I’ve been bitten by the seed bug again recently and was thinking about this too. My wife would carry on the grow as long as she could. But ultimately my youngest daughter would get the seed stash. It wouldn’t mean anything to her now, but would when she’s older.
Wish I had a stash of seeds from my mom, dad or any grandparents, it would be a big hug from them everytime grow or smoke…lol.
Actually…wouldn’t it be fun to make some seeds, store them until death and have them handed out at your funeral!? People buy plots before death…why not be fully prepared with seeds for your friends and loved ones too?..lol
I been thinking about this a lot myself, none of my relatives would do anything with beans. They’d all just go to the trash unless i wrote up specific instructions to have them given to someone who would preserve & redistribute. I could leave them to a local buddy, he grows… but he doesn’t care about genetics, he’s more interested in the latest trend. So they’d be lost either way.
It would be cool if og could set up a preservation effort, a seedbank or something that ppl could put in their will to donate their collections to, and have people grow them out & repro here. Or even sell at the fundraisers/auctions for members in need. It would help keep old genetics alive and in the hands of people who are passionate about the plant.
