Sounds like a strain that would do well in my tin box . I like large girls !

they will be getting a prime spot under a couple of 600 watt single ended bulbs

they will be on the floor and have about 7 foot of head room from the top of the soil

but get too tall I will cut the growing tip out of them to slow them down

may not need to

be safe and stay free

looking at our grow thread they should work very nice for you

if I make beans with them I will send some your way for sure

side note The Clown got back to me on Wakeford 2.0 he also has

some Petrolia Headstash bx seeds that a seed whore like me cannot live without

all the best and be safe

F2 you should they grow very well they have great vigor I will make some beans

if I get a female with 4 plants and my luck I see males in my future

the short one maybe a lady

but if I get all males I will save pollen and hit a short hard budded Hash Plant with

and see what I get

all the best and thanks for the beans

OK all you great LED Gurus a question about LED light as I am not in

the know :frowning:

with HID lights as a rule but not a hard one

I always figure a 400 watt light will cover a 40 inch by 40 inch foot print

and will let me grow plant 40 inches tall from the soil

like this

gallery_164_91_2925|nullxnull

bud top to bottom or do LEDs not work this way, not sure but I believe the question

how far does LED light penetrate the canopy?

I do understand the inverse square law

and how light falls off very fast in strength after leaving the source

so can one cover 40 inches by 40 inches with a plant 40 inches tall from the soil

and get buds from top to bottom?

thanks for helping this old guy with a new trick

I lollipop. But I really would like to hear what people have to say about it. I really believe it would depend on the diodes. Better the diode the better penetration. But I’m pretty sure some folks are going to say your not going to be able to get those kind of results from LEDs.

we will see as I am sure not up to speed at all :frowning:

that is why the one I am building I will do Sea of Greens with clones on a shelf

in 6 inch square pots and no veg

they will make buds just no sure what they will do in a grow room like mine

I will be seeing a 350 to 400 light bill

and might like to save a buck or two

Hi bro I switched from MH and HPS 6 years ago
It took a bit to get use too , there is a learning curve
A few things I noticed

  • Less heat is a biggie the plants did not dry out as fast

  • There’s a need to keep an eye out for cal mag deficiency

  • no loss in yield

  • more colorful buds ( genetics depending)

  • lower energy cost ( but that just made me increase the amount of tents )

  • winter may need to add heat to grow area

  • faster veg

I started with 2 Mars hydro purple and for all the negative hype about Mars they lasted me 5 full years at nonstop use and they did produce well
My new lights ( California lightworks 500 and hgt quantum board I forgot the model )are full spectrum white light so far I like them better easy on the eyes no need for the led sun glasses

Im using the HLG 550s in 4x4 tents for flowering . I agree with everything @Papalag just said . Also some strains may be more bushy / leafy . Penetration may vary with strain or how you train / trim etc. Just saying. :grinning:

@Floyd I see the will cover a 5 x5 at 36 inches and are drawing 500 or so actual

watts

they look like a good light and they a good warranty

there are things to learn so I will have to start to read and build my light

then run it over plants and grow

thank s for your insight it helps to hear what other do

what a pretty nice cross! we are planing a lil STS femming of some autos… a cross like this would give a great test object . how long will they take fom sprout to chop?

@dequilo. I know with my LED, he recommends keeping the light 12-18” away. So I am either raising and lowering the light or raising the plants. I had the top of plants 6” away last grow and didn’t burn the plant.

Yeah I drop mine down closer during flower. 12-18 is the recommendation. I like to see how much she will take. But 6". Thats Ballsy! Lol.

my grow room cost me 11.50 $ a day to run with 14 hours of light at

3000 watts

I might try for now hanging 8 - 4 ft. - 42 watt LEDs down the 16 foot length spaced and

try at first running my HIDs 12 hours and the LEDs a hour at the start of the day

then a hour at the end of the day

which save me 50 buck a month and then try 2 hours and 2 hours with

10 hours of HIDs

to see if this will keep them out of flower the 10 - 12 hours of 3000 watts will

still make them grow

just thinking out load and maybe someone has done the same thing

be safe and grow well

Well that has been an evolving answer.
HIDs whack out a lot of photons from a point source (yes, not a point source but close enough).
LEDs are a lot weaker but there’s lots more of them. So, if you spread them out

There is significantly less shadowing going on (so penetration is better) but my feeling is HID still rules (first grow with them so still sorting it out).

Although LEDs are cheaper to run$$.

Cheers

Good Day My Friend  nice to see you stop by

I do like HIDs as they are very straight forward not a lot of thought you want more

light, Grow a bigger plants, cover more area

crank them up  throw watts at your plants and grow they will

I would like to blend the two to get the best of both of them just need to figure out

how to do it my grow room

for me I will never have a smaller room again I have work cramped in a small

spaces, hall closets and it sucked ass

I am adding another 8 foot by 16 foot on soon so I need to work this out

or hang another 3000 watts

but I am not looking forward to 500 - 600 light bill as I am not a Cash Cropper

just a hobby hack

Thank God in Heaven that spring will come because God cranks the watts

and also pays the bill

I look forward to having hundreds of plants outside this year

grow well and be safe

I though some are getting 1.5-2x the yield and more resin with the new leds? That means something. You will rock it once you get them dialed in.

I found the patch miserable myself. Good money though. It was one of my many layoffs as well.
