Doc D Bandaid Haze, Colombian Gold x Dragon Energy and Ancient OG x DE; Bodhi Soar; Freeborn Skycuddler Kush #3 f3

This is the way I usually tell if something is loud or not too. If I can smell it on my arms or hands after I leave the tent, and it lingers for awhile, usually that means it’ll hold on to it’s smell pretty good. The smell may change a bit, but usually it still stays pretty loud. There’s outliers in every case though. She’s looking pretty chunky … I ended up grabbing a pack of those Banana OG x AfPak (and BAH ix 3.0), so this grow helps with what to expect. Along with Vagabond Windy’s grow…

Nah, jerk those plants off and tell us what you smell afterwards :eyes: :joy:

Totally agree with that, dig the unstopped look way better, but yea, when you’re trying to max em out it makes sense to top. One of these times I gotta try a SOG in small pots with y topped little baseball bats sticking out of each one, I bet that’s real satisfying to see when you crack a tent.

That happened a few times with one pheno of the Banana OG x Afpak this past round.
During harvest it Left a Parmesan cheese, fresh dog poop, banana funk smell on my arms that literally made me go back inside the tent to smell it as it was hanging.

For sure. Or even just moving branches outta the way when I water, that’ll usually get some sorta smells wafting around the room. That’s not happening with the AOG cross, though. I woulda noticed that last night. It’s not a big deal, though. Maybe she’ll get louder as things progress. Or even after she gets chopped, like that Sky Cuddler did. I haven’t opened any “proper nugs jars” of that one yet, but I’ve been getting into the larf jar (of which there is very little, maybe a quarter of a pint mason jar) and it’s fucking stinky. I can smell it from a good distance away, which is interesting, because she had the most muted smells out of everything while she was growing.

Yeah there’s always those weird ones like that, that don’t really smell that much when growing. But after chop seem to get better in the jars. The Rudeboi OG I recently chopped is doing that. It smelled ‘good’ during chop, but it’s getting better just sitting in the jars… I guess, stewing in it’s own stink. That Sky Cuddler sounds good!

Okay, took these pics of the Ancient OG x AfPak last night, day 54 of flower:

I actually managed to get a few decent non-flash pics for once, too:

And I finally managed to get a couple acceptable pics of the wall of flowers that’s going on just below the top:

It’s kind of a first for me, having everything below the top kind of growing “in” rather than “out.” Like, there’s a bunch of branches below the top with flowers on them, but they’re all kind of growing towards the meristem, rather than doing the typical sorta branching-out-and-up thing that probably every single other cannabis plant I’ve ever grown has done. Every time I water, I try to pull those branches out and away, but they’re so short that manipulating them is pretty much impossible. I’m not complaining or anything, just observing, but it’s interesting, for sure.

Smelled my hand after watering and there’s definitely some pretty intense smells developing now. When I first took a whiff, I was actually like,“Ooof!” and instinctively pulled my hand away. She’s stinky, for sure, but not loud. I definitely have to do a little nug squeeze to pick up on the smells. She smells good, though. “Raw” is the word that immediately came to mind. As in “raw power” haha.

Anyway, yeah, I think she may finish up a little earlier than the 70 days I was thinking she’d take, maybe more like 65 days. I’ll probably let her go a little longer than that, though. I want this to me be my “sleepy time” weed, since I didn’t end up with any from any of the other seeds I planted this round. Plus, I wanna see if the flowers will maybe get a little swell on; right now, that top is barely bigger than a lot of the nugs beneath it.

And just for fun, here’s a pic I took of one of the C. Gold x DE flowers last week, while I was trimming:

I labeled it as the #2 this morning, but looking at it now, I think that it might actually be from the #1 plant, which was the shorter of the two. I dunno. In any event, I already mentioned this on the Doc D thread, but it took foreverrrrrr to get those two Colombian Gold/DE plants trimmed, almost twelve hours haha. I started at 10:30am and finished at 11pm, minus the thirty minute errand I ran to get more mason jars. It wasn’t necessarily because they were extra-leafy or anything, there were just a LOT of flowers. They aren’t the densest ever, but they’re not as airy as some other plants I’ve grown. Weighed both of them after I got everything trimmed up, the #1 ended up at 90.5 grams and the #2 weighed 92.1 grams, minus the larf. Which is pretty good. I’m not UNhappy abut it, anyway haha. I thought it was pretty interesting that the two plants turned out almost identical yields, despite the massive difference in their growth patterns.

