Putting positive thoughts into the subconscious can make for some great changes … I became really interested in hypnosis’s when back in Nebraska , a hypnotist did a show in a local bar for entertainment purposes this guy was big like 250-275 lbs at least and his final act was free standing on a 110lb girls mid section suspended between two chairs one on the shoulders and the other behind the ankles while the two guys added cushion while in the chairs it was quite unbelievable to say the least !

After this thread popping up multiple times and it bugging the heck outta me I am now into day three of quitting tobacco. Been using my herb vape for weed and it’s hard to get dosage right so I’m content without work and getting off my face while letting my body kick the stuff out my system.

1:30 pm March 23, 2020. Last one ever hopefully. Pack day for 20 years, no patch, no vape, cold turkey. Started with isolation, hopefully never relapse. I’m sure I’ll forget I quit one day, and accidentlly take a puff here and there, but I’m going to be a grampa (I hope) so…may as well grow up a little more. You’re an inspiration dude, thanks for posting this.

I’m sort of like LegalCanada, in that I don’t really get withdrawal from nicotine. I therefore have no excuse at all for smoking. When I smoke, I know it is because I just really like to smoke. When I quit (which I have done multiple times for multiple years at a time) I just decide one day that I am a non-smoker and that’s it.

Apparently this is tied to DNA. I downloaded my DNA file from Ancestry.ca and uploaded it to Promethease for analysis. I have a double recessive allele that is strongly associated with a much lower likelihood of nicotine addiction. My mother was a “social smoker” for about 20 years - only smoked at parties, etc. Never became a full-time “smoker”.

All of this to say, I have no fucking excuse for smoking - but I have been. Sort of. I buy pouches of Drum Premier and mix it in about 50:50 with some mild weed. Strong weed, or even mild weed on its own, tends to make me anxious. But this mix of weed and tobacco works very well for me.

I am going to quit right now. The pouch of Drum ran out last night. My wife hates it. I don’t like the stench and the stains on my fingers, etc.

I just hope I can continue to enjoy and benefit from weed without getting anxious. I have some herbal cigarettes from India that I can use to cut the weed with. Maybe I will try that. Fuckin’ things make me smell like a camp fire, but they do tend to chill me out…

Best of luck to all the quitters out there. I know it is a lot harder for some people than it is for me.

A pouch of Drum! That takes me back to my oil patch days! Damn!
I used to wonder what that stuff was doing to my lungs when I looked at the staining on my fingers…
Wow, just checked the price on the interwebs, that took my breath away.
I think I was paying about 3 or 4 bucks back in the day…

Yep. $48 at my local grocery store. Fuckin’ crazy. But a pouch lasted me a long time since I was only putting in a little pinch with some weed.

I had myself convinced that Drum is healthier because it is a higher quality product with less additives than North American tobaccos. Amazing how the mind works to justify doing something obviously unhealthy. Either way, I much prefer the flavour over the Players/Export/Pall Mall/whatever crap.

But that’s in the past now. When I said I quit earlier, that was it. Haven’t had any tobacco. I rolled a joint with a combination of mild Lebanese weed and half a Nirdosh yesterday and it was pleasant enough.

Has anyone tried smoking mullein?

Not familiar with it . Details ?

Umm google may serve you better but Its used as a tea for respiritory aid, its a native european plant but grows everywhere now, you may have seen it about as it has a pretty unique long cola like bud formation that can grow quite tall (taller than a person) and its supposed to be a mild downer and relaxant when smoked.

Plenty of it growing wild around my neck of the woods. I’ll have to try it!

It’s a pretty cool plant … Apparently it’s good for your lungs ?

Yes! Please let us know how it goes. I’m not sure what part you smoke, all I can find here is it being sold for tea and it looks badly dried and has stems, flowers and leaf all mixed together which I’m no expert but if it’s anything like cannabis then that will be nasty.
@Marcus420 yes apparently so, there is a long list of things that it may help with including coughs and asthma and similar things. I have been talking to a mate and they are going to order some so I will get a bit to try. I can’t find any on my walks locally.

Mullein, Verbascum thapsus :

Mullein is a fine medicinal for the lungs, even when you smoke it. It soothes inflamed or infected lungs, and prevents coughing until infection or inflammation is broken. Then it aids in expectoration, helping to break up congestion and promote “effective” coughing. It was smoked to stop the coughing of tuberculosis years ago. It is wonderful for any kind of lung cleansing. Very gentle and non-toxic, you can use it anytime. If you are a smoker, and you are sick and can’t stop coughing from a cold, you can smoke some Mullein instead of Tobacco. It may help you to stop coughing, and you will have smoked one less cigarette. If you are not a smoker, stick with tincture (extract) or Mullein tea. After all, there’s no need to smoke when you’re sick in your lungs.

It also has almost no flavor and is a very light smoke. I have never seen anyone become addicted to smoking Mullein, as after a while it is very unsatisfying. The average smoker would feel as if they’re smoking air.

Crispy dried crushed Mullein is a lousy smoke. Be sure to keep it ever so slightly moist. Dried Mullein should be rubbed for the best results. It will become very fluffy and puffy. This fuzzy rubbed Mullein will burn evenly when smoked in a paper or pipe. It will hold other herbs that are in the form of small pieces and powder, and keep them evenly distributed. And it has no flavor! Ideal for a smoking base; I use it in almost every smoking mixture.

I like the light green baby leaves found in the center of the first year basal rosette, but it’s a matter of personal choice. Any leaf will work.

That’s amazing, when I was a little kid I was told something very similar by a friend’s older brother and his buddies. My friend later told me to never believe a word he said as he was always trying to trick him into something stupid.
Well damn, it was true!

Cheers
