Ya agreed, the singeing of the edges of the heavier-duty weed cloth / landscape fabric is great to prevent fraying. Good tip!
The 10 gals have about a 3 gallon reservoir.
Oh wow so 3 gal of water , 7 of soil. That’s a kind of perfect ratio to the earthbox, while being far more conveniently more compact! I might have to attempt to make them although I’m not super handy with this type of stuff .
Check out @Maddawg 's 7.5 gallon tutorial at the top. It’s a great resource and will walk you through step by step.
Yep I saw that. Need to watch it several times over and will attemp. I think the 10 gallon makes tons of sense for my needs! Thanks bud.
Good morning, OG’ers,
I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the start to this beautiful Sunday morning. Today we find ourselves at day 8F and everything is progressing as planned. Things may be a tad large, but I think I’ll manage.
I turned up the QB96’s to 350w. Gave everyone a good IPM spraying with a sample of Dr. zymes I had. Switching up between that and Nube’s diy organic spray for the duration. Will do one more next week, then start the offerings to Jobu that I make it pest free into 2023.
I still need to get in there and clean up the lowers and start staking. That was supposed to happen last night when these pictures were taken, but I fell asleep reading a book to my son and woke up late. I did take some pictures though.
I’m loving these 10gals!! I can pick them up to move around and get at the plant to inspect. Think these might be my favorite SIP yet!!
Enough jibber-jabber! On with the show!

Ooh looking great! Best of luck on being bug free!
I think the stardawg guava x ssdd is an ssdd leaner
Thank you homie! I’ve been very diligent with the IPM this go round, so we shall see.
I’m totally cool with that!! Love some SSDD!!
Thanks @ChiefRunningbud
@BeagleZ did you see this post.
Just now… sounds interesting
Does anyone grow autos in SIPs here? Do you start the seeds in them or do you transplant? I’ve never really had good luck with autos…think I’ve stunted everyone I’ve grown from the start.
@bassman5420 don’t you grow autos in SIPs? If so, any tips?
I like the way you lay out your photos. Front and top of each.
I haven’t grown autos in sips but i have direct sowed them into larger pots before, try to have a lighter/older/seedling mix in the small area in the middle of the pot so the seedling doesn’t get torched by a hot soil when it sprouts. Water just the area around the seed and not the entire container until it starts to fill out, I feel like the only adjustment you’d want to consider for the SIPs is just not filling the res until it’s big enough to have roots in there to drink it
Cut the end off of this funnel enough for it to fit snug in my EB tube. Every other funnel I’ve found is too skinny. This just cut my watering time in half. I’m excited!! Now just need to find a better jug to pour with and I’ll be set
Looking good man!
I’ve been thinking about this for a while now while I wait for the holidays to wrap up and start a run in the EBs. I was thinking about a OVC elbow/funnel situation, ultimately I’d like to be able to pour directly from a 5gal bucket, was looking at those bucket spouts that they sell as well, let me know how you like that thing
Yup, I have a 45 degree pvc elbow coming off mine and it extends up a foot or so and makes it a breeze to water.
Here’s my 3/4 in PVC contraption. A larger funnel would make my life a bit easier.
thats exactly what i was picturing in my head dude, how stable is that when you start really dumping water into it? any concern of it buckling at the joint or anything like that?