Anyway… I forgot to weigh the BAH #3 and #6, but the #1 ended up weighing 68.6 grams and the #4 weighed 76.8 grams, which is fine. I’ll take it. I was actually surprised that they ended up lighter than the two C. Gold x DE, because the flowers themselves feel more dense. But I guess that’s just a result of there being so many fucking flowers from those two C. Gold plants haha. Seriously, it’s not like I was running short on jars or anything, I’ve had the same number of jars for years now and they’ve always been enough. But after I trimmed three of the BAH’s, I started working on the first C. Gold/DE and it quickly became apparent that I was gonna need more. And that’s okay… haha.

So yeah, I’m gonna start checking out the Soar and the Sky Cuddler Kush in earnest here over the next few days and post smoke reports of those at some point here pretty soon. I’ve been blazing the SCK larf pretty regularly for the last week or two, so I have a pretty good handle on that one already. But I opened a jar of the “proper nugs” for the first time yesterday and was blown away by how good it smelled. I wanna start checking out real nugs of it before I post the report. That’ll have to wait, though, because I’m gonna start getting into the Soar today. That one also smells so. Fucking. GOOD. Straight-up tropical fruit melange.

The BAH and C. Gold/DE smoke reports are gonna be a ways off. I wanna let them cure for at least a month before I start, uh, researching those…

Here’s the Soar smoke report.

Looks (flash and no flash):

Smell: Unbelievably fruity, like a tropical fruit salad or something. A friend of mine brought her friend over last week, I dunno what her deal is, but she’s really big on smelling perfumes and figuring them out. Apparently, small-batch perfume makers will send her samples to get her opinion and shit. It’s not her job, I’m not sure how they know about her, maybe she has a blog or something? I don’t know, but I guess she has a really good nose. So I handed her a jar and she said she was getting guava, mango, orange juice, banana chips (like those dehydrated banana snack things) and lime zest. I’m also picking up on a sorta cat pissy thing, but it’s not off-putting or anything. It actually kind of reminds me a lot of the way Pineapple Express smelled, way back when that was all over the place, but even better. In any event, it’s very fruity-smelling haha. Like, overwhelmingly fruity. Really good.

Flavor: pretty much the same as it smells. My palate isn’t nearly as developed as that chick’s nose haha, so I’m not sure I can say for certain that I’m tasting banana chips or anything, but it definitely tastes like a tropical fruit smoothie. Very impressive.

Effects: I mentioned on another thread a while back, I think it was on the Bodhi thread, that I was hoping that this particular Soar plant would turn out the same way Bodhi described the Big Sur Holy Bud he grew, when he said it was “a Sativa high masterfully bred towards an Indica frame,” and that’s exactly what I got. The high is nothing if not “Sativa.” It’s relaxing, but I wouldn’t say that there’s a significant amount of “body” to the high.

I also don’t think I’m ever gonna smoke it after, like, 7pm, either. I’ve blazed it a couple times right around 8 or 8:30 and realized that it’s not really the best weed for winding down. Which isn’t to say that it’s racy or anything, because it absolutely isn’t. But it’s an eye-opener for sure; a very comfortable eye-opener. It’s super-giggly and makes me feel very comfortable in my own skin, which not every weed strain does. I don’t get anxious or edgy or self-conscious at all. It’s classic Good Time Weed.

The thing I like most about the Soar is that it’s one of those strains that hits me in waves. After about an hour of being good and baked, I’ll start to feel like it’s wearing off and then twenty minutes later I’ll be high again. And it’s STRONG, too, bordering on one-fat-bong-hitter-quitter. Not quite, but allllllmost. Two bong rips are plenty, enough to get me really baked for two-and-a-half hours, followed by another hour-and-a-half of leveling off. No heavy comedown at all with this one, I just end up feeling refreshed and positive.

