Well I made it through 5 days … Big fun . I’m cranky … Any one successful in quitting here ??
And my green dots are less !! lol halp …
Chain smoking joints helps . Well kind of heheh
pot intake and things like walks or food or games are good. Basically distractions or time fillers like cigs are.
Unsalted sunflower seeds (or at least low in sodium)…also, those mint or cinnamon toothpicks…anything to keep that mouth busy.
Have heard of people wanting to quit, and with their head in the right place dropped some mush…some had success, others not.
I’ve wanted to try the laser therapy. Tried chantix for a month, that was extreme!! The craziest dreams I’ve ever had!!
@marcus420 great job. It gets easier as time passes.
I quit 2 or 3 times with the last one in 1982.
Be aware of triggers. For me I smoked for everything when I was happy, sad, stressed, socializing… When you get stressed and feel like one, realize it’s just a trigger, and will pass.
Good on you! I fake quit and switched to vape. used to “pack a day it” now I vape like ever second of the day mostly cus I quit weed for 3 months to pay for my grow. Still vape is working for me better then cig ever did. Between buying bulk coils from DH gate and dyi’in my own liquid I went from spending almost $250 a month on smokes to $13-16 a month on Vape. Can wait for my first 3000 watt grow to be done then bye bye what I used to spent on my daily toking.
Avoiding alcohol will be a big one …
A battle I jump in and out of regularly.
I have a pencil that I whittled into a small cigarette shape. I pushed out the “lead” and now I have something to replace the hand to mouth, which is the hardest part.
After 5 days - you’re clear of nicotine.
I wish i could quit but with my job omg lol plus for the last 20 years every time i go to make a big pick i got to have a cigarette.Been on no smoking sites and it throws my game off which could get someone killed
I smoked for 20 years. Tried to quit once and never smoked a dirty ole cig again. For the first week I just rolled joints and filled my cig pack with joints. Smoked like 10 to 20 joints a day during that week.
Keep it up man. Smoking isnt worth it. And oh yeah I read this book and it really helped a lot. I think it was called Allen Carr’s easy way to quit smoking. Sum shit like that. Really put smoking in perspective for me
Wish it was warmer here , it’s near 0 with the wind chill … I can’t wait until the spring thaw … I have to heal and be in nature ya know ? Physical activity… been alienating myself from people who smoke cigs ya know ?
Nicotine is the world’s biggest scam. Only drug thats so popular but doesnt get you high. Nicotine’s buzz just makes u feel like a non smoker for 15 to 30 mins. Only reason you need more nicotine is bc of last nicotine hit. Need another hit to feel normal. Like a non smoker feels
this thread is a trigger!
's off to you successful quitters… I hope to join you soon.
Five days? Congratulations! You are almost over ‘the hump’.
The nicotine is out of your system - now you only have to reprogram your brain (that was tougher than the hump for me).
The best advice I can give you is stay out of bars for a year or two. Don’t beat yourself up if you backslide in a moment of weakness, they are learning experiences as to what triggers to avoid. It took me ‘three kicks at the can’ 30 years ago but if I could do it - most anybody can.
Determination brother…
Cheers G
Congrats! The hard part is mostly over now.
I smoked cigarettes for 15 years and have quit smoking cigarettes twice for over a year each time, straight cold turkey and I think that’s the best way to quit. The first three weeks without a cig are the hardest, once you get into that 4th week without any cigarettes, usually the smell of a lit cig is sickening/nasty and you won’t want one anyways. Eventually some months down they’ll start smelling nice again but just have to say no, its been months you’ve been clean. Do not ever pick up a cig again. The hardest triggers for me with cigs/nicotine are pot and alcohol. If you can manage that you’ll be golden.
Whatever you do, don’t go to vaping if you want to quit nicotine. I did eventually pick cigs back up a third time and then switched to vaping in 2012. I just like to smoke okay? lol But yeah quitting vaping was the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life. I had massive anxiety attacks, and i’ve never had anxiety ever, literally thought I was dying or had cancer or something. Went to the doctor for it and was told to keep vaping and ween myself off along with trying chewing gum to get my mind off it. I stayed off vaping for a year but basically replaced it with a bubblegum addiction so i’ve went back to vaping to see if i can get off it without any crutch. Cigarettes were way easier to quit.
Just keep on keeping on, you’ve done fantastic so far! We’re all rooting for ya! ^^
I wanted to stay on it just for the crazy dreams lol
Agreed. I quit years ago. But I bought a pack recently, for fun, and it made me puke.
I have no wish to puke like that ever again. They will go from desirable to disgusting very quickly.
you got this. I smoked and dipped for close to 15 years. quit smoking and kept the dip up for another 3 years. quit the day my old man told me he had throat cancer. would have felt like an asshole if I kept putting that shit in my mouth while he was eating his meals through a tube in his stomach. it has been almost two years now and I still miss it sometimes but not as much as I did at first. its hard when my friends have one in or after I eat or when im drinking but I know im better off without it. when I am really craving one, I just remind myself that im stronger than that urge, that not buying it is saving me $5 a day and giving me a shot at not going through what I watched my dad go through. stay strong and it will get easier soon
