Were these stored with desiccants? It would confirm my suspicions about silica drying seeds out too muchā€¦

Na manā€¦ i have seeds in a box with silica packsā€¦ germinate them just fine @Kabuddha

You may have a point, in factā€¦ right after 9/11 didnā€™t all the post offices start a program of irradiation of all mail to kill possible (insert popular metal band name that starts with A) spores?

Did they ever stop that program? Seems like ancient history now, holy crap Iā€™m old.

I donā€™t like leaving seeds soaking for more than 24 hoursā€¦after that i get nervous, I may let some go to 36ā€¦but after 24 hours I plant them wether or not they have tails.
For me, viability seems to decrease if I let them soak for more than 24 hoursā€¦having that problem with some White Widow now, successfully navigated the helmet head , but I think I left them in the drink too longā€¦weā€™ll see.

I donā€™t soak seeds due to positive water pressure abilities inside husks before openingā€¦ crushes itself to deathā€¦ if a hard to open husk is presentā€¦

Iā€™ve honestly never done it any other way and have very good germ rates. I noticed that with a 24 hour soak germ rates improve enough, over no soak, to make it worth the time.

sometimes i let seeds go for 48ish hours and i have had great results! most if not all pop, same with them sprouting

also i only leave them in water, they never go in paper towels. just water and a splash of h2o2.

Yes, I donā€™t use paper towels. I often wonder what sort of chems are in themā€¦maybe organic paper towels would work .

maybe organic hemp paper towels? if those even exist. ediit: they do exist, found some on etsy

I also do H2O+ H2O2, soak, leaving them till they pop, plant as soon as I see confirmed tail, the shorter the tail the better. I have had seeds pop on day 6 but nothing past that. Usually donā€™t have any duds, but when I do I toss them after 7-10 days, or whenever the shot glass dries up. I donā€™t use paper towels.

Sorry your having such rotten luck on this BMR repo @DougDawson. But you gave it a vigorous effort, and maybe it is just not the right moment for this strains day In the sun. Some good things take time, and I know you will eventually circle back and succeed.

If at first you donā€™t succeed, get stoned and say F#%k it!

I Always use paper towels
tap wather + 2-3 drop h2o2, Until seeds will go down (~12hours ).
then in moist paper towel , put in the ziplock and that is. If in 1-2 days some of them will not open, I crack them manually.
~99% germination rate , until SSDD f2s lol. Iā€™ve got -20% last year with these

always trying find organic papers , but couple times used cheap ones and itā€™s also worked
