh yes

Should I do away with the heating pad now??
I’ve got it on a cycle of ON10 minutes every 45minutes

The floor is laminate . . .still in the basement however. Might put the pallet underneath

I’d say keep the heat mat on for now and I feed clones almost the same ppm as what the mother plant is getting but that’s just me.

Thanks

So brudder…what should my PPM be at lol??

Say I mix up a reservoir of 10 litres of water and put in my REMOnutrients for the reservoir size…

Like what should my ppm be? Once I determine a ppm I want… and it reads high…Do I just add water to lower it??

Is what you are saying is you don’t use a lot of nutrients for clones or mothers? Or just keep the PPM the same?

Parts per million of what ? I need to watch a few YouTube video :frowning:

Around 600 ppm but my well water is around 300 ppm . It depends on how the clones look if they need some food I also give them straight tap water periodically also .
I’ve been known to torture clones in beer cups but most survive .

I’ve got it figured out i think

My friend suggested It should start at 100ppm and go up 100 per week ! And max 7-800 for veg and 10-13 for flower,

careful with the ones with the deformed leaf(s), it might be a sign you are getting close to over fertilization. Especially on the really small seedling with the crazy-ass leaves.
If you have some of the old planting medium you used on those last seedlings that almost died, mix that with a bit of distilled water until it’s a slurry you can test with the blue labs and see what number it gives. Curious to see what condition of the soil wiped them out.

Thanks Joe.

Thanks for the visual identification warning / tip on the leafs.

They are looking a bit freaky haha and some stunted…but growing.

Im off work tomorrow so I will be doing some experiments lol

And yes I’ll test my Bx promix I had stored in the garage - great idea.

And I can test the soil from the plant that I kept - that would have the same soil. . .I won’t mind flushing water through it to get a reading.

Thanks guys

The nutrients I had in reservoir wee reading 7-800

I cut it in half twice my pouring half into cup. Adding. Half water. It dropped to 3-400

Did that again. And reading 200

I’m gonna play it safe and cut it again . But use the 200 on some other ones and take notes

Haven’t tested my soil yet @JoeCrowe

Yah, when my seedlings are just little squirts I have them at EC .5 or 350ppm. It’s on the low, but safe, side.

So I flushed the plant and got a reading of 500ppm

I did feed it some 200ppm nute earlier and I did feed it a unknown ppm a few days before also.i feel it not the best for answers.

I still have to head out to the garage an grab some raw soil.

Also.
I realised I have some prepped soil in cups that didn’t get used because I was drying it out + the seeds never germed. Gonna test it now . This stuff I mixed in some allpurpose fertilizer .

Also giving some water to the bigger seedlings that didnt have droopy leaves (yet)

The soil had about .25ec that was my mix with all purpose .

The first batch was just straight cold bxpromix n perlite so most likely .0 lol

It’s about to get Crowded in here!

Well… Hopefully !!! Lol

I transplanted 3 of my best contenders.

And also some how managed to adopt 4 clones lol woops…

Some dragon’s breath and and GDP grand daddy purp???

Well if all my seeds fail . These clones may have Produce some results… females at least lol

I’m just gonna stay out of the tent for a few days. Always helps lol

I’ve got my good old friend of almost 20 years on board to sign up @ overgrow!

He has been growing for some time now with many many successful runs + developed some amazing skills growing trees .

I have given him some of my autos I won in the Halloween :jack_o_lantern: prize. ( Reiko $ Mr.sparkle thank you )
autos CinderEvil and ghost rose & my last two L.A confidential fem seeds in hopes for some clones when he grows then

Not sure the username he has chosen however he should be introducing himself soon

So

I recently up potted the best looking seedlings…they havent grown much since. But still alive.

I should have up potted to bigger pots.

I am planning on putting the bestlookking one into a 5 Gal fabric pot of living soil (@CADMAN )

I’ve got four clones in red cups I’ll be keeping.

However im wondernling.
Alll the other plants arethe same age… Should.i cull the ones that are not performing ???
I may keel one or two. But its quite odd that they are a different stages of development with all. The same soil and treatment .

Even the good looking seedlings should be abit further. But I imagine the recent transplant has slowed them down a few days
Edit - also - I have been 24/0 them…I’m wondering if they could benefit from some 20/4 …I know the light wouldn’t mind . . Root Growth seems fine. I would just need to supplement heat
…really getting frustrated with this seedling…I guess I got lucky my first time with two single beans germ to harvest…Only thing different is I used my friends pre mixxed soil. Worn castings rock dust . As soon as this soil dries I’m transplanting the best looking one into living soil and the other three are gonna get a blast of nutes
