Coronavirus Facts and Fiction - January - May 2020 [Closed]

Most scientists would agree with peer review and submitting to WHO before publishing. I probably have family working on a vaccine right now in Saskatchewan.

Killings? Far far from that. Far far from localized concern in the US, either. But this is a fast moving and developing situation. In a SHTF situation where infrastructure breaks down, then we’d have to consider those types of issues. E.g. lack of food, water, heat, and power.

100% my viewpoint, here. Mass panic is encouraged through the embargoing of information using silly rationale such as racism, diversity, and economics. Conspiracies and fear build along with the lack of credible information while at the same time your neighbor crashes out for unknown reasons. If there is ever a sudden realization by the populace or if there is a sudden information dump that things have gotten “out of control”, then we could expect panic.

Information flow (credible) allows folk to make rational choices prior to a situation getting to that point. Preparation reduces panic.

As such, I will say that our family pays attention to daily developments. In fact, we just happened to have discussed this over dinner last night. Same as with past emerging threats, we’ll make an assessment following-up with rational choices. E.g. such as not flying to China for vacation, verifying our PPE is up to date, not eating bat soup, etc. Conversely, still going to work, eating out, hanging out with friends and the normal day to day things.

Yes, influenza and coronavirus are two different viruses. I’m just saying statistically you have a better chance of dying from the flu or even malaria. If you’ve ever been to Asia you’d understand why they have to quarantine and why this would probably come from a meat market. People are in much closer proximity and animals everywhere; people can have chickens and animals anywhere in their homes.

I’m referring to the people taking this opportunity to spread hate and rumors about the Chinese racist and are willing to profit at the expense of someone’s sickness and fear. If that is through direct exploitation by over pricing, or by publishing misleading articles to get clicks and views == $$$ when you’re a media publisher.

US bans flights from China. While Trudeau bans plastic straws… just saying.

The Chinese population in Auckland is around 30%… in Auckland city you see more asian people than pakeha…

Flights are not banned, there is no screening at all at the border currently, only VOLUNTARY screening… We are absolutely fucked once this hits our shores, with a 2 week incubation period it is only a matter of time now…

The 1000 possible cases in India is scary

  1. 1000 outside of China is a big number compared to a couple here and there in other countries

  2. India is like China overcrowded and dirty

I would almost think it would spread faster through India not trying to come off racist this is a legitimate question. how depleted is there country of doctors? Seems half of the doctors in my area are Indian

I agree, could be problematic if it gets out of control there too.

Interesting read about the onions! The only thing that pertains to this that I had heard from a friend in the past was that you shouldn’t leave any leftover onion uncovered in your fridge for any period of time as it will attract all the nasties that may be in the fridge and harbor them as well.

I was in Bangkok, Hanoi and then the Seoul Airport before coming home on the 21st of Jan. When I got home almost everyone in the town seemed to have just recently or currently been dealing with the flu that was going around and super sick, achy and in general feeling like crap. The next day my housemate got the flu and was off work for 3 days resting in bed most of the days. I had just defeated a cold in my last week travelling and somehow avoided getting the flu even though I was in the same house for hours at a time as the person afflicted…

And now… I am feeling a little crud… feels more like a cold right now… Figures I would still be within the 2 week possible incubation period for the new corona virus and just yesterday I started feeling a tickle in my throat and coughing up some nasty crap this morning, although I am feeling pretty good in general. I am not really concerned, and don’t think I have it, but I would sure hate to actually have acquired the virus in an airport or flight and be spreading it to people who it may affect harshly.

Those seeking a herbal defensive strategy should investigate a couple of known herbs, lomatium dissectum and scutellaria baikalensis, aka Fernleaf Biscuitroot and Chinese Skullcap, respectively.
Both of these plants roots contain strong antiviral properties that, in the case of lomatium, historically has saved a people from the ravages of the Spanish Flu.

Lomatium has shown to have a reaction in the form of contact dermatitis in 1% of users - strong enough to seek medical attention.

Chinese Skullcap or scute is often made into a decoction to treat feverish chest colds.
It also works along with many other herbs and medicines boosting their effect, the word for that escapes me atm.

ANY therapy can induce an allergic reaction so be careful should one consider this approach.
Please research these herbs for yourself and never consider some words from an anonymous internet spaceman more than your own good sense.
