Ease of Rooting

I have not really gotten serious about breeding, yet, but I do have a long term plan.
At the moment, I am trying to prioritize some traits. I think I have already answered my own question, but I would still like to hear some others input.
When selecting for positive breeding traits, how high do you prioritize ease of cloning?
I think we all have learned that some strains root easier than others.

For me I’d say…
High on the list but generally a secondary consideration.

A few extra days in the cloner is no big deal if it’s something you like.

Ease of cloning and strike rates dont really cross my mind unless i plan to pump out 1000s of cuts a week. For personal use id focus on other traits…

I will opine that, I don’t put any thought on a plant’s ease of cloning-- If a plant is growing quickly, it will root quickly; if a plant is stunted in any way, it’s clones will take longer to root. I always get roots within 14 days, with 6-9 days being the average for healthy, unstunted plants… and that includes the “hard to clone” triangle kush, which roots fine if it’s dialed in and growing well.

For positive breeding traits, I gravitate towards the strongest body-buzz, no matter any other quality… everyone will have their own selection criteria, such as, robustness, smell, taste, effect, persistence but, we don’t hear of people selecting based on clonability.

Some smoke doesnt like to play nice when cloning like a lot of the Bubbas and woody cuts but its such good smoke we look past this and be more patient with them.Like @Mithridate said unless it was for large scale Commercial applications i could see this as a box to check.Personal I wouldn’t worry. If you like it enough you will make sure you clone it by any means of sorcery or witchcraft and fuckery at your current disposal.

Wow, guys. Great, and overwhelming response.
Looks like everyone is prioritizing ease of cloning pretty low on the priority list.
I am glad to hear that.

i was having variance in ease of rooting across cultivars. in particular, my red hot cookies would not clone in less than 21 days in an aero cloner.

however, in my latest attempts I dunked each cut in rooting gel (like directly int the bottle) and let it sit for a few seconds. then, i put the into the cloner. cloner was ph ~6, added 50ppm of nutes. waited. on day 8 the roots were so big i had to plant immediately. only a couple of cuts of last 22 didn’t get planted that day. 1 single cut of green crack bx did not root in 15 days and was tossed. I have pretty good luck with all but the red hot cookies, but rooting in less than 8 days from cut is significant. I got all of my dying plants post hurricane cuts to root in a bout the same time.

Usually I just rolled the cut around in the gel after it had been in a cup of water. I don’t think the cup of water is necessary unless you are taking loads of cuts. just go directly into the rooting gel container or something you are using to simulate that.
