This is my first outdoor grow. Running 3 seeds of sour giesel (sour d x giesel) from CSI Humboldt. They were started indoors and vegged for 4-5 weeks and topped before being put outside. Will update as the flowering cycle progresses. Here’s some pics of the ladies about a week after being planted outside. Using BT and pyganic as an organic pesticide until I start to see flower development, then switching over to beneficials.
Pheno 1 (lots of lateral branching and fastest growing)
Plants are starting to explode with growth and just now seeing some pistils. They aren’t all over the plant so I wouldn’t call it the beginning of flower yet, but we should be there in the next 2-3 weeks. Plants are responding well to pyganic and BT however I’m still seeing some damage from grasshoppers. Hopefully that won’t last.
Pheno 1 (she’s getting super bushy and might take over some of the space for pheno 2 lol)
Pheno 3 (lateral branching is starting to push out more, but this one still has more apical dominance than pheno 1. Good amount of stink and has the largest fan leaves between all of them)
This will likely be the last post of them in veg unless I see a dramatic change again. Going to wait until about 1-2 weeks into flower until I post again. For more frequent updates you can check out my stories on Instagram (@thegrowjournals)
Thank you guys for following along. Going to be posting all of my grows on this forum from now on, what a cool community.
We are a little past 1 week into flowering. The girls have stretched out and maybe have a bit more stretch to go. Not much to say just gonna show pics.
Pheno 1 (almost has kind of a cheesy stem rub now, but still has that gas and sour to it for sure.
Pheno 2 (this one has kind of lost the strength of its nose, but it’s too early to tell if that will come back or not. Gotta wait until buds have developed more)
Pheno 3 (has the strongest lateral branching of them all, nose is kind of similar to 2. It’s there but has more of a hashy earthy thing going as supposed to the cheeseier funk of pheno 1)
Although I’m describing nose, keep in mind this is all based off stem rub which is usually not very accurate compared to the actual smell of the buds. I’ve had strains with funky stem rubs where the bud came out smelling sweet and confectionary. Just food for thought.
Very nice! Def sub’d and looking forward to updates. Just cracked some csi chemd×geisel so looking forward to comparing. Happy grows and good tokes:fire:
That sounds very nice, I hope you find some killer phenos. Love that Chem stank! I’m new to overgrow, how do you subscribe to a particular thread? Is that the same thing as bookmarking a thread?
Thank you and same to you happy hunting and may your jars overflow with some chem stank:fire:that and I kick up the tracking. Updates make it my way. I grew the geisel down in SD for a few and was killer chem funk so really stoked to see how they do with the csi crosses
Update on the grow: currently dealing with russet mite and caterpillar infestation. Just ordered some beneficial mites for that. I also watered in 3 different species of nematodes. Hopefully that help clear up some of the problems I’m experiencing, but besides that everything is chugging along.
2 of plants look like they’re in about week 5-6 of flower and 1 of them did like a weird reveg so I don’t really know where she is. Based on the bud it could be week 3-4 but she’s still pumping out a lot of new leaves. You can see what I mean below.
Pheno 1: nice gassy notes with some funk in there. I hope it transitions to straight diesel and oil rags, but only time will tell. This girl has the worst of the russet infestation.
Pheno 2: This one is looking really good. Nice swollen bracts and lots of frost. Aromas are diesel/gassy but definitely more of a woody smell. Kinda like walking through a forest.
Pheno 3: This is the one that is doing the reveg thing. Based on the amount of light each day none of these plants should be flowering but they had plans of their own. This one has a lot more of the sweet syrupy kind of aromas. Not a lot of diesel or gas in there.
I have some unfortunate news, caterpillars completely destroyed all of the plants and it was not worth saving anything. I would have had to break into each bud and scrape all the caterpillar poop off of everything. In the end I decided to trash all of the plants.
Despite the unfortunate news, I have learned the importance of having some kind of physical barrier between moths/butterflies and my plants. In the future I will move the beds so I can cover everything with a fine mesh net.
Thank you all for following along, I’m sorry to disappoint you with this unfortunate news.
You learned something, and because you chose to share your experience, we learned something. That’s just as much of a win from my seat as any other outcome
