Coronavirus Facts and Fiction - January - May 2020 [Closed]

Ditto in MA, take-out only as of tonight I think.

I believe there is something at the national level in the works to help alleviate this. Unfortunately, I don’t have the details currently. States may also be taking some action here as well.

Man that sucks vernal, get on UE asap.
Every time I got laid off through out the '80’s and '90’s I sat down with a pen and paper and put all my finances, weekly/monthly outflow and started identifying places I could cut, against savings, UE and temp jobs like shovelling neighbors snow.
Some of the old ladies would sneak watch me, I think they dug watching a guy bust his ass for them.

I probably should, I just feel like a parasite. The owner I work for is a great dude, I’d hate to put him out or ask for a handout. He does pretty good, but if the place is closed he’s actively losing money, not like he wears a monocle and tophat, either. If I worked for a big company it’d be one thing but he’s a local family man, not a suit wearing executive.

Canada’s chief medical officer report

Don’t know how UE is set up in your state but small biz paid into a fund in my day.
Though I do think the state raised their contributions during the layoff.
Still, respect for caring.

Prepare for national lockdown.
When this happens, the shit has hit the fan.

Any lockdown should be purely voluntary. Anything otherwise is trampling upon the Constitution.

The opportunity this represents to the authoritarians won’t be avoided, though. All sorts of laws will be passed allowing curfews, martial law, suspension of habeas corpus, freedom of assembly, etc. Fear will absolutely be exploited.

This is the foundation of the house they’re going to build.

From the link I posted

Maybe this experience will help tighten the bond between Americans instead of widening the gap that tyranny likes to see.

I think Canada will fair pretty well if there is a lockdown. Most of us are damned good at sitting around marathoning Netflix if given the chance. In the meantime, where I live, getting out to places devoid of humanity for some fresh air and exercise isn’t difficult, so I consider myself lucky.

Does anyone know how much prior notice the country’s that are in full lock down were given before being quarantined?

Is this a 24,48,72 hour notice or everyone go home now kind of thing

Yeah I’m betting on the same. I expect a lockdown soon in Alberta. The sooner the better. Supposed to head up north to start a 14 day set tom. Even if I wasnt sick as hell i still wouldnt go.

They said on cp24 that its just a fake runor but we’ll see.

There was warnings yestrrday of lots of fake news from foreign countries in the next few days. So this will be a good determining factor
