"Cookies" hate. Don't get it

Man, I’ve had some good wedding cake put me on my butt. I have 0 complaints.

I’m getting that it might add to some crosses, might take from some crosses, and alone isn’t anything to talk about. Some of the stuff I’ve recently grown has at least one version of cookies deep in the lineage, and I haven’t experienced anything negative just yet; however, I have tried a few cookies strains recently, and the high was definitely short lived. Strong and flavorful, but I found myself wanting more shortly after.

you know I guess I’m gonna have to take a trip out to Cali I think that’s about the only place you can buy cookies right by me some and find out for myself . I would like to see the whole spectacle because I worked retail all my life and I get what he’s doing.

What will kill it for me is I don’t believe you get to even see this shit I think you have to buy it in sealed containers you don’t get to touch it or smell it.

The first trip I took to Colorado was when they just opened and you could grab the buds you could break them open you could smell them you could squeeze them I enjoyed the hell out of that. how much I’ll enjoy buying an expensive sealed polymer bag I don’t know but I think I have to find out.

or I suppose I could dig around on Facebook and actually buy some of it but then you never really know if it’s real or not

or make a friend in Calley who could do it for me. :sunglasses::boom::sunglasses:

I understand the joy of seeing, smelling the weed your buying. It is a bit like a buffet, I want to be there early in the day :joy:

yeah. this.

i have some GS Cookies seeds from Humboldt Seed Co i’ve been sitting on because of what i have read in the forums in regards to cookies. (anyone have any experience with these? any good?)

there seems to be a LOT of drama surrounding many popular strains from the 70s to present day. there are so many (controversial) origin stories to so many popular strains floating around you’d think it was the batman franchise.

it’s kinda sad to see cannabis and drama holding hands skipping down the lane. but i suppose that’s what happens when money, corporations and the government get involved. insert the opportunistic carpetbagger types to come steal granny’s house out from under her.

another reason why this site and this community f*cking ROCK. would be nice if the mentality spread…

Smoking in California feels like nothing else. I don’t know why.

here’s my take…

berner and cookies as a company are slimy as hell. will do anything to move product–including renaming cuts just so they have a new hype cut to sell all over again.

i’d say about 80% of the ‘cookies’ type bud i’ve picked up over the years was total boof probably grown by some half-ass facility somewhere.

but some of this newer stuff has knocked my socks off when it’s grown and dried right :woman_shrugging:

Its hard to say. I believe the main instigator of much cookie hate was that, due to cookies hype, quite a few people shelled out $500.00 for a single pack of seeds which ended up producing a large number of herms and plants with cardboard terps… that soured the community towards the Cookies brand and stained the Cookies name. There are – of course – standout phenos which have persisted in circulation due to their commercial viability, but those add up to a mere handful out of 15+ years and tens of thousands of seeds hunted.

I ran a copycat GSP from seeds for the first few years I grew and it was okay. Then I ran a single seed of Cannarado’s Cookie Crisp F-something, which leaned towards whichever legit pheno he used, and that plant looked magical. Something about the color and super frostiness that made it look like he was glowing from within. I’ve never seen such a pretty plant.

I tried to run it a couple more times, but they were super finicky and struggled through the grow. I have one more pack because I kept getting them as freebies, but I don’t want to pop them until I get my current setup dialed in really well.

Berner is a dork. I do’t hate him though. He apparently paid his dues in the culture before he blew up, so whatever.

Point has never been if berner is a bad mon or not it’s do you really feel that way or is that keyboard doing the work?

The proof is right there tho, keep typing it out and sooner or later they’re gonna end up like that dork taking risks they can’t cover.

Favorite Cannarado strain is his Cookie Dough Sundae.
This year I ran
Alien Cookies
MAC V2
Cookie Dough Sundae
Space Cake
Cookies n Creme
All were excellent, didn’t have any complaints.

Just go tell him you don’t like him, he probably owns some store near where you live at. Otherwise just blah blah blah throwing rocks at someone sitting in a gold throne. Nobody cares nor respects that shit.

Cookies is a clothing brand, Berner makes his money from clothes.
Berner is not a grower, I don’t think he even has the forum cut anymore.

I see plenty people online idolizing phony dudes who are all hype and jack copyrights all day. They just don’t know it yet. Sad cuz most are probably twice my age almost :joy:

I don’t think the complaints are necessarily coming from a jealous “hater” perspective. Success is measured differently from person to person.

I just don’t like how GSC has watered down the gene pool for the sake of sales. It’s getting harder to find weed that doesn’t have a dessert name in my area.

It’s a waste of time bud

Anything new and popular is probably shit. This applies to more things than just cookies.

I thought you were against canna capitalism (like Berner) as you stated in the recent seed purchases thread.

So do you love Cookies and all the related watering down of genetics with cardboard terps, rather short length of effects, but have that bag appeal for the kids who started growing after the new recreational laws allowed it?

Or did Berner (Gilbert Anthony Milam Jr.) do so well in canna capitalism that it’s absolute success?

Or are you saying that OG’ers seeds they made are better to grow than buying into canna capitalism by many breeders?

I do agree with that statement, but it seems a bit contradictory from your other post.