So yeah, this one turned out pretty amazing. A+++ weed for sure.

Just a quick story: on the Super Bowl, I rolled a joint of this for my friend Natalie, uncured, just grabbed a nug out of the paper bag she was drying in. Natalie was actually the first person to blaze it, I didn’t even partake with her. Talked to her a couple days later and she was like,“Man! I got so high from that one! And I just kept getting higher and higher, even an hour after I smoked it!” And I was like,“That’s funny. The name of that strain is Soar,” and she was like,“Yes! That’s the perfect name for it!”

It’s definitely one of those ones that builds like a freight train. But comfortably haha. Really, really good weed.

I love herb like this… like you think you’re coming back down to earth and everything is normal for a while, then all the sudden you feel like you stepped into another dimension cause you get higher than you were before. It’s a weird sensation. Those sneaker/creeper highs can be the best, they surprise you, and just when you think the ride is over… strap in!

sounds baller, shes pretty too, great aroma description, hell yeah

Great job and great report.

I also love it when we can figure out why Bodhi names his strains the way he does. :sunglasses:

Yeah, that’s definitely my favorite type of high. I blazed some of the BAH #6 from the tiny mason jar earlier this afternoon haha, only ten days cured, it didn’t burn properly, but it smokes the same way as that Soar. But better in every way, too. I’m super-impressed already with that one, can’t wait to write that smoke report haha. It’s already some of my favorite weed of all time.

Yeah, sometimes I’m like,”Eh… Bad name,” with some of Bodhi’s crosses, but Soar is exactly the right name for this cross. That plant is for sure at the top of my “Plants I Wish I Would’ve Cloned” list. 56 days, stayed super-short, but smokes like the liveliest Sativas. Very good. I’m really curious to plant more Soar seeds, just to see if one: I can find a similar plant and two: to see how the more Colombian Red-leaning plants smoke. I’d be interested to see if the taller, longer-flowering ones have the same kind of high and just get bigger/take longer or if this is an outlier plant or whatever.

I’m thinking about buying another pack haha!, even though I have like 14 seeds left. This seems like one I wanna know is at least in the vault.

Or something.

Nice review @minitiger !

Sounds like some really nice bud. I love the sativa’s without anxiety and the bouquet sounds exquisite. Making me want to check this one out!

It’s very, very good weed, for sure. I love it haha. One thing I forgot to mention in the above report is that it does get a little introspective way later on, like around hour three. I’ve found myself a few hours after blazing the Soar getting just… I dunno. Introspective, I guess haha!! Thinking maybe a little more than I’d like. But the fact that I’m feeling anything at all three hours after smoking it is pretty gawddamn awesome, I think.

Anyway, it is for SURE gonna be great weed to head into summer with. Real good. I’ve been on a full-on diet and exercise thing for a while lately, no drinking, eating super-clean, working out right after breakfast etc etc. I like to get the exercise outta the way early, so I haven’t waked-and-baked with the Soar yet, but I guarantee you it’d be some stellar “early morning” shit. Like I said, it’s a straight-up eye-opener. Love it.

Well don’t bounce just yet, dude! I’ve still gotta write smoke reports for the four Bandaid Hazes, the two Colombian Gold x Dragon Energies and the Sky Cuddler Kush. We’re just getting started haha…

I’m not even getting up for water lol. I need to know the rest of them. I’m sure you’ll be following up with something else that’s interesting right after.

Sounds like some beautiful weed man.
Love those tropical fruity sativa flavours.
The effects sound really nice too, like the perfect smoke for a lovely sunny morning with a cup of coffee on a lazy Sunday.

Best of luck with the diet, its not easy, really takes a lot of discipline and effort. Suppose you got to get set for all the upcoming pool parties…not harbouring any jealousy haha.

Dude that smoke report sounds awesome, I’m with everyone else in loving sativas that don’t have you crawling the walls and reaching for the tinfoil hat. Prone to anxiety and paranoia. Although one that has a little lull and ramps back up again might catch me off guard. I feel like those were the bags back in the day that usually had you going “I think that shit was laced man…” :joy::joy:
