I took cuts of the first , tried to amend on the second upon transplanting which seemed to do ok. Best is to amend a week or two prior to planting the plant in. Or just get BAS 3.0 which I know and am familiar with lol .
I regret that I have only one like to give to this comment.
I missed out yesterday as Earthbox was doing free shipping on all orders, crap I want to try SIPs so badly, I’ll probably still grab a few to put in the 5x5 to try out, but today shipping to me is $21 I should’ve taken the time to order yesterday… but oh well live and learn !
Hey bud here is @Maddawg’s tutorial on creating some diy 7.5 gallon sips CrunchBerries’Probiotic SIP Thread - #236 by Maddawg
I made some 10 gallons using his tutorial and they are my favorite sip yet. Easy to move around and out of the tent to inspect plants.
City Pickers are another choice that people love. Less expensive and I believe have a larger reservoir than EBs. You can find them at Lowes and Home Depot in the states. Don’t get me wrong, I love my EBs but there are other options out there that are less expensive and are more functional. You can find a bunch of options with links at the top of this thread. Good luck bud!
@CrunchBerries thanks man I appreciate that after reading more into it I think I’m gonna go the DIY route, I just need to go to Home Depot to get most of my supplies, and I’ll be good to go to try at least one SIP next run!
I’m so excited to go this direction and keep learning and growing with this plant! Plus save my back and knees from so much stress when hand watering every couple of days currently…
City pickers hold 2 gallons of water crunch. Having said that, the square shape ,and ability to hold more soil , plus cost make them my preferred choice so far @Weednerd.Anthony
They come with the wheels too!
I had problems like this when running heavy on compost. it looks like micronutrients along with low Mg, common problem here. I’m not saying that our problems are exactly the same or anything, but if you do run compost, it might be the problem
Did those Craftsman boxes stay together for you? I wasn’t trying to talk down about them, but maybe keep them out of the sunlight???
I think that’s a bingo. There is compost in the mix and it was just way too dense. I added a good amount of perlite and re-planted. One doesn’t seem too bothered but the other is not happy at the moment. We’ll see what happens…
My compost is usually sky high in potassium and phosphorus. So, I have been using gypsum, dolomite, and micronutrients like Mn,Fe,Zn sulfate. TM7 might help, but I usually get too much of one thing like copper or boron. TM7 should help though
The 10 gals are on their first run, but all is well so far.
Love my Earthboxes! Just chopped my 2nd EBx2 grow, LD Guerrilla Fume’ and 'Rado Zubblegum. Didn’t get pics but it went 11 weeks from flip, water-only in a homemade organic mix based on Pro-Mix BX + chunky perlite, with various inputs from BAS, Espoma, Rainbow Grow, EWC, compost, etc, and rock dusts such as azomite, gypsum, lime, Montana grow etc. I did not introduce worms nor any ferments, though. The mix from the first EB run was recycled with minimal amending ; I then added another EB (for a total of 2 under a single HLG 350R), and it got a new mix. I did “cook” the soil mix for about 4 weeks after inoculating with Mycrobe Complete, Recharge, and some malted barley. Will post some pics at trim time, currently slow drying as close to 60/60 as I can keep it.
PS I read some volume discussion above, and as most know I assume, you need 3 dimensions to calculate a volume (of a rectangular box), or you are measuring a surface area, not a volume. At the risk of being Mr Obvious about it: For a box in inches, say 18" x 16" x 9", divide inches by 12 to get feet (for each dimension), then multiply the three together (1.5’ x 1.25’ x 0.75’ = 1.4 cubic feet), and you get cubic feet. 1 cubic foot is 7.48 gal or ~7.5 gal). HTH
Nice! Have you grown that Guerilla Flume before?
No, but several OG’ers here have, and it looked good. I had a tester from a broken branch, and it was quite strong and tasty, though early by a couple weeks.
Good morning, OG,
Today marks 21F and things are progressing. Some plants are a tad tall, but still manageable. I’ve occasionally been bending tops to help manage the stretch.
315’s are raised to the ceiling and the QBs are still at 350w. I will start to dial them back and change my lighting schedule to 11/13 in the very near future.
I’m thinking also that I’m going to give a typical topdressing of barley, crab, insect frass, ewc, compost and kashi just to ease my mind. I just want to make certain I don’t run out of juice. That’s it though for feeding. I think I will be good with just one more for a total of two topdresses. One when I set up the sip to get the mojo in action and one after stretch. We shall see though.
I’ve been watering about a 1-2 gals per plant every night. Doesn’t take me too long to water as long as I have my water jugs prepared and come to room temperature.
I’ve said it before, but these 10gals are my favorite sip yet. Super functional and easy to move in and out of the tent. Makes inspecting plants a breeze! Plants are plenty large enough for my taste.
Snuggle Funk:
Stardawg Guava x SSDD: (AKA Sucker City)
Black Rasberry: I think this one leans more toward the Goji side. As the other BR’s I’ve seen are more candelabra Wookie shaped. Smells super yummy like berries and wookie.
Cheech Wizard: Getting a dill pickle smell off this one!!
Happy Holidays Ya’ll!! I’m officially on break, so ya’ll will be seeing a lot of me around here. Hope everyone is merry and bright!~ Crunchy
PS. I’ve cleaned up the lowers a bit more since these pictures were taken.
Looking nice and healthy man! Looking forward to seeing how those guava-sunshines turn out! On paper should be a really nice medicinal strain.
Thanks man!! I agree! SSDD soothes my savage beast. They have a light citrusy smell (maybe guava) but it’s too early to tell.
For sure, yet to try SSDD on it’s own but the couple crosses I’ve tried of it have been very nice. I remember zephyr saying the guava cut on it’s own is very medicinal as well - the guava hashplant was his go to I think.
