I have some of them ive been using for around ten years +, I buy name brand and things tend to last or maybe I’ve been lucky. I check them occasionally but have only ever had maybe three fail in the last 20 years. I have the front plug in type and the duel sided never had the duel sided ones fail and the ones that did fail were cheap Walmart buy at the last minute items.

I like podbean because I can download the episodes while I watch them. For free. The Tom Hill one wont be added until we see it everywhere I think. Just a FYI. I had been watch Tony’s grow over on Icgmag. Glad to see him posting progress here too.

Yeah, I’ve had grow store brand ones fail too, not just Amazon ones. I’m always way below the rating too. Can’t say I’ve noticed a difference between front or side plug. I will say I’ve had more go since I started using sils, maybe the in rush current of 10 individual lamps is enough to make a difference? Idk. Maybe my using sils coincided with my using cheap timers, idk. :man_shrugging: Maybe I just have bad luck haha.

There is a rating on them or should be but I’ve always kept them to a single ballast, when I ran multiple lights I had a cap mlc8 controller that I could run 8 1000 watt lights on and it ran of the dryer plug. That thing would make a loud slappy click noise when it came on loud enough to hear from the living room
Those were very expensive back when they first came out , not so much now.

Classic forum threads lead nowhere ha! Worse with a live audience. Getting a hang of remote gardening ha!

Raised up the light even more. Even just this half board of hlg 550 is brutally intense. Lookin better, good thing the timer was fucked so they could recover better ha

Tony they are looking better! The male is really getting its color back!

Tony I have a question about Chunk; what do you think about lengthening the flowering period from 56 to say 70 days by picking the later flowering types to breed. Say you have a male that has a flower threshold of 14.5hrs of daylight and only needs (24-14.5)=9.5 of darkness to flower to say 14/10? The reason I ask this is to grow clones outside in Southern latitudes. Most everything is for daylight in the 40’s latitudes and doesn’t help for us in the low 30’s.

I don’t know if I am looking at this right but if the plant flowers for roughly 60 days then would that put the dates for flowering to start 60/2=30 days from June 20 plus the transition period (14 days). This theory would put the minimums May 21 to July 20 depending how long plant transitions to flowering and finishing September 20th? All latitude dependent obviously.

Yea now that we are legal, neighbors are still having that look when they realize you grow too! In my neighborhood I have a mechanic, doctor, engineer, retired police, and retired Wyoming rancher. All but the retired lieutenant (police) smoke but he is curious since we don’t fit the mold of a stoners .
Yes we are a bunch of retired old asses :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:. I posed the same question to Tom H and he said that stretching to 70 days would probably lose too much. I will just grow the chunk inside the garage since I have the room.
That kind of info you guys have really saves us newbie’s so much time if we listen.

Last one I took over to my sour bubble run.

4 more girls to get up potted now so looks like 7 girls, 5 males. One girl might be going purple. Lost a few to light issues, poor growth, feed, etc ha!

The upside is, no one can claim they aren’t stress tested :+1:
