Chimera Seeds

I would love to know more about Soulshine x Blockhead. Anyone grown these? I have a pack stored but I had grown Grapefruit x Soulshine and it was a bit lame.
I also grew Grapefruit x Blueberry and it also didn’t fulfil my hopes because I couldn’t extract neither Blueberry nor Grapefruit phemos from these two packs from Chimera. GFxSS was just hazy stuff with heavy melissa terpenes. GFxBB were between fruity and cough medicine.

:man_shrugging: Sorry, hadn’t grown those out.

No movement on the x SS :pensive:

Can’t wait to see what comes out of these deep chunks!

I’m completely terrified of not giving them enough care or screwing them up somehow. One pack is ridiculously old/un-cared for. The other is questionable. I tried to pop a pack of DC x THH a couple years ago and I didn’t get anywhere.

The additives in question are some aminos, kelp, superthrive (more kelp/aminos). I don’t trust myself to do any cracking or scuffing.

Have you tried germinating with hydrogen peroxide? Soaking for 18 to 24 hours in a 1% hydrogen peroxide solution worked really well for me. Lately, it’s the only technique I use. I started using it after reading a study about it.

I can dig it. I have used some peroxide in the past but the amounts were negligible/un-measured. I’m going to give this a shot when I have the chance. Thanks for the tip!

I’ve been growing for over 4 decades but my first seed bank purchase was Mountain Jam in about 2008. Been going through f2s on and off ever since. They are always good, sometimes outstanding.
Here’s the latest one.

Very cool, Chili. I think you’re sitting on something really cool and really rare. I remember a lot of folks wanting to try that Mountain Jam for a long time. What do you like about it?

I went out of town for the weekend and left the seeds in the towels a little long. All popped but I lost one that got mushy and fell apart when I tried to plant it. I got one Hawaiian Spice to crack, waiting to see if it actually gets a root.

This Incense Haze x Jack is a little monster, it grows super fast. I’ll have to trim and tie it down before sending it to the flower room. If it grows like this in veg, I can’t imagine how it’ll be in flower. I think it’s gonna take over the whole tent, haha. I’ve already taken clones, and next time I’ll try to control it better.

Looking forward to the Cheese and Lullablox. I read that the Lullablox has a serious candy/cough syrup profile (which tracks based on the other BH I’ve done.) And that the Cheese is REALLY cheesy. Your garden is going to stink, mister.

The Incense Jack is really cool. I did that a few years ago in a couple small pots. Most of the Jack’s suffer from premature flowering/refusing to stay in a veg state and the Incense Jack is no exception. They just don’t tolerate small pots for longer than necessary. Take clones and then take clones again. It was the only way to keep them vegging. Long term moms are a little out of the question. The moment those roots hit the bottom of the pot, you should clone again if you really want to keep it around. Of the more interesting smells I got, I found a brilliant red candy smell in one my Incense Jack’s. One of my absolute favorites that got lost in a shuffle. She supports her branches fairly well but overall does become top-heavy. I’d consider lashing that pot to the ground or something.

Something is stirring in our Hawaiian Spice cup :star_struck:

I’m so excited. I’ve been trying to get these going for years. I gotta get some STS stat! Can’t lose this opportunity to make some seeds.

I got some Jack Floss sitting on ice. Might have to pop them one day I suppose.

You should! I bet you could get something dope out of those. I ran them a couple years ago but, same issue as I described in some of my posts- there was a fire and a shuffle. I never got to finish those plants but I did pull a couple seeds back. They might have been hit by some Congo x BH, they might have been hit by some Highland Mexican x BB. I have no idea. Edit: Know what? Fuck it. I’m going to pull a couple of those out of the fridge. I want to see what’s in those.

I’ve still got a bunch of Chimera gear… His forum at IC closed due to non-payment, not some attempt to wipe history. That’s the straw that broke the camel’s back and pushed me from IC also as it had a couple decades worth of history…

A lot of conspiracy in this thread, but at the end of the day, Chimera is one of the OG breeders, running numbers and spreading knowledge back when it wasn’t readily available. He has an ego, as he should.

Sitting in my vault, excluding polyhybrids…

That’s a solid list, my friend. Good to see you around.

I’ve flowered the Cheese once before, but it was far from ideal. Due to limitations, it got little light and the flowering was pretty weak, but I still got a strong aroma from it. This time in the tent, it’s gonna do much better! I’m really interested in the Blockhead too; both are pretty similar. Even in veg, they already have a scent and will probably stink up the place, which I’m looking forward to!

I’ve read about this trait with Jack crosses. Do you think fabric pots would help with that? I read that GF x BB also suffer from these issues. I actually have two GF x BB females in the tent, and I’ll post some pics soon.

This Haze is a real monster; it grows super fast. I’m worried about how much it’s going to stretch in flowering! Hahaha

Got a lot of interesting stuff on your list, especially that Warlock x Blockhead. I read it has an amazing aroma!

Unfortunately, Breeders Retail went on hiatus again. I hope they come back someday; I still want to get a lot of genetics from Chimera.

I did not have that experience with the Gf x BB. And I had let them get pretty big in a small cup sorta recently. I’m not sure if a fabric pot would help, or not. The problem (I think) is not that there isn’t oxygen, the problem is the pressure those roots end up exerting on whatever surface they come in contact with. I’m not certain the fabric would forestall that contact to the extent that you would need it to. In a veg state, you have auxins pushing down (from the meristem) and some smaller amount of cytokinin pushing back up (from the roots). It seems like once those roots hit bottom, the Jack’s don’t tolerate having to keep the cytokinin in check, so they just start sending it all back up and then boom, flowering presentation…the auxins can’t keep down the cytokinin anymore.

I’m here to agree with @weedcvlt and that is all.
