BTK is known as caterpillar killer. or Bacillus thuringiensis kurstacki. Yah I forgot about stupid dennis rader, you can’t have a conversation about biological control without the bind torture killer getting in there.

Yeah! That’s the thing! I figured I’d at least be good this winter, it’s gotten pretty cold off and on this year, so I thought I wouldn’t have to even think about this until summer. Guess not.

I’m thinking for sure I’m gonna add the essential oils to the mix, never done that before. Probably do a foliar more frequently, too, like every ten days, maybe even once a week. Next grow, the lights are on during the day, so it’ll be a lot easier to do regular foliars. And I agree, they must work systemically, right? So if I do them regularly through, like, week three of flower, the plants should be all good for the duration. I think. I hope haha.

Sorry, man, I went for the obvious joke. But that dude is, to me, the scariest serial killer. I dunno why. He just weirds me out. And I’m not even one of those people that’s all into serial killers. I did like that show “Mindhunter,” though.

How do you personally apply that BTK? Foliar? From everything I’m reading, it can be drenched if it’s a small enough area (6-10 seven gallon pots seems like a small area). Do you think it’s more effective to use it in a foliar? And if I were to foliar with it, would it be best to apply that separately from the neem/essential oils/etc foliar? Or can they be combined?

Sorry to pepper you with so many questions, but you’re definitely the go-to when it comes to this kind of shit.

I make sure to spray that shit around and it doesn’t matter if it gets all over the place. It’s not harmful to humans or pets or babies. It’s a very specific killer of certain bugs and won’t hurt beneficial insects. I did that trial myself using syrphid flies. Coat every bit of the plant, and do it again 2 weeks later. They’ll get mummified and turn brown. You can even put it in the soil, it’s harmless to your plants. I use BTK as my pest management in the greenhouse, and it scares away earwigs too.

That was a rollerscoaster of a post.
Delighted you aren’t quitting & I dont have to find out what vemno is haha.

You have this man, the fact they are only turning up now, in much lower numbers means you did eradicate them and they got back in or something barely survived.

I’d nuke the tent after you chop. Just to be safe I would start with fresh soil next round.

Id go with Joe Crowes advice 1st, then fall back on iamyou_youaremes advice :fire: as last resort haha

You’ll beat them man.

Okay, cool, I’ll pick some up before the next grow for sure. Thanks, dude! Such an endless source of pest control information… haha.

Yeah, you know… Gotta keep it entertaining haha.

I mean, I bleached the tent, the room, the floors, the walls, everything, after the last time. And then I didn’t grow anything for 30 days. I figured that’d be good enough. I actually just walked around the house and checked the plants that we have growing outside (“regular” plants, not weed) just to see if they had aphids on them. And they didn’t, so… I dunno. Very strange.

As far as I know, aphids can’t survive for more than eleven days without a living plant. I’m certain the ones I have now aren’t holdovers from the last grow. These are new. They came from somewhere else. I just don’t know where or how they got into the room. Fucking annoying haha!

heh heh remember what I said to you two years ago. Don’t worry about saying something that you think would offend me, I’m not like that heh heh. I love it when people pick my brain, there’s definitely some secrets up in there.

Well, I wasn’t worried about offending you haha, I never worry about that. I just didn’t wanna be annoying.

Can your pets carry them from outside if they have access to your grow space?

They can actually fly! They flew in through an open window and landed on my grape fruit tree. I squished them all.

Yeah, which is why Bowie’s not allowed in the grow room anymore. He never even ever wanted to go near it until my last summer grow, always been terrified of it. Then one day he just randomly started walking in there (my girl and I have posited that that’s when his brain tumor started, just because it was so outta character). I thought it was cute, let him hang when I’d water, even though I knew better. Got aphids, he hasn’t been in there since last September, a month before these seeds were even planted.

So it’s not from him going in the grow room. And I’m EXTREMELY anal when I go in there myself. It’s not like I’m petting him and loving on him and then going into the grow room. I really don’t know where exactly the aphids came from this round. But they’re coming from somewhere.

Dude, last time I got these fuckers, I felt like such a tweaker, for days. Every little thing I’d see, I was like,”Is that an aphid?!?” Even little particles of dust floating around, I was like,”It’s a fucking flying aphid!!! Kill it!”

I hate bugs.

FUCK man hate to see those pictures of aphids, i thought i stumbled on your last grow thread! damn…

from what i understand, bugs will come and live in my soil and on my plants… but if it’s the right bugs it’s all good. With the mindset of “bugs are 100% going to live in my grow” i can manage… but it looks like aphids only fuck with the fan leaves at least they don’t like resin too much from what i can tell

They get on the flowers. And I only know that because when I posted the smoke report of that Chem Fuego from the last grow you referenced, I snapped a pic of a nug and when I blew it up, I saw a shitload of aphid corpses on it. Fucking gross. That’s why I’m chopping tonight. I’m sure there are some on the flowers already, but maybe hopefully not too many.

I’m not gonna wash, either. I washed the fuck outta those flowers from last grow, kept them submerged in the water for like ten minutes before I started rinsing and some of those flowers were still covered with dead aphids. What’s the point? The only thing washing seemed to do was make the finished flowers shittier, less sticky, less sparkly etc etc etc.

What a hassle…

oh yeah this image is tattooed on my brain it dosen’t look like you have that many at all right now tho, right? i really hope not, but yeah they get the chop, smart, they definitely gonna have that sativa desired effect from adding early chop factor to the already sativa plants, and it’s not that early, my guess all or most of that weed is going to be totally fire, worst case ontario, an occasional bead bug on a flower

we soldier on man, i knew you were kidding when you said you were done growing haha

Hahaha!!! Yeah, I considered writing a few more sentences and dragging that joke out, like,”Ohhhhh, this growing stuff is such a chore, these bugs, why should I go on?” before I dropped the “seed whores!” thing.

I mean, if I’m seeing them, they’re everywhere. I think. Having dealt with aphids now for two grows in a row, reading about them, listening to people like joecrowe, I’m thinking if you’re seeing them, they’ve been there for a while. Again, joecrowe said he thought it looked like the colony had advanced pretty good, so I’m assuming they’re on the flowers. Maybe I’ll make hash outta everything. Been wanting to make some hash lately anyway…

the aphids that were on the outside plants went inside on your weed plants where it’s nice and warm
that happened to me once with corn outside my house, sadly bugs are smart

Dude… You literally just quoted me saying,”Looked at my outside plants and there’s no aphids on them.” THERE’S NO APHIDS ON MY OUTSIDE PLANTS hahaha… They’re somewhere around here, but they’re not on our outside plants. How lit are you right now? Haha.

bro i meant they are not on your outside plants anymore they moved to your inside plants haha i am lit tho

Man, I got all kinds of critters outside, fat ones, skinny ones, ones that ride on bikes!!

The LThai are close enough to ride out.
I neemed and used another product with thyme and corn oils early on (Mammoth, canncontrol https://mammothmicrobes.com/home/brands/mammoth-ca/ ), The Mammoth is real easy to use and seemed to work great, then had an ant invasion from a new source of verma-compost that I top dressed with just prior to flower. Got the ants but missed these scale… it happens.

I want to get this soil tested, been searching for a good lab, it’s almost two years old now and really getting good. Then re-amend and plant more seeds. Gotta make this difficult decision… WHATS NEXT!!

Good to see you back!! Haha
Peace

I’m casting my vote for that Red/Gold/Blue x Thundergun pack. That sounds really good. That Red/Gold/Blue repro pack on Doc’s “Vault Treasures” list was tempting me for a good long time, but I resisted. For once.
